An investigation was conducted at Mithapukur and Razarhat upazila under Rangpur and Kurigram districts, respectively to know the requirements, utilization pattern and repayment system of credit and its effect on modern rice cultivation. A total number of 120 rice growers who obtained credit from Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RKUB) and Grameen Bank (GB) were interviewed. Another 60 farmers who did not take credit from other sources were also studied. The findings disclosed that the client farmers of RKUB and GB used about 78 and 72 percent credit, respectively for Boro rice production and the rest was used for consumption purpose. The cost of credit of RKUB and GB was Tk. 463 and Tk. 20, respectively. The RKUB farmers had to pay Tk. 252 as entertainment cost. The GB credit users borne 1.13 times higher production cost compared to RKUB users for Boro rice cultivation. Loan users achieved 1.21 times higher rice yield compared to loan non-users. The analysis of resources use efficiency revealed that both credit users and non-users rice growers had failed to use inputs efficiently, either the production inputs were overused or underused. Unavailability of credit and weekly instalment system of repaying loan were the main constraints faced by 38 percent RKUB and 53 percent GB credit users. Small farmers were found to avoid cumbersome procedure of obtaining loan from the institutional sources and they felt better to borrow loan from NGOs. High input-intensive Boro rice cultivation needs substantial agricultural credit for the resource-poor Bangladeshi farmers. An investigation was conducted at Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh district to assess loan attainment cost from Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) and its utilization pattern; evaluate the effects of credit on Boro cultivation, and identify the major drivers of the agricultural credit programme. For the study, 140 farmers were divided into two groups: those who took a loan from BKB and those who did not. Results revealed that the borrowers had to pay Tk 10.23 for getting a hundred taka loan from BKB most of which was an unofficial cost. More than half of the obtained loan was used for Boro cultivation whereas 21% was used for family consumption and the rest (25%) was used for other purposes such as reimbursement of the previous loan from formal and informal sources, wedding and other income-generating activities including petty business. BKB credit borrowers obtained more benefits through Boro cultivation than non-borrowers. The major strengths of the BKB’s agricultural credit programme were well-established infrastructure, experienced manpower, country-wide network, and lower interest rate. Whereas complex and lengthy institutional procedures, the inevitability of collateral and poor institutional capacity were being revealed as the weaknesses of the programme. Prevalence of brokers or corrupt officials and political influence were identified as the major constraints for the loan acquirement. This research aims to determine production cost of Sedap Wangi tea using by cost method at PT. Sariwangi A.E.A. TheCalculation of cost production using by cost method process is collected in a production department. Cost method process used weighted average method. Methods and tools of the data collection by interview and collection of data obtained directly from the company, and the result of this research calculation the cost production by using cost method process Produce cost of production is same with the calculation by the company, so it can be said that the calculation of cost production at PT. Sariwangi A.E.A complies done. Calculation of the cost production is influenced by the product is lost in the process and load of cost. Cost of the highest production at PT. Sariwangi A.E.A contained in quartile 4 the period October-Decemberbecause in that period decreased production yield and many products lost in the process. Cost of production in the quartile 4 of Rp 54.742. Lowest Cost of production happen in quartile 2 period April-june, because the result of increased production in the period and not a lot of product is lost in the process. This research is to find out determining production cost and selling cost of corn and the affect use of various kinds of seed corn in the determining production cost.  The research was conducted in July - August and used a survey method in Sidorejo Village, Sekampung Udik Subdistrict, East Lampung Regency. The samples of this research are 52 corn farmers selected randomly.  Analysis of data is conducted using the determining production cost, determining selling cost, and one way Anova.  Analysis of the cost of goods production used the margin profit of 15 percent. The results showed determining that production cost is Rp1,383.00/kg for Bisi-18, Rp1,379.28/kg for NK-33, Rp1,448.77/kg for Pioneer-27, and Rp1,359.52/kg for DK-95.  Determining selling cost with profit margin 15% for Bisi-18 is Rp1,590.45/kg, Rp1,586.18/kg for NK-33, Rp1,666.09/kg for Pioneer-27, and Rp1,560.00/kg for DK-95. The average price received by the farmers as much as Rp1,741.04/kg, It means that farmers have benefit from technicial efficiency of corn farming. The use of various kinds of seeds does not affect determining production cost. Key words: determining production cost, determining selling cost, technicial efficiency of corn

A field study was conducted in the ‘haor’ areas of Sunamgonj district, Bangladesh, aimed to investigate the present irrigation practices to identify the related problems for ‘Boro’ rice cultivation. The primary field data were collected by interviewing 120 farmers (landless, small, medium, and large farmers) through survey. Most of the farmers used ‘beel’ (37.5%) as the main source of irrigation water. As water-lifting devices, they mostly used Low Lift Pumps (77.5%). The cost of irrigation was observed the lowest at Derai [Tk. 12,232 ($ 146.784) per season] and the highest was at Dakshin Sunamganj [Tk. 46109 ($ 553.31) per season], respectively. The highest benefit-cost ratio (BCR) was observed at Derai (2.48) and the lowest was at Dowarabazar (2.01). The financial problem, less water supply, lack of irrigation equipment, and knowledge about operating the equipment were identified as the main problems suffered by the farmers. These problems can be solved by distributing irrigation equipments at a reasonable price, and arranging training programs to develop the farmers’ skills.

