Background: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age which can cause many problems such as hyperandrogenic symptoms and fertility problems. Objective: The present study aimed to determine the relationship of mindfulness with hyperandrogenic symptoms and demographic and fertility factors in women with PCOS. Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted on 181 women with PCOS referred to Firoozabadi and Firoozgar hospitals in Tehran, Iran who were selected using a continuous sampling method and based on inclusion criteria from June 2018 to August 2019. Data were collected using a demographic/fertility form, the modified Ferriman-Gallwey Scale, Ludwig Hair Loss Scale, and Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS). Data were analyzed using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation test, and multiple linear regression analysis. Findings: The mean MAAS score of women was 68.61±9.88 and was significantly correlated with age (P=0.01), wife’s education (P=0.001), wife’s occupation (P=0.005), economic status (P=0.02), husband satisfaction with wife’s body and appearance (P=0.02), body mass index (P=0.01), and duration of marriage (P<0.001). According to the multiple linear regression model, the duration of marriage could predict 22% of the variance in overall MAAS score. Conclusion: Mindfulness is associated with some demographic variables, among which the marriage is its predictor. It is recommended to pay attention to the reported variables in preparation of counseling or educational programs, along with other treatments, for women with PCOS.

Smoking leads to disease and disability as well as harm nearly every organ of the body. Furthermore, smoking of tobacco is known to cause pulmonary dysfunction and lead to complications, pain, or even death. This study aims to measure the risk factors for the respiration of carbon monoxide among smokers. A cross-sectional design was implemented by involving 156 smokers in Karyajaya Subdistrict, Palembang City. The dependent variable was carbon monoxide levels (ppm), while the independent variables were smoking frequency, duration, and the last period of smoking. The carbon monoxide levels (ppm) measured with a PiCO + Smokerlyzer® device from Bedfont Scientific Limited were the research tool and the independent variables of the questionnaire. The pearson Correlation and multiple linear regression were used for the analysis. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis revealed that smoking duration assessment is related to carbon monoxide respiration after controlling smoking frequency, the last period of smoking, and the distance of residence to sources of exposure. The smoker's respiration of carbon monoxide level was 72.5% influenced by the duration, frequency, last period of smoking, and distance of residence to sources of exposure. Reducing the frequency of smoking and stopping may prevent and control carbon monoxide respiration.

The aim of the analysis was to retrospectively assess changes in lung function in copper miners depending on the type of workplace. In the groups of 225 operators, 188 welders, and 475 representatives of other jobs, spirometry was performed at the start of employment and subsequently after 10, 20, and 25 years of work. Spirometry Longitudinal Data Analysis software was used to estimate changes in group means for FEV1and FVC. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to assess an association between workplace and lung function. Lung function assessed on the basis of calculation of longitudinal FEV1 (FVC) decline was similar in all studied groups. However, multiple linear regression model used in cross-sectional analysis revealed an association between workplace and lung function. In the group of welders, FEF75 was lower in comparison to operators and other miners as early as after 10 years of work. Simultaneously, in smoking welders, the FEV1/FVC ratio was lower than in nonsmokers (p< 0,05). The interactions between type of workplace and smoking (p< 0,05) in their effect on FVC, FEV1, PEF, and FEF50 were shown. Among underground working copper miners, the group of smoking welders is especially threatened by impairment of lung ventilatory function.

Abstract BackgroundAnti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) has an important role in the pathophysiological process of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by regulating follicular development and is closely related to the severity of PCOS. Previous studies have suggested that AMH levels in PCOS is related to hyperandrogenemia levels and are affected by obesity and insulin resistance. however, the exact relationship between AMH levels and obesity and insulin resistance remains unclear. We aimed to elucidate the relationship between insulin resistance and obesity and serum AMH levels in women with PCOS. MethodsWe conducted a retrospective study of 220 women with PCOS who had undergone an assortment of physical, endocrine, and metabolic assessments. AMH levels and various other indicators of PCOS in patients with different body mass indices (BMI) and Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) levels were compared. Independent sample t-tests were performed to compare two groups. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to study the correlation between AMH and age, obesity, IR, and other indicators of PCOS, and multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the factors influencing AMH. Bilateral tests were performed for all statistical tests. The data were analysed using SPSS v25.0. Statistical significance was defined as a two-sided P-value of less than 0.05.ResultsWe found that >50% of patients with PCOS had insulin resistance, obesity, hyperandrogenemia, and abnormal glucose tolerance. AMH, testosterone (T), and HOMA-IR levels were affected by age, and older participants had lower AMH, HOMA-IR, and androgen levels (P < 0.05). Glycated hemoglobin levels were higher and AMH, luteinizing hormone (LH)/follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and LH levels were lower in non-obese individuals than in obese individuals (both P < 0.05). Participants in the non-insulin resistant (IR; NIR) group were older than those in the IR group (P < 0.05). AMH, LH, LH/FSH, and T levels in the IR group were significantly higher than those in the NIR group (P < 0.05). AMH levels were positively correlated with LH, LH/FSH, T, fasting insulin (FINS), and HOMA-IR levels as well as the free androgen index and negatively correlated with age, BMI, and sex hormone binding globulin levels (P < 0.05). Through multiple linear regression, we found that AMH levels could be explained by T, LH/FSH, FINS, sex hormone binding globulin, LH levels, and BMI.ConclusionsSerum AMH levels were closely related to metabolic abnormalities in PCOS. In patients with PCOS, AMH levels were positively correlated with HOMA-IR levels and negatively correlated with BMI. Thus, AMH combined with BMI and HOMA-IR levels could help determine the severity of PCOS.

