Abstract Background How weight status changes with time may affect self-esteem was seldom studied. We identified the distinct trajectories of overweight/obesity over age and assessed their associations with different domains of self-esteem in Hong Kong Chinese children. Methods Territory-wide longitudinal data of 48,558 children (girls: 50.0%; 6.3 ± 0.51 years) studying Primary 1 in the academic cohorts of 1995/96 and 1996/97 followed till Primary 6 were obtained from the Student Health Service of Hong Kong. Weight was annually measured and categorized as underweight/normal and overweight/obese and self-esteem was measured in Primary 6. Distinct trajectories of weight status were first identified using growth mixture modeling and their associations with low self-esteem were assessed by logistic regression. Results Four distinct overweight/obesity trajectories were identified: never (76.8%), late-onset (8.1%), early-onset (4.2%) and chronic (10.9%) overweight/obesity. Compared with children who were never overweight/obese, more of those in the late-onset or chronic overweight/obesity group showed low self-esteem and specific domains including general, social and academic/school-related (adjusted odds ratios: 1.20 - 1.43, all P < 0.001) except parent/home-related self-esteem (P = 0.36), whereas children being in the early-onset overweight/obesity group showed no significant difference (P ≥ 0.53) except a lower risk of low social self-esteem (adjusted odds ratio = 0.82, P = 0.03). Conclusions Late-onset or chronic overweight/obesity predicted low general, social and academic/school-related self-esteem. Children who successfully reduced weight may have equal levels of self-esteem or even better social self-esteem than those being always underweight/normal weight. Overweight/obese children had a vulnerability to self-esteem in non-domestic environments.

The end of the 20th and the 21st century is a period of active interaction between Russia and China in the field of art. Chinese fine art has been seriously influenced by the Russian academic school and the traditions of Russian realism in general. Modern Russian painting is also enriched with elements of Chinese art, since cultural contacts that influence the art of domestic artists have expanded enormously in recent decades. Interesting processes of interaction and mutual influence of different cultures take place in Petersburg art. St. Petersburg becomes the center of the intersection of East and West. These changes concern even such a stable school as the academic one, connected with the traditions of realistic art. This phenomenon needs to be studied. A special role in the artistic interchange is played by the modern St. Petersburg academic school. The novelty of this research consists in studying some phenomena of Chinese cultural life associated with the influence of St. Petersburg art and in identifying mutual influences that are found in the works of Chinese and St. Petersburg masters of painting. The article uses methods of comparative analysis, observation, and interviewing to identify common patterns of the development of art in the two countries. Contemporary St. Petersburg artists representing the academic school are extremely in demand in China, have been there many times and cooperate at various levels with representatives of the cultural community. Chinese art-collectors and artists actively cooperate with artists and develop interesting projects. During the pandemic, real contacts between countries decreased, but moved to the virtual space. Now many educational and cultural programs are held remotely. Creative ties do not weaken and this gives hope for the further development of cultural cooperation at all levels.

The article is devoted to the latest results in metric theory of Diophantine approximation. One of the first major result in area of number theory was a theorem by academician Jonas Kubilius. This paper is dedicated to centenary of his birth. Over the last 70 years, the area of Diophantine approximation yielded a number of significant results by great mathematicians, including Fields prize winners Alan Baker and Grigori Margulis. In 1964 academician of the Academy of Sciences of BSSR Vladimir Sprindžuk, who was a pupil of academician J. Kubilius, solved the well-known Mahler’s conjecture on the measure of the set of S-numbers under Mahler’s classification, thus becoming the founder of the Belarusian academic school of number theory in 1962.

