Abstract Lithium-Sulfur Batteries (LSBs) are one of the main contenders for next generation post lithium-ion batteries. As the process of scientific discovery advances, many of the challenges that prevent the commercial deployment of LSBs, specially at the most fundamental materials level, are slowly being addressed. However, batteries are complex systems that require not only from identifying suitable materials, but also from knowing how to assemble and manufacture all the components together in order to obtain an optimally working battery. This is not a simple task, as battery manufacturing is a multi-stepped, multi-parameter, highly correlated process, where many parameters compete, and deep knowledge of the systems is required in order to achieve the optimal manufacturing conditions, which has already been shown in the case of Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs). In these regards, manufacturing simulations have proven to be invaluable in order to advance in the knowledge of this exciting and technologically relevant field. Thus, in this work, we aim at providing future perspectives and opportunities that we think are interesting in order to create digital twins for the LSB manufacturing process. We also provide comprehensive and realistic ways in which already existing models could be adapted to LSBs in the short-term, and which are the challenges that might be found in the way.

The epidemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) has necessitated the search for new formats of doing business. Companies that have taken the initiative and taken advantage of e-commerce have been able to achieve significant success. This article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the legislation of Ukraine on the subject of legal regulation of requirements for the form, content and procedure for concluding a business agreement in the relevant field. The main requirements related to the specifics of the implementation of contractual relations in this area are primarily related to the circulation of electronic documents, as well as the need to certify the integrity of the data transmitted by them. As a result of the study, it was found that the basic requirements for concluding a business contract in the traditional form remain relevant in the field of e-commerce. At the same time, the legislation over-regulates some aspects of the contractual relationship, leaving the parties little freedom to choose modern means of communication.


In Language Assessment Across Modalities: Paired-Papers on Signed and Spoken Language Assessment, volume editors Tobias Haug, Wolfgang Mann, and Ute Knoch bring together—for the first time—researchers, clinicians, and practitioners from two different fields: signed language and spoken language. The volume examines theoretical and practical issues related to 12 topics ranging from test development and language assessment of bi-/multilingual learners to construct issues of second-language assessment (including the Common European Framework of Reference [CEFR]) and language assessment literacy in second-language assessment contexts. Each topic is addressed separately for spoken and signed language by experts from the relevant field. This is followed by a joint discussion in which the chapter authors highlight key issues in each field and their possible implications for the other field. What makes this volume unique is that it is the first of its kind to bring experts from signed and spoken language assessment to the same table. The dialogues that result from this collaboration not only help to establish a shared appreciation and understanding of challenges experienced in the new field of signed language assessment but also breathes new life into and provides a new perspective on some of the issues that have occupied the field of spoken language assessment for decades. It is hoped that this will open the door to new and exciting cross-disciplinary collaborations.

The article offers an analysis of the European legislation in the field of creation and functioning of information systems for population registration. The author argues that population accounting is conditioned by the need to solve multiple domestic economic, social and demographic issues, as well as global problems of mankind. The information of the UN Statistical and UN Population Commissions on population and housing stock based on the states information systems formed the main selection criterion. The conducted research allowed us to conclude that there is no uniform approach in the legal regulation of population registration in EU national territories. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Hungary, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Finland have established and operate unified registers containing information about the population. Although the information systems differ, the common feature is that the public nature of the register information is emphasized; it is integrated and unified throughout the territory, the terms central and national are widely used. The author concludes that the study of world experience contributes to the improvement of national legislation and law enforcement in the relevant field of public relations, which is especially relevant in connection with the adoption of Federal Law No. 168-FZ of 08.06.2020 On the Unified Federal Information Register containing information about the population of the Russian Federation.

Genetic modification of lactic acid bacteria is an evolving and highly relevant field of research that allows the engineered bacteria to be equipped with the desired functions through the controlled expression of the recombinant protein. Novel genetic engineering techniques offer the advantage of being faster, easier and more efficient in incorporating modifications to the original bacterial strain. Here, we have developed a modified BglBrick system, originally introduced in Escherichia coli and optimized it for the lactic acid bacterium Lactococcus lactis. Six different expression cassettes, encoding model proteins, were assembled in different order as parts of a modified BglBrick system in a novel plasmid pNBBX. All cassettes included nisin promoter, protein encoding gene and transcription terminator. We demonstrated successful intracellular expression of the two fluorescent proteins and display of the four protein binders on the bacterial surface. These were expressed either alone or concomitantly, in combinations of three model proteins. Thus, a modified BglBrick system developed herein enables simple and modular construction of multigene plasmids and controlled simultaneous expression of three proteins in L. lactis.

Abstract Law Enforcement Defence and Intervention Techniques (LEDIT) are the methods of defence and intervention applied to suspects, criminals, and individuals who threaten security and public order, by the authority granted by law to the gendarmerie personnel who have the duty of security, public order, and safety. The aim of this study is to analyse the martial arts used by law enforcement officers by country. In this study, which was designed for a descriptive purpose, the data were obtained from the websites of the Police and Gendarmerie Forces, from the replies to the defence techniques information request letter written to the embassies, and from the theses and articles published in the relevant field, by using the scanning method. According to the data obtained, it has been observed that many countries use more than one defence technique. As a result, all countries in the world either created their own fighting styles for close-range combat or took them from other countries and blended them within their own styles. The study group of the research consists of the police forces of 22 countries, including Turkey, and 6 countries affiliated to the International Gendarmerie and Law Enforcement Forces with Military Status (FIEP).

The advantages and disadvantages of indices for assessing scientists’ activities using the scientometric databases Web of Science (USA), Scopus (EU) and RSCI (RF) are considered. It is proposed to use such indicators as the citation index and the publication relevance index to objectify the data in addition to the known indicators, namely the number of publications, the number of links, the average number of citations per publication, the Hirsch index. It is shown that the main disadvantage of the h-index proposed by the American physicist Jorge Hirsch for assessing ergonomists’ scientific activities is not taking into account the relevance of breakthrough scientific results and inventions. The rating of 25 leading domestic psychologists and 25 domestic ergonomists is given, which is obtained from the RSCI database and it includes such indicators as the number of publications, the total number of citations, the average number of citations, the average number of citations per publication, and the Hirsch index. It is concluded that using relevance and citation indices is, to a certain extent, evidence of this scholar’ official recognition by the scientific community and the formal confirmation of his authority. It is shown that applying scientometric citation indices and their correct use in assessing scientists’ activities should be carried out by the qualified experts in the relevant field of knowledge.

AbstractWhile unequally resourced partners from the so-called global South are often considered ‘mere sample providers’ in larger international genomics collaborations, in this paper, we show how they strategically work to mobilize their role in a global system of tissue exchange to deliver services for local communities. We unpack how a prenatal diagnostic service for thalassemia in Pakistan emerged out of the maneuvering efforts of internationally connected Pakistani researchers. By tracing the distributed capacities that emerged and circulated as they set about improving medical genetics in Pakistan, we outline some key conditions that led to the establishment of the service: first, the scale of unmet needs that geneticists faced when collecting data as part of their research that made medical genomics a relevant field; secondly, joint efforts between researchers and physicians that were engaged with the challenge of decreasing disease prevalence through diagnostics and abortion; and finally, the ways in which international research collaborations helped generate resources to improve medical genetics in Pakistan. To understand how genetic research and medicine is currently being developed in Pakistan, we need to ethnographically re-center our analyses in ways that allow us to identify the resourceful ways in which researchers maneuvre to secure locally relevant outcomes.
