An investigation was carried out on the limnological aspects of Ashura beel at Dinajpur district in Bangladesh. Several limnological parameters were evaluated from March 2013 to October 2013 from three sampling sites namely Kajladoho, Burirdoho and Sonnasydoho. Physical, chemical and biological parameters were analyzed fortnightly both at the field level and departmental laboratory of Fisheries Management, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur. Findings revealed that only water level in three sampling sites varied significantly. The ranges of water temperature, transparency, water level at three sampling sites were 24 to 35.50°C, 17 to 27.50 cm and 0.58 to 2.44 m, respectively. Moreover, the dissolved oxygen concentration, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness and phosphate-phosphorus concentration were also remained within optimum ranges. Thirty four genera were recorded where phytoplankton includes 29 genera belonging to four groups such as euglenophyceae, cyanophyceae, bacillariophyceae and chlorophyceae and five genera of zooplankton in the four groups namely copepoda, rotifera, cladocera and crustacean larvae. Phytoplankton was dominated by chlorophyceae and zooplankton dominated by copepoda. The abundance of phytoplankton was positively correlated with water temperature, water level, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, hardness, pH, and phosphate-phosphorus. On the other hand, abundance of zooplankton negatively correlated with water temperature, transparency and water level. However, from the findings of this study suggested that the water quality parameters of the selected sites were found to be suitable for the survival of aquatic organism.J. Bangladesh Agril. A 3-year study was conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assessing water quality related impacts of aquaculture of 250,000 channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) in floating net pens in the Rock Creek Arm of Lake Texoma, Oklahoma/Texas. Five large nylon nets suspended from a floating framework of galvanized metal anchored in open water 100 m offshore made up the net pens with fish stocking densities varying from 88 to 219 fish/m3. Water quality sampling was conducted biweekly from April to September and monthly from October to March at three locations. On all sampling dates field measurements of water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity were recorded at 1 m depth intervals and water samples were collected at a depth of 0.5 m and near the bottom of the water column at each site. Sample analyses included: total alkalinity, total hardness, turbidity, chloride, sulfate, orthophosphate, total phosphorus, nitrate-N, nitrite-N, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, total organic carbon, dissolved organic carbon, biochemical oxygen demand, and chlorophyll a. The results showed statistically significant decreases in water temperature and dissolved oxygen and significant increases in field conductivity in surface waters near the net pens relative to other sampling sites. The most dramatic water quality effect observed during the study was decrease in dissolved oxygen levels near the net pens following lake turnover in the second year.

In the present study an attempt has been made to evaluate water quality and related density of Cladocerans for a period of one year, October 2015 to September 2016. Water quality parameters such as temperature, PH, total dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, total alkalinity, total hardness, chlorides, phosphates, and nitrates are presented here to relate with the abundance of Cladocerans. The Cladoceran abundance reflects the eutrophic nature of the Chakki talab.

The objective of this research was to measure and analyze the water quality parameters including temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide and BOD in reservoir Embung Klamalu Sorong regency, and to know the factors that affected the water quality of Embung Klamalu. Measurement of water quality parameters was done in situ for temperature, brightness, pH and in laboratory for dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide, and BOD. The results showed the temperature at the five observation stations ranged from 26.2 to 29.8 0C, brightness 38 to 46 cm, pH 7.20 to 8.48 mg /L, dissolved oxygen from 7.20 to 8.48 mg / L, alkalinity 100 to 150 mg /L, carbon dioxide from 25.90 to 28.95 mg / L, BOD from 0.20 to 0.38. Refers to the standards of water quality according to the PP. 82, 2001, it could be concluded that water physical-chemical qualities in fish farming locations in the Village Klamalu were still in good condition. Physicochemical parameters were studied for a period of two years from July 2012 to June 2014. The parameters namely air and water temperature were estimated using centigrade thermometer, transparency using secchi disc while pH, CO2, total hardness, total alkalinity, dissolved oxygen (DO) were estimated using HACH water test kit. The highest air and water temperature (31.52°C and 30.38°C) were recorded in September, 2013 whereas the lowest air and water temperature 21.04°C and 20.42°C were recorded in January, 2014. The pH of water was found to alkaline in nature (6.9 to 8.20). The maximum free CO2 value (7.81 mg/l) was recorded in February, 2014 and minimum (2.36 mg/l) in November, 2012.The value of total alkalinity was found to fluctuate from 51.9 mg/l in December 2012 to 90.68 mg/l in December 2013. Total hardness of lake water varied from 37.8 (August) to 47.3 (November) in 2012 and 55.17 (July) to 87.49 (February) in 2013-14 with regular trends in fluctuation. Mean secchi disc reading varied from 1.94±.57 m in 2012-13 and 2.02±0.40 m in 2013-14. Dissolved oxygen was found to vary from 6.10 (February) to 6.80 (November) during 2012, 3.90 (February) to 6.38 mg/l (July) during 2013 with a mean value of 6.4±1.51 and 5.74±0.68 mg/l. Water depth was found to fluctuate from 4.39 to 11.76 m with a mean value of 7.96± 2.56 m for one year study. The present research provides baseline information on changing trends of physicochemical parameters of Kaptai Lake which will facilitate sustainable management and conservation of this lake ecosystem.Res. The Koshi river is the major tributaries of the Ganges which originates from the snowy peaks of Tibetan plateau in the central Himalayas. Its total catchment area is 60,400 km2, of which 28,140 km2 lies in Nepal, while the remainder is situated in Tibet. It passes from Nepal to India via the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve area of Nepal. It destroys large area through floods, especially in India. This paper deals with the air temperature and phyco-chemical parameters like temperature, transparency, pH, oxygen, carbondioxide, alkalinity, hardness, chloride and biological oxygen demand of water of Koshi river at Kushaha area of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. The water temperature was recorded maximum in summer season but the transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity and total hardness were recorded maximum in winter season. Similarly, free carbondioxide was maximum in rainy season and chloride and biological oxygen demand were recorded maximum in summer season. The air temperature and water temperature had positive and significant correlation with free carbondioxide and biological oxygen demand. Dissolved oxygen had positive and significant correlation with pH, total alkalinity and total hardness. The present studies focused on the Physico-chemical parameter and Cyanophitic diversity of Ganga Sagar Lake, Jabalpur. The physicochemical parameters like temperature, water temperature, D.O., pH, free CO2, Total alkalinity, total hardness, calcium hardness, chloride, phosphate and nitrate were studied to analyze the Ganga Sagar Lake, Jabalpur. The study area selected was Cyanophitic diversity has been done with scientific name in this Lake. In these studies, an attempt has been made to identify the taxa of Cyanophyta in Pre-monsoon, monsoon, summer and Post monsoon from July 2017 to June 2019.

