The analysis of competences that should be formed in the future foreign language teachers by the tools of modern information and communications technologies is presented by the authors. It is been determined that generic (core) competences include: informatics, informational, organizational and methodological competences; profile (specific) competences include the abilities of information and communications technologies usage for such pupils` skills forming as: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The program of electronic study course to support the realization of above-mentioned task is presented. The purpose of the program is to create a modern level of informational and computer culture, acquiring practical skills of application information technologies by teachers and philologists in order to increase the efficiency of the educational process; students of philological specialties and their preparation for the pedagogically effective use of information technology training in further professional activities. The content of the program modules has been given. Module 1. Network technologies in foreign languages, module 2. Office technologies in foreign languages, module 3. Multimedia technologies. The stages of using ICT in education have been identified, they are search, analysis and research of information, software, methodological resources for a lesson preparation with the further discussion; planning of organizational and methodological measures aimed at achieving goals and objectives of a certain lesson type; developing information materials according to the topic and type of lesson using ICT tools; assessment of future foreign language teachers readiness for the introduction of informational materials on the basis of software resources into the learning process. The usage of ICT for listening, speaking, reading and writing skills forming is demonstrated on the examples of software, on-line services and various podcasts.

Recently new objectives have been defined for foreign languages in Dutch upper secondary education. These objectives have served as a starting point for curriculum development at SLO (Dutch National Institute for Curriculum Develop-ment). Within the framework of a task-based syllabus as defined by Breen (1987) a communicative activities programme, mainly focussing on speaking, has been designed by SLO and tried out at several schools. Four criteria for grading and sequencing activities were used: level of control in activities, familiarity with theme, linguistic complexity, and complexity of classroom management. The development of tests on the basis of these new objectives will be a challenging task. Care must be taken that such tests are valid, i.e. that they contain a fair representation of the objectives. CITO (Dutch National Institute for Educational Measurement) has called for a refinement of the criteria on which the assessment must be based.

The implementation of modern information technologies in education presents a promising direction of the pedagogical science since it makes it possible to prove educational services through a specialized information educational environment – a combination of information resources, technical devices, and telecommunication channels enabling the exchange of educational information at a distance. The goal of the present study is to analyze and identify the opportunities of the Moodle platform in education as a whole and in studying English at a university in particular. The methodological basis of the study is formed by the analysis of the experience of teachers of the Department of English Language, the methods of teaching English, and a survey of experts in the area. Using the Moodle platform in the process of teaching future English teachers allows both teachers and students to easily exchange files, carry out personal communication, and receive feedback. The presented electronic course allows teachers to create their own e-learning courses in foreign languages.

The main aim of this study is to determine the advantages and disadvantages of distance teaching and promoting Intercultural Competence in learning foreign languages in the Azerbaijani higher education system. Nowadays the growing tendency of remote education proves that, education has become more reachable in comparison to the past decades. At the same time, distance education has brought new demands and regulations to the education system. The COVID-19outbreak has necessitated the online teaching process resulting in specific problems, including the maintenance of interaction in online teaching. Thus, this study explores both benefits and drawbacks of teaching foreign languages through distance learning in Azerbaijan. In this research, a quantitative research method in the form of a survey has been utilized to explore the tendency of teaching intercultural competence in foreign language classes at universities. Finally, it may be concluded that distance education provides enormous opportunities to practice intercultural communicative competence by using modern information technologies and does not differ much from face-to-face learning.

Introduction. The training of future foreign language teachers should focus on current advances in the IT field, in particular on the use of elements of distance learning in mastering professional and general competencies. One of the common learning management systems that provide distance education is the Moodle system –Learning Management System(LSM), courses, virtual learning environment, or just a learning platform that provides educational subjects and administrators with a large set of tools for computerized teaching and learning. Purpose. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the features and advantages of distance learning in the information and educational environment of higher education, the structure and principles of working with distance courses in the Moodle system during the training of future teachers of foreign languages, which is used at Mariupol State University, and also to determine the advantages of the Moodle learning management system in the educational process. Results. We believe that the Moodle system, which was developed in the logic of the “pedagogy of social constructionism” (P. Berger and T. Lukman), is able to significantly increase the level of education if the work of students is properly organized in it: it will create a solid base and allow to prepare a specialist who is well trained and possesses competencies at a high level. On the example of our distance course “Methodological workshop” for students of OS Master in specialty 014 Secondary education “Language and Literature (English)”, which organically combines the theoretical principles and practice of teaching English, as well as in-depth study of the courses“Methods of teaching basic foreign language in secondary education”and“Modern technologies for teaching a basic foreign language (English) in high school”, which have practical importance in the professional development of future specialists, we analyzed the productivity of work organization and the effectiveness of students learning in Moodle, using the principle of “constructive coordination” (John Biggs). In its construction, we approached the planning of the entire process of studying the discipline as a set of interconnected types of educational activities of students. The principle of “first content, then technology” works here. This course contains three components that are consistent with each other: 1) expected learning outcomes, consistent with the objectives of the educational program and programmatic learning outcomes; 2) assessment, which verifies certain learning outcomes; 3) all types of activities during the course that are aimed at achieving learning outcomes. Conclusion. According to online surveys and our own experience, the use of distance learning courses created in the Moodle system in the educational process of students allows them to better study a specific academic discipline, helps to improve students’ achievement; complements enriches and makes the learning process convenient for both students and teachers.
