Background: Abnormalities or damage to the fallopian tube interferes with fertility and is responsible for abnormal implantation (eg, ectopic pregnancy). Obstruction of the distal end of the fallopian tubes results in accumulation of the normally secreted tubal fluid, creating distention of the tube with subsequent damage of the epithelial cilia (hydrosalpinx). Genital Chlamydia trachomatis infection has a worldwide distribution6 and is now recognized as the single most common cause of tubal peritoneal damage. The study explores the relationship between serum chlamydia antibody titres (CATs) and detection of tubal damage in infertile women. Objective: To Evaluation of tubal and peritonial factors in chlamydia positive infertile women by laparoscope.Methodology: The tubal status and pelvic findings in 138 women underwent laparoscopy for infertility were related to CAT, which was measured using the whole-cell inclusion immunofluorescence test. RESULTS: A total of 138 infertile women who underwent laparoscopic investigation for infertility were identified and they were divided in two groups, on the bsis of presence is absence Chlamydia positive (n=69) and Chlamydia Negative (n=69). Demographic status were almost similar between two groups, however service holder was found significantly higher in Chlamydia positive group (17 vs. 7). Tubal block was found in 44(63.7%) in Chlamydia positive and 37(53.6%) in Chlamydia negative. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.01) between two groups. Site of block & hydrosalpinges was almost similar between two groups. POD was completely obliterated in 10(14.5%) in Chlamydia positive and 3(4.3%) in Chlamydia negative. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05) between two groups. Conclusion: Chlamydia serology is useful mainly as a screening test for the likelihood of tubal damage in infertile women and may facilitate decisions on which women should proceed with further investigations without delay.J Shaheed Suhrawardy Med Coll, December 2015, Vol.7(2); 54-58

Background: Chlamydial infection is considered to be one of the important causes of tubal factor infertility. This study will help to explore the relationship between positive Chlamydial infection and tubal damage in infertile women assessed by diagnostic laparoscopy. The results will help to determine whether a policy of routine screening for Chlamydia antibody is justifiable in infertile women to suspect tubal factor so that they can be taken up for laparoscopy earlier. Methods: A prospective study was performed on 158 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopy as part of infertility evaluation. About 5 mL of venous blood was drawn preoperatively to detect Chlamydia IgG antibody in all the patients by ELISA. The laparoscopic findings were documented and the relationship to Chlamydial antibody evaluated. Results: Of the 158 patients who underwent laparoscopy, 95 patients had evidence of tubal disease as evidenced by unilateral or bilateral tubal block, peritubal adhesions, hydrosalpinx, beading of the tube and unhealthy shaggy appearance. Of the 95 patients with documented tubal disease at laparoscopy, 14 (14.7%) had antibodies to Chlamydia. Of the 63 patients with normal tubes, 12 (19%) had Chlamydial positivity. The difference is not statistically significant. However of the 26 patients who were positive for Chlamydia antibodies 14 patients (53.8%) had abnormal tubes. Out of the 158 patients who underwent laparoscopy 26 patients were positive for Chlamydia. Hence the prevalence in our study is 16.4% (26/158). The sensitivity is 14.7% and the specificity is 81%.Conclusions: This study showed no difference in Chlamydial positivity between infertile women with abnormal tubes and those with normal looking tubes in our population. The absence of Chlamydial antibodies cannot be taken as a marker for normal tubes. Hence screening for chlamydial antibody can neither be used as a screening test for tubal factor infertility nor to decide on the need for laparoscopy in the present population.

Critical bandwidth measurements and sensitivity prediction from the acoustic reflex (SPAR) test results were obtained on 20 normal-hearing and two groups of 10 hearing-impaired subjects each representing mild-to-moderate and severe hearing loss. Results of critical bandwidth measurements indicated that for center frequencies of 1000 and 2000 Hz the critical bandwidth was significantly greater for the hearing-impaired subjects. A statistical analysis of the difference in critical bandwidth between those predicted by the SPAR test to have a mild-to-moderate hearing loss and those subjects for whom the test predicted severe hearing loss indicated no differences in critical bandwidth at 2000 Hz. A significant difference was found at 1000 Hz but in the wrong direction. Analysis of the relationship between predicted slope of hearing loss and critical bandwidth also failed to show significance. Although the data for hearing-impaired subjects fail to support the rationale for the SPAR test, the results for the entire research sample offer substantial support. Further, the ability of the test to predict categorically degree of hearing loss was also strongly supported.

Concrete exposed to hot climatic conditions is prone to plastic shrinkage after casting within the first few hours due to the water evaporation and restraining conditions of concrete. This cracking is more commonly observed in concrete elements with a large surface area exposed to drying. In this research, plastic shrinkage of 13 self-compacting concrete samples with different cement paste volumes and various coarse to total aggregate ratios was studied. Test specimens of fresh concrete were subjected to a wind tunnel, which simulated hot dry environmental condition immediately after casting. It can be observed from the test results that the relationship between free plastic shrinkage and the difference between bleeding and evaporation is direct and linear. Finally, a model for plastic shrinkage estimation was suggested by considering the effect of free plastic shrinkage strain, restraining factor, and tensile strain capacity of self-compacting concrete.

The ASTM C1202 method is observed that the total electric charge passed is not an ideal indicator for classification of concrete quality when different binders are considered. Considering the drawback of the ASTM 1202 method, a simple modification to the ASTM C1202 method is recommended. The modification involves an additional test using curing water as electrolyze solution. The difference in the total charge passed obtained between standard test and test performed in curing water is suggested as an indicator for concrete quality. The test results show that there exists a good correlation between the ACSIRO and the ASTM C1202 methods. The relationship can be formulated as a linear function.

