The improvement of the primary processing of oil flax in the form of a tangled mass of broken stems in field conditions and the assessment of the operation of the KVL-1M unit when processing flax in the field are substantiated. The influence of process factors on the change in fiber quality indicators, rational parameters and operating modes of the unit to increase the efficiency of processing the stem tangled mass of oil flax have been determined.

Introduction. The processe of harvesting fiber flax is characterized by tough interactions of the work tools of the flax puller and parts of plants. Different principles and design of work tools for taking out seed bolls from the stem, used in flax harvesting machines, have both advantages and disadvantages. Single-drum comb deseeders are the most effective, but the level of damage to the stems caused during the working of these mechanisms is high. The purpose of this work is the experimental substantiation of constructive changes in the comb deseeder, which allows reducing damage to the stems of the flax fiber in the process of combing and improving the quality of the flax material. Materials and Methods. Fields and laboratories studies of flax harvesting and technological tests of flax straw and fiber were carried out according to the existing methods and standard protocols (GOST). The influence of the harvesting combine speed and deseeder type (the drum for the taking flax balls off by the stems’ combing and for the transporting removed balls to hopper) on the yield and quality of the fiber were determined. The fiber flax variety Alexim (cultivated by All Russian Research Institute for Flax Production, Torzhok) was used as a plant object and the harvesting was carried out in the vegetation stage “yellow stem” – “full ripeness”. Results. The classical design of the combing drum with four ridges for deseeding was changed to three ones that means only one of ridges should be in the layer of flax stems during the combing process. That design could decrease damage to the stems when deseeding stems. Instrumental assessment of fiber shows that after the deseeding by the threeridges drum the quality of flax straw was 0.97–1.09 numbers that was by 0.19–0.28 numbers higher than after using four-ridges drums. Conclusions. The obtained data indicate that the reducing of the load on the flax stems has a positive effect on the quality of the fibrous products. The yield of long fiber increases by 1.27–1.54% (abs.), and the fiber quality – by 0.3 numbers.

The results of scientific research and practical experience of flax-growing farms have shown that the process of dew preparation of trusts occurs unevenly along the thickness of the stem layer. With prolonged bad weather, flax stalks sprout with grass and are nailed to the soil by rains. In this state, the lower stems in the layer rot and the quality of fibrous products is markedly reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically wrap or fluff the tapes of the stems. Currently, on the country's farms, flax growers prefer fluffing flax-straw belts due to the high productivity and reliable operation of machines in the field. However, existing fluffers confuse the stems and increase their elongation. The authors note that the resulting large disorientation and excessive elongation of the stems in the layer are the main reasons for the low yield of long fiber in the flax mill. Taking into account the indicated problem, the scientists of Kostroma State Agricultural Academy proposed a fundamental-ly new process of fluffing rotted straw and developed a machine for its implementation. The ma-chine ensures the maximum preservation of the initial values of the structural parameters of the stem layer. The article describes the device and the principle of operation of the new two-line fluffer for flax-straw belts, describes the methodology for substantiating its operating modes and the re sults of experimental studies. At the same time, it was found that when the prototype of the fluffer is operating on flax-growing belts sprouted by grass and nailed by rain, it is necessary to set the pick-up drum in such a position in which its fingers will penetrate into the soil to a depth of at least 1.0 ... 2.0 cm. The possibility of increasing the forward speed of the unit movement to 3.1 m / s and more without a noticeable decrease in the quality of its operation was also revealed.

Abstract This article defines fiber quality indicators that differ in laboratory conditions from the upper, middle and lower layers of Bukhara-6 breeding varieties of cotton, in the modern system HVI 1000 SA. Based on the results of the study, histograms of changes in the quality of cotton fiber in the layers of the harem are presented. As an alternative, the quality indicators of yarn obtained in the laboratory spinning device “Sherli” of small size from fiber were determined. As can be seen from the analysis of the test results, it was found that the comparative elongation strength of cotton obtained from the lower layer of the stack, the upper average length, elongation at break, the light output coefficient, decreased compared to other layers of the stack, on the contrary, the index of hip fibers, increased, decreased compared to other layers of the stack. In addition, according to the results of the tests obtained, the fiber viscosity index was obtained – the correlation between the properties of fibers and the properties of yarn, the thread viscosity index was estimated by the CSP (COUNT STRENGTH PRODUKT) coefficient, which was determined by the formula for carded yarn obtained in the laboratory spinning device “Sherli” from fiber stored in the refrigerator. The obtained results showed that the relationship between fiber properties and yarn properties due to the fact that the maturity index of a thread is at the top of the stack compared to the middle and lower part of the stack.

