ABSTRAK Kusta merupakan penyakit yang  disebabkan oleh mycobacterium leprae. Penyakit kusta pada stadium lanjut sering disertai luka akibat terjadinya kerusakan saraf pada daerah kaki yang menimbulkan gangguan sensibilitas kelumpuhan otot dan luka penderita kusta sering infeksi dan  sulit untuk disembuhkan karena pasien sering terlambat datang untuk berobat. Perawatan luka kusta dengan menggunakan agen topikal yang tepat merupakan faktor terpenting dalam penyembuhan Luka penderita Kusta . Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini  diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap pentingnya perawatan luka pada penderita kusta di  pusat Rehabilitasi kusta Desa Galang. Adapun kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu berupa pemeriksaan kesehatan dan juga perawatan luka  penderita kusta dengan menggunakan obat tradisional tambar tetanus (LEEA AEQUATA L). Penderita kusta yang mengikuti perawatan luka sebanyak 34 orang. Masyarakat sangat antusias dalam mengikuti perawatan luka yang dilaksanakan serta akan berupaya melaksanakannya secara mandiri dirumah untuk meningkatkan status kesehatan penderita kusta. Kata Kunci : Penderita Kusta, Luka , LEEA AEQUATA L.  ABSTRACT Leprosy is a disease caused by mycobacterium leprae. Leprosy at an advanced stage is often accompanied by injuries due to nerve damage in the leg area which causes impaired sensibility, muscle paralysis, and leprosy wounds are often infected and difficult to heal because patients often come late for treatment. The treatment of leprosy wounds by using the right topical agent is the most important factor in the healing of leprosy wounds. The purpose of this research is expected to increase public knowledge of the importance of wound care for people with leprosy at the Leprosy Rehabilitation Center in Galang Village. The activities carried out are in the form of health checks and also the treatment of leprosy wounds using the traditional tambar tetanus medicine(LEEA AEQUATA L). The community is very enthusiastic about participating in the counseling that is carried out and will try to implement it independently which can improve the health status of leprosy sufferers. Keywords: Leprosy Patients, Wounds, LEEA AEQUATA L.

Background: Chronic osteomyelitis mandibula is one of the complications from dental extraction. Inadequate wound handling can have an impact on the spread of infection in the surrounding tissue like nerve which results in facial nerve paralysis. The purpose is to present a rare case that facilitative nerve paralysis as a result of the spread of osteomyelitis infectionCase Management: A 69 years old woman with chief complains numbness onher lips accompanied by pus out beside the lower teeth. No sistemic disease. Panoramic radiograph showed abnormal bone-like sequester. Extraoral examination appeared the bluish color on the right cheek and there was right facial muscle paralysis. Debridement, sequesterectomy by general anesthesia and medication using ceftriaxone intravenous, ketorolac injection, multivitamin, and corticosteroid, physiotherapy for facial nerve paralyze, also.Discussion: Pathogenesis mandibular osteomyelitis involves contiguous spreadfrom an odontogenic focus infection. The bacteria produce an exotoxin, which, while unable to cross the blood-brain barrier, can have deleterious effects on thePeripheral Nerve System (Fasialis Nerve) in up to 75% of cases, with the severity of presentation correlating with the severity of the infection.Conclusion: Chronic mandibular osteomyelitis can spread the infection to around another anatomy oral cavity like facials nerves.

Background: Many of the tropical diseases are neglected by the researchers and medicinal companies due to lack of profit and other interests. The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is established to overcome the problems associated with these neglected diseases. According to a report published by the WHO, leprosy (Hansen's disease) is also a neglected infectious disease. Methods: A negligible amount of advancements has been made in last few decades which includes the tools of diagnosis, causes, treatment, and genetic studies of the bacterium (Mycobacterium leprae) that causes leprosy. The diagnosis of leprosy at earlier stages is important for its effective treatment. Recent studies on vitamin D and its receptors make leprosy diagnosis easier at earlier stages. Skin biopsies and qPCR are the other tools to identify the disease at its initial stages. Results: Until now a specific drug for the treatment of leprosy is not available, therefore, Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT) is used, which is hazardous to health. Besides Mycobacterium leprae, recently a new bacterium Mycobacterium lepromatosis was also identified as a cause of leprosy. During the last few years the genetic studies of Mycobacterium leprae, the role of vitamin D and vitamin D receptors (VDR), and the skin biopsies made the treatment and diagnosis of leprosy easier at early stages. The studies of micro RNAs (miRNAs) made it easy to differentiate leprosy from other diseases especially from tuberculosis. Conclusion: Leprosy can be distinguished from sarcoidosis by quantitative study of reticulin fibers present in skin. The treatment used until now for leprosy is multi-drug treatment. The complete genome identification of Mycobacterium leprae makes the research easy to develop target specified drugs for leprosy. Rifampicin, identified as a potent drug, along with other drugs in uniform multi-drug treatment, has a significant effect when given to leprosy patients at initial stages. These are effective treatments but a specific drug for leprosy is still needed to be identified. The current review highlights the use of modern methods for the identification of leprosy at its earlier stages and the effective use of drugs alone as well as in combination.