This paper discusses ratchetting deformation of lead-free solder Sn/3Ag/0.5Cu and lead-containing solder alloy Sn/37Pb with several stress amplitudes and stress ratios of the maximum stress to the minimum stress. First the uniaxial ratchetting testsare conducted with three maximum stresses and five stress ratios. The all tests are conducted using cylindrical bulk specimens of the solder alloys at 313 K. The test results show that there is the difference in the viscoplastic deformation behavior between two solder alloys. The relationship between ratchetting strain and time is estimated by Biley-Norton law to explain that the uniaxial ratchetting deformation is strongly dominated by the viscous deformation. Finally, the ratchetting deformation is simulated by the dislocation based constitutive model proposed by Estrin [1]. The simulations show that there is a possibility to simulate the uniaxial ratchetting by clarifying the dislocation mechanism of the solder alloys.

According to the relationship of the viscosity and temperature when the mixture reached Optimum compaction effect and the shear rate, the viscosity shear rate of the testing modified asphalt mixture, 60s-1 has been found. The test results show that the difference between the compaction temperature of the modified asphalt mixture and the compaction temperature under the condition of the best compaction effect is 5°C. It shows that the temperature is satisfied with the specific temperature during construction, so the determination method is workable.

IntroductionAlthough autoimmune thyroid disease is less common in males, it is unclear whether estrogen contributes to the difference in susceptibility among males.ObjectiveTo examine whether circulating estradiol (E2) is related to thyroid autoimmunity in males.Patients and methodsOne-thousand two-hundred and sixty-three males aged 15–94 years were studied. Serum levels of E2, TSH receptor antibody (TRAb), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb), free thyroxine (FT4), and TSH were measured by ELISA.ResultsCirculating E2varied widely in males, ranging 18.4–403.7 pmol/l with a mean value of 136.2±51.7 pmol/l. E2increased with age (r=0.18,P<0.001). No relationship between E2and BMI was found. When comparing the difference in E2according to the test results of TRAb, TPOAb, and TgAb, it was found that E2was significantly higher in subjects with positive TRAb (TRAb positive, E2=170.3±59.8 pmol/l; TRAb negative, E2=134.0±50.6 pmol/l;P<0.001). No difference in E2was demonstrated according to the results of TPOAb or TgAb. Logistic regression analysis showed that E2was a determinant of positive TRAb, independent of age and BMI. There was no relationship between serum E2and TSH or FT4. However, E2was negatively related to TSH (r=−0.45,P<0.01) in subjects whose TSH levels fell below the reference range (0.3–4.2 mIU/l).ConclusionHigher circulating E2is related to thyroid autoimmunity in males as reflected by positive TRAb.

Meta-analysis is a set of statistical procedures for synthesizing research results from a number of different studies. An estimate of a statistical effect, such as the difference in disease severity for plants with or without a management treatment, is collected from each study along with a measure of the variance of the estimate of the effect. Combining results from different studies will generally result in increased statistical power so that it is easier to detect small effects. Combining results from different studies may also make it possible to compare the size of the effect as a function of other predictor variables such as geographic region or pathogen species. We present a review of the basic methodology for meta-analysis. We also present an example of meta-analysis of the relationship between disease severity and yield loss for foliar wheat diseases, based on data collected from a decade of fungicide and nematicide test results.

Given the growth and role of entrepreneurship today, it is becoming increasinglyimportant to understand how new entrepreneurial opportunities get developed. Discussions of the emergence of new entrepreneurial opportunities often include “eureka” moments, but our understanding of how new opportunities get brought forward is limited. We attribute the difference to a loosely defined quality that Kirzner called “entrepreneurial alertness”. Other market actors do not have the responsibility to create innovative market opportunities although they do have an obligation to consider such opportunities once they are available in the marketplace. Consequently, understanding the opportunity identification processrepresents one of the core intellectual questions for the domain of entrepreneurship. So the question of this paper is how are market environments represented and interpreted in the mind of the entrepreneur such that opportunity identification occurs? and what factors impress on it? To achieve this goal we distribute questionnaires between 115 M.A. students from Economics and Management college of University of Sistan & Baluchestan for the years2012 and 2013. Analysis was done by correlation test. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between market disequilibrium, accuracy vs. timeliness, schema complexity, counterfactual thinking, frame-breaking and sensitivity to profit potential and student’s entrepreneurial alertness; but the relationship between ignorance of new resource and excessive optimism or pessimism about resource and student’s entrepreneurial alertness was not significant.

The basis of research aims to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially on the factors that trigger online purchase decisions made. This study is a comparative study because it compares the effect of Online Promotion (X1) and Lifestyle (X2) Online Purchasing Decisions (Y) between the areas of Tangerang City and South Tangerang. The research questionnaire was distributed within 11 days and obtained 165 valid respondents. The questionnaire was processed using the SPSS 20 program, and from the validity test results it turns out that only 38 statements are valid. From other test results, it was found that the statement was constant, normally distributed and did not occure heteroscedastidity and multicollinearity in the two regression equations formed in each region. The relationship between variables in each region is not very strong. The results obtained are that all hypotheses are proven, namely: Online Promotion and Lifestyle Influence on Purchasing Decisions, as well as proven that there are differences in influencing factors in the two regions. The difference that occurs is in Tangerang City the dominant purchasing decision is influenced by the Online Promotion offered, while in South Tangerang the two factors affect equally.