To obtain long and short flax fiber of high quality under the conventional processing technology, retted flax straw of no less than grade 1.5 is required. However, according to some data, low-grade retted straw flax of grade 0.75 and lower used at some flax-processing plants can make up to 30 percent of the total mass of harvested raw materials. To maintain profitability, this retted straw must be processed into short homogenous fiber using new innovative technologies and equipment. (Research purpose) Study of the technological process of primary processing of low-grade retted straw flax, starting from the field and finishing at a flax-processing plant in various technological lines, determination of the rational composition of technological equipment of post-treatment lines of chaff -fiber mass obtained in the field with the flax-harvesting combine KVL-1, as well as determination of quality indicators of the obtained fiber. (Materials and methods) For research purpose, two types of low-grade retted straw were used as raw material: type 1 – retted straw grade1.0, type 2 – retted straw no.0.5, taken from Russian flax-processing plants. Primary processing of retted straw was carried out directly in the field with the flax-harvesting combine KVL-1. Further, the resulting chaff -fiber mass was transported to the laboratory and cleaned in the stationary conditions in various lines consisting of commercially available disintegrator DLV-2 and tow shakers with a lower gilling section. (Results and discussion) Analysis of the research results has revealed that the raw material used – low-grade retted flax straw – features low strength and high separability of fiber. The authors have put forward some recommendations on using the technology of processing low-grade retted flax straw into homogeneous fiber. (Conclusion) The authors have described the design of two technological lines for processing low-grade retted flax straw according to the ‘field-plant’ pattern. Using these lines, one can produce homogeneous flax fiber (monofilament) with an average mass length of 189-195 millimeter, a linear density of 5.6-6.2 Tex and a mass fraction of chaff of 6.7-16.7 percent. It is emphasized that the proposed technologies allow obtaining homogeneous fiber of a grade not exceeding 2 from low-grade retted flax straw. This type of fibre can be used to produce between-joisting and volumetric sealants, nonwoven materials, modified flax fibre, cellulose, technical and medical cotton wool, low-grade yarn, composites, etc.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to study and to analyze the chemical composition and energetical value (caloric) of 8 maize hybrids (Fundulea 376, Olt, Bărăgan, P0216, PR35T36, PR35P12, Feria and Rapsodia) tested under field conditions in a farm from, Rovine village, Ialomita County, under non-irrigated conditions, on 2016-2017. For all hybrids the same cultivation technology was applied. Sowing was carried out between April 20-27, for both years, with a density of 50,000 germinable grains/ha and in September were harvested. The analysis of the productivity elements showed that: the average length of cobs was between 20 to 23 cm; number of rows/cobs ranged from 14 to 18; the number of grains/cobs oscillated between 704 grains/cobs at Baragan hybrid, up to 890 grains/cobs at PR35T36; the Thousand Grain Weight (TGW) recorded values of over 300 grams for tree hybrids PR35T36, P0216, PR35P12; the density of plants at harvesting, main factor for yields grains, oscilated from 42,650 plants/ha in 2016 for Olt hybrid to 49.000 plants/ha at P0216 hybrid in 2017; the grains yields was of 8.4 t/ha at Baragan hybrid and 13.9 t/ha at PR35T36 hybrid. Regarding quality indicators of yields resulted: the hectolitre mass averaged 72.7 kg/hl with variation limits of 70.3 kg/hl and 76.8 kg/hl and the moisture varied between 11.90% and 14.50%. Chemical composition is followed: 10.70-12.70% proteins; 3.7-4.3% lipids; 70.00 - 70.70% glucids. Based on these results , it has been calculated the energy values (caloric). This oscillated between 369.3 kcal./100 grams of Rapsody hybrid and 388.38 kcal. of P0216 hybrid. It can be noticed that the year 2017 was a very favorable year for maize crops in the analyzed area, which led to better results for all the productivity elements, grains yields and chemical compozition for all 8 tested hybrids. Also, we can observed the higher energy value on 2017 by comparison with 2016.
