This study uses the data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, Bangladesh Economic Update, and Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau to investigate the role of higher education in creating new jobs in Bangladesh. Every year about three million youths are entering job markets. But industry and service sectors do not develop much to provide jobs for such large youth job seekers. This challenge can be faced if universities produce graduates with high level skill and innovative quality. With such graduates Bangladesh can create knowledge-based society and more opportunities will be created for them to get jobs in global markets, and graduates can be successful as entrepreneurs and self-employed workforce. Such dispositions demand changes in curricular, teaching and assessment methods to function young generation as active learners and creators. A simple economic model is used to study the relationship between per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the three economic sectors, namely agriculture, industry and services sectors for Bangladesh. Using available data both correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis are used to examine the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variables in the study. The results of this study have implications for economic development policy in Bangladesh.

In modern conditions it is important to develop a systemic and institutional concept of culture as a form of knowledge economy. In order to present a systemic concept of knowledge and culture in the formation of knowledge economy, I think the new meaning of paradigmatic and conceptual aspects of economic science is of particular importance. In addition, the systematic representation of the cognition process is particularly important. As shown by the practice of recent years, the main problems in the form of knowledge technology are solved, which will facilitate the improvement of the “cognitive” function of economic science and enhance its practical benefits. The modern stage of globalization is characterized by a number of specific peculiarities of post-dosystem development, which, in our view, is important to the development of knowledge-based economy (knowledge economy). It is noteworthy that globalization stems from adding global dimensional dimensions to the knowledge economy, such as resource-technological, informative, communicative and institutional structures. In addition, we think it is necessary to understand the knowledge of the knowledge economy. This makes it possible to develop culture with knowledge as a factor of forming a knowledge economy. According to the Postindustural Theory, the main resource of the post-denser economy is information and knowledge, the main type of manufacturing activity is the high level of automation of the production, the science of technologies used primarily from the main technologies, and various services are the most common types of economic activity. In industrial society, the field of agriculture, industry - Industry, Postindustry - determinants are already theoretical knowledge with universities, as a place of active and generating knowledge.

This paper is concerned with the nature of common-sense reasoning and understanding in relation to practical behaviour. It examines the relationship between intuitive knowledge based on everyday experience and institutionalized theory and practice. An analysis of the types of knowledge that guide the selection of actions and understanding in the domain of cooking practice is presented. Verbal transcripts were elicited from participants, with varying levels of experience, of the cooking methods they followed and their underlying rationale. The results suggest that individuals utilize various high level knowledge primitives in combination with pragmatic utility principles in their reasoning. The findings are discussed in the light of recent theoretical approaches concerned with the relationship between knowledge and inference.

Higher education in Saudi Arabia is facing several challenges posed by a set of transformations in society in general, and the economy in particular. As economies become increasingly knowledge-based, universities bear the burden of helping the community transform into a knowledge society. This paper focuses on the most important challenges facing Saudi universities as they shift toward becoming contributors to a knowledge society. Using a descriptive analytical approach, data was collected from several studies and published statistics. A range of challenges was discovered, the most important of them are a heavy reliance on government funding, poor productivity of faculty members, the gap between the outputs of universities and the labor market, the absence of strategic planning for higher education, the absence of a national strategy for scientific research, and the weakness of the relationship between undergraduate majors and the needs of the community.

The literature review thus far has indicated numerous studies have examined the relationship between market orientation (MO)and competitive advantage (CA)leading to greater organizational performance. A substantial number of studies on strategic management orientations have shown significant relationships between MO and organizational performance but direct contribution of CA is still lacking in consensus. Thispaper reviews the literature on the influence of market orientation (MO) towards competitive advantage and the mediating effect of quality assurance in public higher education institutions (PHEIs). The reviews specify that market orientation as the marketing strategic platformis likely to achieve superior value in gaining and sustaining competitive advantage however, within the context of PHEIs such relationships are still inconclusive. Quality assurance (QA) is postulated to have amediating effect in the suggested framework of market orientation and competitive advantage. As QA is becoming a critical factor in the knowledge-based society, thisvariable needs to be explored further in the context of higher education. Thus, the aim of this paper is to accumulate existing literature in the investigationof the relationship between MO and CA as well as the effect of QA towards the performance of PHEIs based on non-financial dimensions.

The structure of Nigerian economy has changed considerably over the years. The economy is classified into five interrelated sectors; the agriculture, Industry, construction, trade and services (CBN 2016). Some of these sectors have contributed to the national output and government revenue at different point in time. Different exchange rate regimes implemented in the country have had varying degrees of impact on the performance of the economic sectors. Depending on the foreign exchange component of inputs into the various sectors and the export earning potential of each sector, sectoral performance has shown high level of sensitivity to exchange rate fluctuations. Fluctuations in exchange rate affect the cost of production in the various sectors of the economy. It is, therefore, not surprising that exchange rate is among the most watched, analysed and government manipulated macroeconomic indicator as it plays a vital role in a country’s level of trade, which is critical for every free market economy in the world. This paper is a review of the performance of the Nigerian economy in the light of the volatility of exchange rates in Nigeria.
