Techniques of analysis data are carried out by the process of systematically analyzing and compiling data that obtained from interviews, field research, and studio work, then conducting data sections and organizing data into categories, describing them into units, synthesizing, arranging into patterns, choose which ones are important, and will be studied, and make conclusions so that they are easily understood by themselves and others. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the findings are as follows: 1) Perumah Begu’s ritual is a culture of summoning spirits or ghosts of deceased people to solve problems with their families that have not been completed until the day of his/her death. This ritual was carried out on the first night after the body was buried. This ritual is led by a shaman or (guru si baso) as a media that can mediate between the spirit world and the human world. The implementation is divided into three stages: the preparation, implementation and closing. 2) The musical accompaniment used in the Perumah Begu’s ritual is the gendang lima sendalanen ensembles. In general, the gendang lima sendalanen ensembles is known by three forms of reportoar known as: a) Simalungun rayat b) Odak-odak, c) Patam-patam. 3) The connection of the three forms of music reportoar above are very binding on Perumah Begu's ritual journey from the beginning to the end. Each form has its role and function in the Perumah Begu's ritual that is carried out by the Karo community.

This chapter discusses shamanism, explaining the ethos and mythology of several indigenous societies, and how these belief systems relate to the design of art and music. First, a general overview of shamanism is provided, which outlines the typical role and function of a shaman. An explanation of the shamanic visionary experience, a type of altered state of consciousness, is then provided. Following this, the chapter explores a variety of visual art from indigenous shamanic cultures, including examples from San, Native American, Huichol, Tukano, and Shipibo traditions. The sound and music of shamanic and trance cultures is also discussed, with reference to Vodou, Tukano, Mazatec, Kiowa, and Mayan examples, and relevant field recordings. Through the course of this discussion, the chapter establishes a view of how shamanic art and music invoke a sense of the spirit world, which informs the subsequent discourse of Inner Sound.

The Ju/’hoan Bushmen or San of southern Africa host one of the oldest surviving dance forms. Openly conducted in public for the whole community, the dance serves as the primary locus for healing, conflict resolution, wellbeing, rejuvenation, social reunion, spiritual expression and performance art. Central to the dance is awakening n/om, what the Bushmen regard as a vibrational force that resides in the body of the strongest dancers. Often described as an energy or power that makes the body shake, n/om is more accurately a blend of somatic vibration, heightened emotion and sacred song. N/om is also the source of a dancer’s capacity to heal sickness in themselves and others. The following composite account of an insider’s perspective of the n/om dance is based on decades of field research interviews with Ju/’hoan n/om dancers and our own experience as accepted members of several Bushman dance communities. We focus on the experience of n/om in the body and how this enables the dancer to dance between two worlds – that of everyday knowing and the ineffable spiritual realm or what the Ju/’hoansi call second creation and first creation, respectively.

Intercellular communication mediated by extracellular vesicles is crucial for preserving vascular integrity and in the development of cardiovascular disease. Extracellular vesicles consist of apoptotic bodies, microvesicles, and exosomes that can be found in almost every fluid compartment of the body like blood, saliva, and urine. In the recent years, a lot of reports came up suggesting that major cardiovascular and metabolic pathologies like atherogenesis, heart failure, or diabetes are highly influenced by transfer of microRNAs via extracellular vesicles leading to altered protein expression and phenotypes of recipient cells. The following review will summarize the fast developing field of intercellular signaling in cardiovascular biology by microRNA-containing extracellular vesicles.

Abstract The role and function of children’s ministry during the first six months of the Covid-19 pandemic is explored, including a comparison of observations from four different contexts: Norway, South Africa, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom. Theological reflection examines the emerging ecclesiologies, form and adaptation of sacramental practices and pastoral care of families during this time of crisis. This investigation acknowledges awareness that there were significant restrictions and consequent challenges facing churches during this time, causing implications on children’s ministry that were unprecedented and frustrating for the Church on a global scale. Observations and recommendations are presented to aid churches globally in ensuring that children’s ministry during such times of crisis is child-centred, values the child as part of the body of Christ, fosters intergenerational role modelling and solidarity, and helps rather than hinders children on their spiritual journey.

The existence and function of language  as a medium of communication covers all fields of human life including knowledge, one of them is the history of human civilization; how humans survived, how human utilized nature for their lives, and how nature provides all the necessities for humans. How important the existence of a language in museums and what language functions used in museums both in informations given by the museum guides and on the displays accompanying objects and pictures are the aims of this research. The methods used are the combination between field research and library research. The results show that generally the existence of Indonesian language plays more important role than English and both languages have two main functions; communicative function and informative function.
