High-value consumer markets are demanding a continuously higher quality of products and enhanced food safety. In association with this, the increasingly competitive global market place and developments in information technology have catalysed the establishment of closer relationships and co-operation between participants in high-value supply chains. These closer relationships enhance the flow of information between participants and their ability to introduce strategies to improve efficiencies in supply as well as to decrease risks to consumers and others in the supply chain. These trends have significant implications to New Zealand farmers who will need to adopt systems to more effectively monitor and record their use of inputs and subsequent farm and stock management and make this information available to those further down the value chain. An inability to respond to these trends may result in farmers as well as processors, limited to servicing only relatively lower value markets. Keywords: agricultural sector, information technology, New Zealand, supply chain integration, supply chain management

In today's highly competitive global market place the pressure on organizations to find new ways to create and deliver value to the customers grows ever stronger. There have been many new ideas and concepts in business management over the last thirty or so years, some of which have endured and others discarded. However, perhaps one of the most significant principles to become widely adopted and practiced is that of just in time, or JIT. It is a philosophy as much, as it is a technique; it is based upon the simple idea that wherever possible no activity should take place in the system until there is a need for it. With increasing pressures on profits, due to the launch of several new models, with marginal differences in prices, Indian Automotive companies would do well to move towards JIT purchasing systems. Given the extent and variety of constraints and the existing purchasing mindset in Indian Automotive industry, it'will take some more time to understand and practice the technique. This paper attempts to understand the possibilities of implementing JIT technique in the Indian automotive industry. This will help the automotive component manufacturers to effectively formulate their marketing strategies to create value to their OEM customers. It also helps the vehicle manufacturers to be competitive in the end market.

This paper attempts to understand the current state of Information Technology (IT) usage in select Indian organizations based on a questionnaire survey of business executives and IS staff of select IT-savvy organizations. In recent years, rapid changes and developments in the IT domain have created new leaders in the market place. Corporates, the world over, are leveraging on these developments through efficient supply chain, inventory control, and business intelligence applications for gaining an edge over their competitors. The Information System (IS) developed by these organizations is non-replicable thus providing the differentiation. Though Indian companies are aware of concepts such as supply chain, inventory control, etc., the actual implementation of such concepts is not that widespread. Also, the IS function in India is yet to establish itself as a mainstream business function. It is in this context that this paper makes an effort to understand the importance of IT as a key driver for business strategy and recommend to the industry to adopt some of the best practices prevailing in organizations worldwide. The analysis of the responses indicates that there is a discrepancy between the opinions of business executives and IS staff regarding the adequacy of the current IT systems. This situation can be remedied by implementing some of the suggestions which are as follows: The business executives and the IS staff should be located in the same place to integrate IT into the mainstream of business. Business intelligence application needs to be included in the portfolio of applications for business use. The Indian industry needs to be stepped up to the ‘informate’ stage as it is still in the ‘automate’ stage. CIOs have to play an important role by linking IT to business strategy. Information needs of the executives are increasing and necessary steps for imple- menting data warehousing and OLAP solutions need to be taken. Supporting IS should be put in place to facilitate decision-making. Key performance indicators (KPIs) should be clearly identified and incorporated into the IS to monitor the health of the organization. These initiatives are expected to have the following implications: tighter integration of IT with business strategy transformation from the ‘informate mode’ to the ‘transformate’ mode implementation of newer business intelligence tools development of information-based decision-making culture better understanding of organization's KPIs by the IS staff.

Globalization is the perception of the world as one big market place. The notion of the boundariless world is expected to produce dramatic changes in key markets, major competitors, and Information Technology products. As a result, organizations are encouraged to rise above the national boundaries and change their orientation to global corporations. Further, the increased spending in Global Information Technology, which is anticipated to grow several folds within the next five years, is adding fuel to this shift. Events such as economic integration of Europe, merging of the companies across national borders, stock exchanges, outsourcing of Information Technology services to the third world countries, and the use of World Wide Web are forcing companies to re-evaluate their Global Information Technology management and to develop Global Information Strategy so as to get the most out of their business in the world economy. As the scope of Global Information Technology spans the global market, it is going to present mangers with a host of thorny issues. This paper suggests the key issues to be used as a guide for the Global Information Technology Managers to be successful in this fast changing technology oriented market, and also recommends Global Managers Evaluation Wheel which can be used for the appraisal of managers, subordinates, peer managers, on-site supervisors and clients working in the global Information Technology environment.

The article analyzes the production of agricultural products in India for the period 2000-2018. - as the basis for the formation of export potential, which has shown an increase in production in almost all major types of agricultural products in India. Today India is a major exporter of agricultural products and foodstuffs and ranks sixth in the ranking of the 10 largest exporters in the world. Its share in the global market in 2018 was 2.2%. ($ 42 billion). India intends in the future to significantly increase the volume of supplies of agricultural products to the world market - up to 100 billion dollars. In this regard, India has developed a new export policy aimed at developing export potential through the production of high value-added products and the development of export infrastructure, which will increase the competitiveness of Indian products in the global food market. The article discusses some aspects of export policy. Particular attention is paid to the formation of clusters and agricultural export zones, the creation of which will attract foreign investment both in agricultural production and in the development of infrastructure in India, and ensure the production of high quality products. An important point in the formation of clusters is the involvement of farmers in the value chain through the creation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), designed to help smallholders overcome shortcomings in production and expand the presence of farmers in foreign markets. The article reflects the infrastructure to support exports and stimulate the production of export agricultural products with high added value. The issues of mutual trade in agricultural products between India and Russia and some directions of its development are considered.