Limnological aspects of the Ramsagar lake, a manmade lake of Dinajpur district was studied from January 2013 to August 2013. In this experiment, five sampling points inside the Ramsagar lake were selected and water quality parameters were analyzed fortnightly. Among different physico-chemical parameters, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, total hardness, phosphate-phosphorus and concentration of Chlorophyll-a did not differ significantly except the water level and pH. A total of 29 species of plankton were recorded where phytoplankton comprised of 21 species and zooplankton comprised of 8 species. Chlorophyceae was found dominant throughout the study period followed by Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae. The highest plankton cell density was observed in the month of July and lowest plankton density was observed during the month of January. The study revealed that on the basis of physical, chemical, biological and environmental conditions the water of the lake was found to be suitable for survival of aquatic flora and fauna and also suitable for fish culture.J. The study was made to investigate the potential physico-chemical water quality of Elengena beel. In this study 40 nos water samples were collected from 4 sampling sites (10 from each) of Elengena beel and had been analyzed for some water quality parameters and ranges of results were found as - water temperature, transperancy, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), total solids (TS), total alkalinity (TA), total hardness (TH), chloride (Cl-) and fluoride (F-). silicates (SiO2), free carbondioxide (FCO2), nitrate (NO3-), phosphate (PO43-), colour and odour. Nutrients were determined by following the standard procedures outlined in the American Public Health Association (APHA). The result showed that water temperature, transperancy, depth, pH, DO, BOD, COD, TA, TH, TS, TDS, SiO2 , F-CO2 , Cl- , NO3- , and PO43-were 19.9 ±0.28; 21.5 ± 0.71; 1.0 ± 0.23; 6.8 ± 0.15; 4.1 ± 0.34; 51.8 ± 2.32; 58.61 ± 3.22; 156.2 ± 1.2; 210.5 ± 0.2; 153.8 ±0.90; 170.2 ±0.60; 49.2 ± 0.85; 2.87 ± 0.02; 10.91 ± 1.32; 0.20 ± 0.01 and 0.10 ± 0.1 mg/L respectively. All the measured parameters were within the standard values of WHO. In general the present investigation found that the maximum parameters were not at a level of pollution. In order to stop further deterioration of Elengena beel water quality and to eventually restore the beneficial uses of the beel, management of effluents of Nagaon paper mill in the beel watershed should be given urgent priority.

A study was carried out to assess planktonic community with some physico-chemical parameters of the Gorveshwari river in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. Fortnight water samplings were performed at four sites. Findings revealed that water temperature, water level and transparency were within the optimal ranges- 14.33-31.23°C, 1.38-3.97 m and 43.32- 88.67cm respectively. The values of dissolved oxygen, pH, total alkalinity and total dissolved solids were found to vary 7.16 -9.32 ppm, 6.37-8.93, 28.07- 39.56 ppm and 59.87-133.74 ppm in the four sampling sites respectively. From plankton analysis, 36 genera of plankton were identified of which 27 genera were phytoplankton groups and 9 genera were zooplankton. Among them, Chlorophyceae ranked the first position with highest abundance 3.11±0.12×103cells/L. Euglenophyceae was recorded as the minor group of phytoplankton both in number and density. On the other hand, abundance of Rotifera was found to be higher in number (0.95±0.04×103cells/L), while, Crustacean larvae was noticed as scarcer group throughout the study period. Moreover, from correlation analysis it was observed that the abundance of total phytoplankton and total plankton were negatively correlated with water temperature and transparency where positively correlated with water level, pH, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids and total alkalinity. This study concludes that the fish production suitability of Gorveshwari river is within productive range though some anthropogenic activities affecting the aquatic biodiversity were also observed throughout the sampling period.

Abstract The Jinam River habitats inventory revealed the presence of alluvial valley, cascades, riffle-pools, boulders, cobbles, and gravel as types of substrata. The limnological parameters portrayed average values of air and water temperature, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon di-oxide, total alkalinity, and conductivity. This recent pioneering study on the fish of the Jinam River in the Dima Hasao District of Assam revealed the presence of 18 species belonging to 15 genera, five families, and three orders, which are reported for the first time through this paper. Worth highlighting is the abundance of Barilius bendelisis and Devario aequipinnatus, and the fewer numbers of Chanda nama, these warranting proper management and conservation of the fish for this river.
