Introduction/purpose: The aim of this paper is to present the concept of b(an,bn)-hypermetric spaces. Methods: Conventional theoretical methods of functional analysis. Results: This study presents the initial results on the topic of b(an,bn)-hypermetric spaces. In the first part, we generalize an n-dimensional (n ≥ 2) hypermetric distance over an arbitrary non-empty set X. The b(an,bn)-hyperdistance function is defined in any way we like, the only constraint being the simultaneous satisfaction of the three properties, viz, non-negativity and positive-definiteness, symmetry and (an, bn)-triangle inequality. In the second part, we discuss the concept of (an, bn)-completeness, with respect to this b(an,bn)-hypermetric, and the fixed point theorem which plays an important role in applied mathematics in a variety of fields. Conclusion: With proper generalisations, it is possible to formulate well-known results of classical metric spaces to the case of b(an,bn)-hypermetric spaces.

A sense of unity in any society is a great value. United society is a strong support for rulers and their policies. Public support often legitimizes the actions of rulers. Social unity is built on the basis of shared values and beliefs. The assumed goal of the research is focused on analyzing these categories in the context of their importance for building social unity. Such a goal has led to a question: What is the importance of these categories in building social cohesion for Russians? To solve the indicated problems, theoretical methods were used. Russians are convinced of the uniqueness of their society. This sense of uniqueness affects the sphere of security. It gives rise to their unwillingness to take part in formal alliances and international organizations, if Russia is not in a dominant position. Such views are deeply rooted in the consciousness of Russian society. Simultaneously, Russia airs grievances against the West, claiming that it does not notice its uniqueness.

Abstract This work presents the design of an inexpensive electronic system to measure water temperature and generate an experimental data set used to verify the fitting between experimental and theoretical curves of a water-cooling process. The cooling constant is computed with three different theoretical methods to check their efficiency and this approach allows the association of theoretical and experimental aspects of physics, mathematics and electronic instrumentation, which can motivate interesting discussions in the classroom.

The Binary-Encounter Bethe approach was applied to the estimation of total ionization induced by electron impact in metastable states of diatomic molecules. The cross sections recently obtained for N2 and CO are reviewed and the new results for H2 are presented, discussing their reliability through the comparison with other theoretical methods.

Recently, the capture of carbon dioxide, the primary greenhouse gas, has attracted particular interest from researchers worldwide. In the present work, several theoretical methods have been used to study adsorption of CO2 molecules on Li+-decorated coronene (Li+@coronene). It has been established that Li+ can be strongly anchored on coronene, and then a physical adsorption of CO2 will occur in the vicinity of this cation. Moreover, such a decoration has substantially improved interaction energy (Eint) between CO2 molecules and the adsorbent. One to twelve CO2 molecules per one Li+ have been considered, and their Eint values are in the range from −5.55 to −16.87 kcal/mol. Symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT0) calculations have shown that, depending on the quantity of adsorbed CO2 molecules, different energy components act as the main reason for attraction. AIMD simulations allow estimating gravimetric densities (GD, wt.%) at various temperatures, and the maximal GDs have been calculated to be 9.3, 6.0, and 4.9% at T = 77, 300, and 400 K, respectively. Besides this, AIMD calculations validate stability of Li+@coronene complexes during simulation time at the maximum CO2 loading. Bader’s atoms-in-molecules (QTAIM) and independent gradient model (IGM) techniques have been implemented to unveil the features of interactions between CO2 and Li+@coronene. These methods have proved that there exists a non-covalent bonding between the cation center and CO2. We suppose that findings, derived in this theoretical work, may also benefit the design of novel nanosystems for gas storage and delivery.

Introduction: the article considers grounds for criminalistic classification of crimes causing intentional injuries committed by convicts serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty. Purpose: based on the analysis and generalization of theoretical and practical materials, an attempt is made to formulate the most characteristic grounds for the criminalistic classification of the analyzed criminal acts and reveal their contents. Methods: the dialectical method of cognition, general scientific methods of analysis and generalization, empirical methods of description, interpretation; theoretical methods of formal and dialectical logic are used in the research. Results: the article reveals in detail the content of general (territory, situation, community of correctional institutions; prevalence of informal norms of behavior in places of deprivation of liberty, which most convicts adhere to) and private grounds (specifics of personality traits of a criminal, victim and witnesses; specifics of behavior before and after crime commission) for classification of crimes that make up the group for which the investigation method will be worked out. Conclusions: based on the available research, which highlights the universal basis – the criminal legal object, it is concluded that there are two groups of grounds (general and special) for classification of crimes causing intentional harm to life and health committed by convicts serving imprisonment sentences.

AbstractWe consider a semi-open queueing network (SOQN), where one resource from a resource pool is needed to serve a customer. If on arrival of a customer some resource is available, the resource is forwarded to an inner network to complete the customer’s order. If no resource is available, the new customer waits in an external queue until one becomes available (“backordering”). When a resource exits the inner network, it is returned to the resource pool. We develop a new solution approach. In a first step we modify the system such that new arrivals are lost if the resource pool is empty (“lost customers”). We adjust the arrival rate of the modified system such that the throughputs in all nodes of the inner network are pairwise identical to those in the original network. Using queueing theoretical methods, in a second step we reduce this inner network to a two-station system including the resource pool. For this two-station systems, we invert the first step and obtain a standard SOQN which can be solved analytically. We apply our results to storage and delivering systems with robotic mobile fulfilment systems (RMFSs). Instead of sending pickers to the storage area to search for the ordered items and pick them, robots carry shelves with ordered items from the storage area to picking stations. We model the RMFS as an SOQN to determine the minimal number of robots.