Abstract. This article explores Vasyl Korchovyi’s artistic heritage, his unparalleled style, and notable manner of working. Vasyl Korchovyi is a Ukrainian sculptor, graduate from National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, representative of the Academic school of sculpture creation. This sculptor has not been neglected today and is an often and widely recognizable guest and/or participant of/in numerous exhibitions, art competitions, and sculpture symposiums including the latest one, the Xth Kaniv International Sculptural Symposium (September–October, 2021). Despite that, his artworks have been discussed in a quite occasional and random way in artistic articles and other kind of publications. This is the reason of why this study focuses on the major subjects and gentres used by Korchovyi for his artworks, as well as on his manner and techniques for working with stone. The studу is one of the first-ever attempts to use the art criticism approach to evaluate three sculpture works by Korchovyi: with two of them being complete and one piece still unfinished: the work from the Kaniv sculptural symposium above. First, Altar of Dionysus, an indoor sculpture, carved of sandstone, is discussed. It depicts a bacchante, a woman who holds a bowl and a grapevine, with her hair ingrown in the branches and the two goat heads that flank the composition on both sides; the attributes associated with fertility, sweet delight and also with wild Dionysian origin, while calm or even being asleep at the moment. Second sculptural work is the tombstone of Vasyl Korchovyi’s father, Ivan Sobko. For this reason, its design is marked with Korchovyi’s personal feelings and sentiments. The composition of the sandstone-made sculptural part of the tombstone represents an angel with outstretched wings, inscribed in the area of a trefoil cross. The openwork pattern of weaves of winding shoots with remains of leaves in some places adds depth to the background framed with smoothly polished parts of the surface, where the figure of angel is located, and carefully surround the upper part of the medallion with a photo of the deceased one; the composition that brings the feeling of a deep anguish and imminence, the painful emotions to be eventually accepted.

PurposeThe conditions that domain analysis becomes an academic school of information science (IS) are mature. Domain analysis is one of the most important foundations of IS. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss metatheoretical and theoretical issues in the domain analytic paradigm in IS.Design/methodology/approachThis paper conducts a systematic review of representative publications of domain analysis. The analysis considered degree theses, journal articles, book chapters, conference papers and other materials.FindingsDomain analysis maintains that community is the new focus of IS research. Although domain analysis centers on the domain and community, theoretical concerns on the social and individual dimensions of IS are inherent in it by its using sociology as its important approach and socio-cognitive viewpoint. For these reasons domain analysis can integrate social–community–individual levels of IS discipline as a whole. The role of subject knowledge in IS is discussed from the perspective of domain analysis. Realistic pragmatism that forms the philosophical foundation of domain analysis is argued and the implications of these theories to IS are presented.Originality/valueThe intellectual evolving landscape of domain analysis during a quarter century is comprehensively reviewed. Over the past twenty-five years, domain analysis has established its academic status in the international IS circle. Being an important metatheory, paradigm and methodology, domain analysis becomes the theoretical foundation of IS research. This paper assesses the current state of domain analysis and shows the contributions of domain analysis to IS. It also aims to inspire further exploration.

The two-part series of articles reveals the purpose of the research as determining the place of the concept of strategizing of a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences — Academician, Doctor of Economics, Professor V. L. Kvint in the system of economic research of strategies abroad, in the USSR and modern Russia on the basis of the description of the content and systematization of the basic concepts of strategizing and a review of foreign and domestic regional economic research, as well as the author’s identification of the key characteristics of this scientific school of strategy. The object of the research is the theory of strategies abroad, in the USSR and modern Russia. The subject of the research is the concept of V L. Kvint’s strategizing in the system of economic research on strategy. The methodological tools include techniques and methods of system analysis, comparative analysis, logical analysis, principles of the dialectical-materialistic method of cognition and an integrated approach to the characterization of economic research, methods of generalization and concretization The description of the study uses a historical approach and a temporary generalization based on the key milestones in the development of economic research on the theory of strategy and the methodology and practice of strategizing. As the results of the second article in the series, the author’s characteristics are presented and the role of V. L. Kvint’s concept of strategizing in the system of economic research is determined. The article shows the practice of strategizing the academic school of science of V. L. Kvint as a matrix organizational structure, which indicates its complex hierarchical content and horizontal-vertical relationships between key elements. It is concluded that it is neoclassical and non-classical (atypical) in the sciences of strategy, since, on the one hand, the theory of strategy of V. L. Kvint is a new classical theory, where the classics become part of the modern science of strategy, at the same time, on the other hand, due to its characteristics such as novelty, relevance, universality, practice-oriented, simplicity, uniqueness and interdisciplinarity, it is not burdened with the cumbersome constructions of classical strategy studies, which are rejected, especially from the point of view of the practice of formal strategies and other documents.
