Liquidity is one of the main factors faced by banking companies because its main relationship is channeling funds from third parties with bank performance. This study aims to examine credit risk which is proxied by Raroc (return adjusted on risk capital) as a mediator of the effect of liquidity (loan to deposit ratio) on the bank performance (return on assets). The analytical tool used in this study is SEM-WarpPLS 5.0, this study shows that credit risk can mediate the effect of liquidity on bank performance. This shows that the greater the credit risk, the smaller the bank's performance. Keywords: Financial Intermediation Theory; Liquidity; Bank Performance.

Objective – Corporate governance is a focus of bank managers and stakeholders, especially after the financial crisis. Contributing to firm and bank difficulties is weakness in managing internally and externally, making governance critical; even more so for banks which play a central role in the economy, allocating capital, lowering risk for businesses and individuals, and ensuring stability and sustainability. Bank failures in the crisis (2008-2016) highlighted governance and risk in developed nations and in developing ones, such as Vietnam. This paper studies governance in bank performance and risk, using theoretical frameworks and empirical study. Methodology – Fundamental governance is reviewed, for banks in particular, in two widely used frameworks. Prior research relates bank performance (share return and return on assets, ROA), risk (capital adequacy ratio, CAR) and governance (board size, BS; number of committees, NC; independent directors to total, NID). Findings – As our models show, NC and NID relate positively to bank performance. CAR has a positive link to governance. Novelty – Our recommendation is that banks in Vietnam must have effective boards to boost performance. Type of Paper: Empirical. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conventional and Islamic banking in Pakistan. For this study, a sample of 19 conventional banks and five Islamic banks was selected. The CAMEL approach is used to evaluate the performance of both conventional and Islamic banks. Ten ratios were used to measure profitability, liquidity and credit risk. Our findings suggest that Islamic banks are less efficient than conventional banks in asset management, management capability and liquidity. Conventional banks have better earning capability in terms of return on assets and overhead ratios. The analysis also shows that Islamic banks have better capital adequacy than conventional banks.

This research is focusing on evaluation of the impact of credit risk on the profitability of selected commercial banks listed on National Stock Exchange. The financial ratios are taken as a proxy to evaluate credit risk and bank’s profitability. Profitability was measured through Return on Equity and Return on Assets whereas credit risk was measured by Pre-Provision Profit to Total Loans and Advances, Loan to Asset Ratio, Capital Adequacy Ratio, Credit to Deposit Ratio and Advances over Loan Funds. Based on the financial information of 2009 to 2017, the study concludes that Credit risk, as calculated from Pre-Provision Profit to Total Loans and Advances, Loan to Asset Ratio, Capital Adequacy Ratio, Credit to Deposit Ratio and Advances over Loan Funds have a non-significant relationship with profitability measured by Return on Assets whereas there is significant relationship exist only between Advances over Loan Funds and profitability measured by Return on Equity. The regression model of ROE shows the model is significant as compared to ROA model. The present study employed Auto Correlation and Durbin-Watson statistics, Unit root test & Multi-Collinearity tests to measure the robustness of time series data. Also the results of the regression analysis show that there exist a negative correlation between credit upon deposit ratio and return on equity. As per the current study, the Indian banks has to keep check on advances upon total funds ratio, as it was found most significant factor impacting the profitability of Indian banks.

There are Capital measured by Capital Adequacy Ratio, Credit Risk measured by Non Performing Loan, and Liquidity Risk measured by Loan to Deposit Ratio. While dependent variable Profitability measured by Return On Assets. This research analyzed using Eviews 7 program for Panel Data Regression. The result of this research shows that Capital and Liquidity Risk has insignificance effect to Profitability. Meanwhile, Credit Risk has significant effect to Profitability

This study aims to examine the determinants of commercial banks’ performances in Indonesia in the period 2008-2017 by their return on assets. Capital adequacy, asset quality, management efficiency and liquidity, and gross domestic product functioned as the predictors. The sample of this study was 25 conventional banks meeting the criteria of the purposive sampling method. The panel data with Eviews shows that asset quality has a negative effect and management efficiency has a positive impact on bank performance. Capital adequacy, liquidity, and gross domestic product growth rate do not affect the bank's performance. Managers need to tighten lending, carry out credit restructuring and manage the balance between assets and liabilities and, supervise credit.

This paper aims to investigate the impact of credit risk on the profitability of the banking sector in Sri Lanka. The profitability is measured with and Return on Assets. At the same time, credit risk is quantified with four indicators: Non-performing loan Ratio (NPLR), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Net Charge off Ratio (NCOR), and Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR). Data from thirteen banks over eight years from 2010 to 2017 was analyzed using panel data regression analysis. The finding shows that the Profitability of the Banking Sector in Sri Lanka has been determined by important determinants such as credit risk. The study further finds that non-performing loans have negative and significant return on assets. However, the net charge-off ratio and the loan to deposit ratio are not important variables for expanding the bank's profitability. On the other hand, the CAR positively impacts returns on assets. The study suggested the need to strengthen the management of credit risk in order to preserve Sri Lankan banks' current profitability.

The study examined “risk management and financial performance of banks in Nigeria” with focus on commercial banks. The broad objective of the study was to ascertain the effect of risk asset management on the optimal financial performance of commercial banks in Nigeria. The study is a longitudinal survey, so the ex-post facto research design was applied. Research data were analysed using generalized method of moments (GMM) and vector Error Correction Model, after testing and adjusting the data for stationarity and Cointegration. The research findings were: Banks’ profitability is significantly influenced in the short run by liquidity risk and in the long-run by credit risk, capital adequacy risk, leverage risk and liquidity risk. Furthermore, profitability measured by ROaA was found to be positively related to liquidity risk but negatively related credit risk. Arising from the findings, there is the need for effective risk management, especially credit, capital adequacy, leverage and liquidity risks, to enhance the profitability of banks. By helping to enhance the going concern of banks, risk management will help to reduce retrenchment and unemployment and hence help to forestall the attendant social vices.

This study aims to examine the effect of credit risk as measured by non-performing loans, the level of capital adequacy as measured by the capital adequacy ratio, debt as measured by debt to equity ratio, and interest income as measured by net interst margin on the level of profitability as measured by return on assets in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research is classified as causative research. The population in this study were all banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2011 to 2015. While the sample of this study was determined by purposive sampling method so that 24 sample companies were obtained. The type of data used was secondary data obtained from www.idx.co.id. The analytical method used is multiple regression analysis with a significance level of 5%. The partial test results show that credit and debt risk have a negative and significant effect on profitability, capital adequacy has no effect on profitability, interest income has a positive and significant effect on profitability. Simultaneous test results show that credit risk, capital adequacy, debt, and interest income affect profitability. Therefore, banks consider the factors of credit risk, capital adequacy, debt and interest income in the context of achieving the expected profit level by taking into account the quality of credit distribution, cultivate capital well and use capital effectively, debt that is made into productive assets is well managed, as well as maintaining loan interest rates offered so as to generate high capital.