This study aims to find a comparison of the calculation of the cost of goods manufactured in the CV. Mitra Setia Blitar uses the company's method and uses the Job Order Costing (JOC) method. The method used in this study is quantitative. The types of data used are quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data is in the form of map production cost data while qualitative data is in the form of information about map production process. The result of calculating the cost of production of the map between the two methods results in a difference of Rp. 306. Calculation using the company method is more expensive than using the Job Order Costing method. Calculation of cost of goods manufactured using the company method is Rp. 2,205,000, - or Rp. 2,205, - each unit. While using the Job Order Costing (JOC) method is Rp. 1,899,000, - or Rp 1,899, - each unit. So that the right method used in calculating the cost of production is the Job Order Costing (JOC) method

Five phosphorus rates (0, 5, 10, 20 and 30 kg P/ha) were tested with four rice genotypes in Boro (BRRI dhan36, BRRI dhan45, EH1 and EH2) and T. Aman (BRRI dhan30, BRRI dhan49, EH1 and EH2) season. Phosphorus rates did not influence grain yield irrespective of varieties in T. Aman season while in Boro season P response was observed among the P rates. Application of P @ 10 kg/ha significantly increased the grain yield. But when P was applied @ 20 and 30 kg P/ha, the grain yield difference was not significant. The optimum and economic rate of P for T. Aman was 20 kg P/ha but in Boro rice the optimum and economic doses of P were 22 and 30 kg/ha, respectively. Hybrid entries (EH1 and EH2) used P more efficiently than inbred varieties. A negative P balance was observed up to 10 kg P/ha. Utilization of urea super granule (USG) with raised bed cultivation system for transplanted boro (winter, irrigated) rice production is a major concern now days. A field experiment was conducted in the chuadanga district of Bangladesh to compare the two cultivation methods: deep placement of USG on raised bed with boro rice, and prilled urea (PU) broadcasting in conventional planting. Results showed that USG in raised bed planting increased grain yields of transplanted boro rice by up to 18.18% over PU in conventional planting. Deep placement of USG in raised bed planting increased the number of panicle m-2, number of grains panicle-1 and 1000-grains weight of boro rice than the PU in conventional planting. Better plant growth was observed by deep placement of USG in raised bed planting compared to PU in conventional planting. Sterility percentage and weed infestation were lower on USG in raised bed planting compared to the PU in conventional planting methods. Forty seven percent irrigation water and application time could be saved by USG in raised bed planting than PU in conventional planting. Deep placement of USG in bed saved N fertilizer consumption over conventional planting. Water use efficiency for grain and biomass production was higher with deep placement of USG in bed planting than the PU broadcasting in conventional planting methods. Similarly, agronomic efficiency of N fertilizer by USG in bed planting was significantly higher than the PU broadcasting in conventional planting. This study concluded that deep placement of USG in raised bed planting for transplanted boro rice is a new approach to achieve fertilizer and water use efficiency as well as higher yield and less water input compared to existing agronomic practices in Bangladesh.

A pot experiment was executed to investigate the impact of biochar and compost with water-saving irrigation on the rice yield, water use efficiency, and physicochemical properties of soil. Two irrigation regimes—namely alternate wetting and drying (AWD) and continuous flooding (CF)—and four types of organic amendments (OA)—namely rice husk biochar (RHB), oil palm empty fruit bunch biochar (EFBB), compost and a control—were applied to evaluate their effects. Under the AWD irrigation regime, the maximum grain was produced by RHB (241.12 g), whereas under the same organic amendments, both AWD and CF produced a similar grain yield. Under the same organic amendment, a significantly higher water use efficiency (WUE) was observed from the AWD irrigation with RHB (6.30 g L−1) and EFBB (5.80 g L−1). Within the same irrigation regime, soil pH, cation exchange capacity, total carbon, total nitrogen and available phosphorus were enhanced due to the incorporation of biochar and compost, while higher soil exchangeable potassium was observed under CF irrigation for all treatments. RHB and EFBB significantly reduced the soil bulk density (up to 20.70%) and increased porosity (up to 16.70%) under both irrigation regimes. The results imply that the use of biochar with AWD irrigation could enhance the nutrient uptake and physicochemical properties of soil and allow rice to produce a greater yield with less water consumption.
