It is shown that the main parameters that determine the quality of a combine harvester operation are the amount of grain loss and its purity. The total loss of grain is the sum of losses through loose joints during the processes downstream the header and the thresher and separator. It has been established that control over the quality the combine harvester operation during direct combining should be performed in a comprehensive manner with the development of recommendations for reducing grain losses.

Modern methods of monitoring the performance quality of combine harvesters during their testing are applied in a «swath laying» mode. The authors have shown the relevance of a similar assessment method used in the most common “crushing-and-spreading” mode and developed a simple and reliable method and a technical tool for assessing grain losses in the field during the combine harvester operation. (Research purpose) To develop a method for controlling grain loss of a combine harvester operating in a “chopping-and-spreading” mode using a two-chamber sampler prototype. (Materials and methods) The authors have proposed a new design of the prototype of a two-chamber sampler. They have proved that it ensures separate collection of the lost grain resulting from combine harvester units. A limited number of samplers were installed in the field and a method for sampling grain losses from working units of a combine harvester based on the developed sampler was applied. The applied method of control consists in evaluating the test results of a two-chamber sampler prototype during a combine harvester test in a «chopping-and-spreading» mode. (Results and discussion) The authors have developed the prototype of a two-chamber sampler of a fundamentally new design. They offer a method for determining the performance quality of a combine harvester. They have obtained graphs of grain losses distribution across the width of a threshing-and-separating unit and the spreading width equal to the operating width of a header. (Conclusion) It has been established that the use of a two-chamber sampler will ensure separate sequential sampling behind a header, a threshing unit, and a chopping spreader, while excluding sequential overlapping of errors. It has been revealed that the proposed scheme for sampling a grain losses resulting from the working units of a combine harvester will reduce the total number of samplers used - no more than 7 in each replication, regardless of the width of a threshing-and-separating unit or a header.

The technological indices of the efficiency of grain combine harvesteroperation include the quality of the ob-tained grain mixture and the amount of grain loss. The hu-man factor has a great influence on these indices which can be minimized by automating the control of the combine harvestercleaning. We have proposed a design of such a device including a fan drive from an asynchronous electric motor with afrequency converter, servo controls for adjust-ing the angles of the upper and lower shutters, an acoustic grain loss sensor that allows feedback in the control sys-tem and the process controller. As a result, the effect of the internal combustion engine ofthe combine on the shaft rotation frequency will be reduced; there will be no need to use the DC electric drive or a fan mechanical drive; it will be possible to automatically adjust the angle of inclination of the shutters with an accuracy of 0.1°; therewill be the possibility of constructing a cleaning system control algo-rithm based on neural networks. The use of this device will improve the quality of harvesting, reduce grain losses and reduce the amount of impurities in the combine hopper

The authors of the article analyze the possibilities of correct diagnostics of unmanned and electric vehicles on modern power and inertia roller stands. The purpose of this work is to improve the quality of monitoring the technical condition of wheeled vehicles by providing highly informative and stable test modes of operation in the process of their diagnostics. To achieve this target, we have developed test methods for wheeled vehicles, the implementation of which it is proposed to use a hybrid designed stand allows to measure force and power to the drive wheels of the vehicle, and temporal and kinematic parameters of the process of its functioning. The study proved that, to ensure a highly stable and test modes of operation of wheeled vehicles in the process of control of technical condition and diagnosis, you should use hybrid stands.

This article proposes a framework to design and implement e- Health interventions in a comprehensive manner. We draw on complexity science to study the interplay of the ecosystem, the behavior and interactions among its agents. We provide a platform to estimate the Quality of Experience (QoE) to assess the relationship between technology and human factors involved in e-Health projects. Our aim is to estimate QoE in e-Health ecosystems from the perspective of complexity by adopting a methodology that uses fuzzy logic to study the behavior of the ecosystem’s agents. We apply the proposed framework to a remote diagnosis case by means of an ultrasound probe through a satellite link. Despite the ambiguities for determining QoE, the experiment demonstrates the applicability of the framework and allows to stressing the importance of human factors in the implementation of e-Health projects.