Abstract Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disease in women of reproductive age. Multiple studies have shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) and microRNAs (miRNA) play a role in PCOS. This study aimed to explore the role and molecular mechanism of lncRNA -Regulator of reprogramming (lncROR) in PCOS. Results Expression level of lncROR in PCOS patients was up-regulated, while level of miR-206 was down-regulated in comparison with control group (P < 0.001). Logistics regression analysis showed that lncROR and miR-206 were independent predictors of PCOS. The ROC curve showed that lncROR had a high diagnostic value for PCOS with an AUC value of 0.893. Pearson correlation coefficient indicated that the expression level of miR-206 was negatively correlated with the level of lncROR. CCK-8 assay and apoptosis assay revealed that downregulation of lncROR up-regulated the expression of miR-206, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting cell apoptosis. However, silencing the expression of miR-206 reversed the above effects caused by down-regulation of lncROR expression. Luciferase reporter gene assay suggested that there was a target relationship between lncROR and miR-206. VEGF was proved to be the target gene of miR-206. Conclusions Highly expressed lncROR indirectly up-regulated the expression of VEGF by down-regulating the expression of miR-206, thereby promoting the proliferation of KGN cells and inhibiting apoptosis, and further promoting the development of PCOS.

Objectives. This study aims to determine the changing in hip anatomy parameters with age and reveals the reason for the extorsion of lower extremity in the aged. Design. Retrospective study. Participants. One hundred and forty patients who had received imaging check of the femur and acetabulum between October 2013 and October 2016 were included in this study. Main Outcome Measures. The femoral neck torsion angle (FNTA), neck-shaft angle (NSA), and acetabular anteversion angle (AVA) were measured by an experienced orthopedic surgeon. All the patients’ demographic and physical characteristics including age, sex, body laterality, height, and weight were recorded. The Student t-test, two-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were used for the statistical analysis. Results. The mean age for male and female was 45.01±15.38 and 49.30±17.63 years, respectively. Outcomes revealed that the NSA on the right side of the body, 133.46±4.46° in male and 134.36±4.71° in female, was statistically higher than the left side. Female FNTA had significantly higher values than male (P<0.01). Two-way ANOVA reveals that FNTA and AVA were correlated with age (P<0.05) but not weight, height, or BMI. NSA was correlated with age, weight, and BMI (P<0.05) but not height. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that only age made an independent contribution to NSA. Conclusions. The NSA and FNTA of Asian population may have an obvious decrease whereas AVA increases with ageing, which reveals the reason for the extorsion of lower extremity with elderly. During hip-related surgery in elderly patients, more attention should be paid to these lower extremity anatomic changes.

This study aims to determine how the influence of Intrinsic Motivation and Extrinsic Motivation on Entrepreneurial Interest in the SPP (Women's Savings and Loans) Group. The research method used is the method of qualitative data and quantitative data. While the data used is primary data. The data analysis method in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis to obtain a comprehensive picture of the influence between the variables of Intrinsic Motivation and Extrinsic Motivation on Entrepreneurial Interest by using the SPSS 17 for Windows program. To find out whether there is a significant effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable, the multiple linear regression model is used. The results of hypothesis testing using multiple regression analysis and t-test indicate that: that the t-table value of the Intrinsic Motivation variable is 10,064 > the t-table value (df: 58, : 5%) of 2.0017 so it can be concluded if Intrinsic Motivation has an effect positive and significant towards Entrepreneurial Interest. Furthermore, from table 4.11 it can also be seen that the t-table value of the Extrinsic Motivation variable is 1.224 < the t-table value (df: 58, : 5%) of 2.0017 so it can be concluded that Extrinsic Motivation has no significant effect on Entrepreneurial Interest.