Abstract Background Pandemics, even more than other medical problems, require swift integration of knowledge. When caused by a new virus, understanding the underlying biology may help finding solutions. In a setting where there are a large number of loosely related projects and initiatives, we need common ground, also known as a “commons.” Wikidata, a public knowledge graph aligned with Wikipedia, is such a commons and uses unique identifiers to link knowledge in other knowledge bases. However, Wikidata may not always have the right schema for the urgent questions. In this paper, we address this problem by showing how a data schema required for the integration can be modeled with entity schemas represented by Shape Expressions. Results As a telling example, we describe the process of aligning resources on the genomes and proteomes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and related viruses as well as how Shape Expressions can be defined for Wikidata to model the knowledge, helping others studying the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. How this model can be used to make data between various resources interoperable is demonstrated by integrating data from NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) Taxonomy, NCBI Genes, UniProt, and WikiPathways. Based on that model, a set of automated applications or bots were written for regular updates of these sources in Wikidata and added to a platform for automatically running these updates. Conclusions Although this workflow is developed and applied in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to demonstrate its broader applicability it was also applied to other human coronaviruses (MERS, SARS, human coronavirus NL63, human coronavirus 229E, human coronavirus HKU1, human coronavirus OC4).

AbstractCurrent prevention methods for the transmission of Mycobacterium leprae, the causative agent of leprosy, are inadequate as suggested by the rate of new leprosy cases reported. Simple large-scale detection methods for M. leprae infection are crucial for early detection of leprosy and disease control. The present study investigates the production and seroreactivity of a recombinant polypeptide composed of various M. leprae protein epitopes. The structural and physicochemical parameters of this construction were assessed using in silico tools. Parameters like subcellular localization, presence of signal peptide, primary, secondary, and tertiary structures, and 3D model were ascertained using several bioinformatics tools. The resultant purified recombinant polypeptide, designated rMLP15, is composed of 15 peptides from six selected M. leprae proteins (ML1358, ML2055, ML0885, ML1811, ML1812, and ML1214) that induce T cell reactivity in leprosy patients from different hyperendemic regions. Using rMLP15 as the antigen, sera from 24 positive patients and 14 healthy controls were evaluated for reactivity via ELISA. ELISA-rMLP15 was able to diagnose 79.17% of leprosy patients with a specificity of 92.86%. rMLP15 was also able to detect the multibacillary and paucibacillary patients in the same proportions, a desirable addition in the leprosy diagnosis. These results summarily indicate the utility of the recombinant protein rMLP15 in the diagnosis of leprosy and the future development of a viable screening test.

Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the renal parenchyma is an extremely rare entity. The diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis is usually unsuspected due to the rarity and inconclusive clinical and radiological features. Most of the patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage and are with poor outcome. Radical nephrectomy is the mainstay of the treatment. We reported a case of squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney in a 50-year-old female who presented with the right sided abdomen pain. The patient was treated with radical nephrectomy.

Objectives 1) To assess the impact of multi-drug leprosy therapy on the development of nasal deformities and nasal airway patency. 2) Evaluate the nasal morphology and nasal patency in leprosy patients treated with the multidrug therapy in comparison with patients treated with 1 drug therapy and a group of healthy volunteers. Methods In an overall group of 84 patients studied, 38 were treated with a therapy based on a single drug, and 22 were treated with multi-drug therapy, while 24 subjects formed a control group. We used anterior rhinoscopy to analised the morphology of the nose. We meassured the nasal inspiratory and expiratory resistance of the right and left nostrils and total nasal inspiratory and expiratory resistance at a transnasal pressure of 150 Pa. by using active anterior rhinomanometry. The statistical analysis was carried out using the Varianza analisys. Results The nasal structures in the 1-drug therapy group underwent bone and cartilaginous resorption with an increase in nasal resistances. We found significant statistical differences between the resistance values obtained in this group and the control group (p<0,05). In the multidrug therapy group, the morphology of the nose remains as in healthy patients. No significant statistical differences were found between the resistance values obtained in the multidrug therapy patients and the control group (P>0,05). Conclusions The multidrug therapy prevents developing nasal deformities and maintains a normal nasal airflow.

Smoking belongs to the right of all people, but smoking can interfere with Human Rights because the distribution of cigarette smoke produced by smokers can interfere with the health of people around. In Bali, tourist attractions are one of the non-smoking areas. This is stated in the Regional Regulation of Badung No. 10 of 2017 concerning Non-Smoking Areas. Related to this, the study examines two things, that is, the regulation of No-Smoking Areas in the tourist attractions in Badung Regency and the implementation of the Regional Regulation of Badung No. 10 of 2017 on the tourist attractions. The research method used is empirical legal research that is conducting a direct research followed by analyzing data and presented in qualitative manner. In its regulation, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) as the enforcer of the regional regulation has conducted supervision on tourist attractions and sanctions given in accordance with the Article 21 Number (10) of 2017 of the Badung Regency Regional Regulation. Its application has been done through socialization to the manager of tourist attractions, but the lack of public knowledge about the non-smoking areas in tourist attractions has been appearing as an inhibiting factor.