Helical milling has been positioned as an alternative to conventional drilling, where the advantages it offers make it very attractive for use on difficult-to-machine alloys such as the titanium alloy UNS R56400. However, the correlation between the indicator of hole quality and the kinematic parameters has rarely been studied. The kinematics are what bring most advantages and that is why it is necessary to know their influence. In this aspect, there are different focuses of problems associated with the complexity of the process kinematics, which makes it necessary to undertake a deeper analysis of the process and to carry out a preliminary study. To address this problem, a DOE (Design of Experiments) is proposed to identify the sensitivity and the main trends of the properties that define the quality holes with respect to the kinematic parameters. At the same time, a nomenclature is proposed to unify and avoid misinterpretations. This study has allowed us to obtain conclusive results that offer very relevant information for future research

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of two different extenders on sperm characteristic before equilibration and post-thaw in the endangered Old Kladruber stallions. Also, the response of individual stallions to the extenders used was tested. Semen was collected from six stallions every other day within one week. After centrifugation of the collected sperm-rich fraction, the supernatant was removed and sperm pellets were divided to two aliquots; these were diluted either with Gent (Minitube, Germany) or privately manufactured lactose-EDTA-egg yolk extender (Lact). Three cryopreserved insemination doses (IDs) from each extender (Gent and Lact) were prepared for each stallion from one collection (108 samples from six stallions in total). As a parameter of quality, the motility (computer assisted sperm analysis), viability (fluorescence staining), and morphology (eosin/nigrosine staining) were evaluated after dilution with freezing extenders (fresh) and after thawing (frozen-thawed). The different effects of chosen extenders on the quality of fresh semen were only manifested in higher kinematic parameters of sperm when the Lact extender was used. However, in frozen-thawed samples, the Gent extender yielded significantly better results in all of the evaluated parameters. The representation of sperm subpopulation was significantly influenced by extender in fresh as well as frozen-thawed samples; moreover, we found a significant effect of freezing on the distribution of these subpopulations. The response of individual stallions to chosen extenders was evident in the different quality of fresh as well as frozen-thawed IDs; Gent extender yielded better frozen-thawed IDs. Based on our results, among others describing quality parameters of ejaculate in endangered Old Kladruber stallions, we can recommend using Gent extender for the production of frozen-thawed IDs.

ABSTRACT Eleven plum cultivars (Prunus domestica L.) for processing grafted on semidwarf rootstock ‘Wangenheim Prune’ and vigorous rootstock ‘Myrobalan’ were densely planted (1000, 1250, 1666, 2500 trees ha-1) and trained to central leader spindle tree. A new training system was applied to obtain trees suitable for mechanical harvesting. The leader was not headed after planting and summer training procedures were performed in May/June. From the third year onwards, renewal pruning was carried out after fruit harvesting. The new training and pruning systems resulted in very fast tree growth, abundant branching, fruit bud formation on young wood and early bearing. The plum trees appeared to be suitable for hand and mechanical harvesting within 3 years from planting. The self propelled straddle combine harvester was able to harvest 2-3 tons of plums per hour compared to 30 kg with hand picking. Harvesting effectiveness was 90-95%. The quality of mechanically harvested plums was a little worse than of those hand picked, but fruits were suitable for processing. The ‘Common Prune’ and the prune type small plums were the most suitable fruit for mechanical harvesting.

In combine harvester threshers currently used energy costs for the extraction of grains from ears are very high. To reduce energy costs, a combine is proposed that would extract grains from the ears by grinding method. When the upper part of the plant is moved by the belt of the upper conveyor along the deck, grains are extracted from the ears. Grain heap containing bruchid weevils, straw particles, chaff, weed seeds, dust and other components falls through the holes of the deck. Primary cleaning of grain heap from impurities with simultaneous removal of surface moisture from grain is advisable to be carried out by flow of drying agent. The drying agent enters the space between the deck and the underlying screen. Bruchid weevil displacement in drying agent flow from deck to screen is divided into stages with bruchid weevil pitch relative to longitudinal axis 15°. Initial stage of bruchid weevil movement in drying agent flow from deck to screen is from position 0 to position 1. Forces acting on bruchid weevil at the beginning of movement at the initial stage are considered. Based on the analysis of forces and the method of constructions, kinematic parameters of bruchid weevil are calculated when it turns relative to the longitudinal axis in the process of moving from position 0 to position 1. The obtained kinematic parameters of the bruchid weevil in the flow of the drying agent, its trajectory from the deck to the surface of the screen create the possibility of designing a rational design of the combine.
