AbstractClassroom simulations can make a significant contribution to learning outcomes in political science courses, provided that they are firmly linked to course content and learning objectives. This article offers a step-by-step decision framework for instructors seeking to use simulations as a core component of their courses, including selection of an exercise, pre-simulation preparation, instructor role during a simulation, and techniques for debriefing after the exercise. Options such as online and face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous, distributed and single classroom, and individual and team formats are compared, with a focus on their associated learning outcomes.

Learning designing becomes an important part of the process to achieve learning objectives. Likewise, when teachers enhancestudents’ scientific literacy, the efforts must also be made from the learning design. The design of learning based on scientific literacy becomes very important when the orientation of science learning is not just to achieve cognitive aspects, but even more to the students' ability to apply science and have the attitude and ability to make decisions related to science in their lives. One important aspect in the design of learning based on scientific literacy is the relevance of the context of science to concepts or knowledge. For students inKepulauan Riau, the maritime context is very relevant to be discussed in the body of science. Through intensive training at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang, biology and chemistry teachers were trained to design science literacy-based learning and maritime-based contexts. The learning design developed refers to the STL (science and technology literacy) approach which has 5 stages of learning, namely the contact stage, the elaboration stage (content), the curriculum stage, decision making, and the nexus stage. From the results of the mentoring by the training facilitator, 2 learning designs were produced (biology and chemistry subjects). The maritime context is integrated in the material Biodiversity (for Biology) and Petroleum (for Chemistry).

In Canada, engineering programs will soon have to show that: i. graduates possess specific attributes, ii. outcomes are assessed in their context, iii. results are used to improve the program. This paper presents a model to meet all three criteria, and provides curriculum control options to fulfil CEAB conditions. It defines proficiency levels and information flow, from stakeholders’ surveys to the fusion of data. Control modules, pre-graduation work experience and post-graduation reviews gather internal and external observations. Coverage of the CEAB attributes by the CDIO Syllabus is summarised. Its utility for meeting objectives about the 12 attributes is clarified. An XML tool upholds coherence between learning objectives and targeted proficiency levels. More than merely instructive, this model displays the characteristics of a convincing demonstration for the CEAB.

Out of all the departments of political sciences in Russia - the Department at MGIMO-University is probably the oldest one. In fact it is very young. While MGIMO-University is celebrating its 70th anniversary the Department of Political Sciences turns 15. Despite the fact that political analyst is a relatively new profession in Russia, it acquired a legal standing only in the 1990s, the political science school at MGIMO-University is almost as old as the university itself. Unlike many other universities, focused on the training teachers of political science or campaign managers MGIMO-University has developed its own unique political science school of "full cycle", where students grow into political sciences from a zero level up to the highest qualifications as teachers and researchers, and campaign managers, consultants and practitioners. The uniqueness of the school of political science at MGIMO-University allows its institutional incarnation -the Department of Political Science - to offer prospective studentsa training in a wide range of popular specialties and specializations, while ensuring a deep theoretical and practical basis of the training. Studying at MGIMO-University traditionally includes enhanced linguistic component (at least two foreign languages). For students of international relations and political science learning foreign languages is particularly important. It allows not only to communicate, but also to produce expertise and knowledge in foreign languages.

The performance of distant students in a simulation exercise for a Small Business Management (SBM) course was compared with that of internal students and the demographic and psychological variables associated with the performance of each student group were examined. Distant students matched or exceeded the performance of internal students in spite of the setbacks associated with distance learning. Work experience and rational information processing were associated with the performance of distant students but not with that of internal students. Distant students proved more able to achieve the multiple learning objectives of the course. Effective online interaction among students can help reduce the setbacks associated with independent learning for distant students and the work experience gap for internal students.

TSTS (Two Stay Two Stray) is one of the learning models often used by educators to make students were doing active learning activities. Still, the educators usually did not pay attention to the lack of that learning model. Some cases found that learning objectives that should have been stressed on the cognitive activities were not achieved because the physical activities are more dominant than cognitive activities during the learning process. This study aimed to investigate whether lesson plans and video of TSTS cooperative learning more emphasized cognitive or physical activities by examining the compatibility between investigated cognitive and physical activities toward the learning objectives of science. There is qualitative research that is analyzed descriptively using the lesson plan sample and video of physics learning applying TSTS. The data analysis of this study was performed by examining a table that contains the possibility of the students’ activities for the lesson plan and students’ activities. That was observed using video during the learning process than were grouped in the physical or cognitive activities based on the operational verb of Bloom Taxonomy. The result of the study is both the lesson plan and video show that cognitive operations are more dominant than physical activities. It means that those activities are following the purpose of science learning. The average of cognitive activities is 77,4%, and physical activities are 22,6%. The educators are suggested to attend the proportion of physical and cognitive activities so that the purpose of science learning can be achieved optimally.
