This study indirectly verifies the possibility of telemedicine for humans through a mobile application (app) targeting pets. It examined the perception of telemedicine services and the current status of the companion animal industry, the app platform, and its applied technology by industry domain, and four representative types of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies applicable in the medical field. A survey was conducted through an app implementing pet telemedicine, and hypotheses were established and statistically tested based on the adoption period of pets, health status, mobile service utilization (as an index measuring the ease of use of recent AI functions), and positive and negative perceptions of telemedicine services. As revealed by prospect theory, users with a negative perception of pet telemedicine tended to maintain negative perceptions about telemedicine for humans. This study proved that the severity of pet diseases and the ease of use of recent AI technologies act as a moderating effect on the perception of telemedicine services through the verification of reinforcement and additional hypotheses. It suggests a plan to overcome sanctions against telemedicine by utilizing AI technology. A positive effect on changing the medical paradigm to telemedicine and the improvement of the medical legal system were also observed.

The mobile industry in recent years has been growing at a speedy pace where the use of cell phone is no longer limited to conventional usage like the voice communication, but has enriched the customer experiences with mobile internet services and other value added services. Along with the growing mobile industry, technology behind it is also changing accordingly. However, the user acceptance of technology depends on various factors that lead to either user acceptance or rejection. This study thus aims to identify the major determining factors that influence the user to use the 3G mobile internet and examines the interrelation among the determinants along with effect of the demographic variable limited to Kathmandu Valley users. The conceptual framework of this study is based on the extended version of Davis (1989)’s technology acceptance model using variables social influence, price perception, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude to use and behavior intention. The primary survey is conducted using a set of questionnaire, which produced 180 valid responses from the mobile users in Kathmandu Valley. The reliability of the data from questionnaire is verified with factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha. The result shows that social influence has significant influence on perceived ease of use while it has no significant influence on perceived usefulness. Price perception, on the other hand, influences the perceived usefulness. Similarly, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use influence the attitude of use, which finally influences the behavioral intention. Along with this, social influence is also found to be the extended factors that can influence the attitude of the users, which in turn affects the behavioral intention. Demographic variables, however in this study, have shown no significant influence on the behavioral intentions. On the whole, the usage of 3G mobile internet service is not seen to be satisfying from the study. The major reasons as surveyed from the users themselves for this lower utilization seems to be higher data costs, presence of cheaper alternatives for internet like Wi-Fi internet, quick drainage of battery and slow mobile internet service provided by the mobile service providers. Thus, for mobile service providers, internet service providers are their direct competitors for 3G mobile internet services. This paper enhances understanding of user acceptance of 3G mobile internet services.

Journal of Business and Social Sciences Research, Vol. 1, No. 2, pp. 135-152

The increasing use of mobile applications by travellers and the high adaption of tourism companies into this new contact and sales platform, made it necessary to comprehensively investigate the mobile application users’ behaviours. This research combines the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to develop a theoretical background in examining travel booking behaviour of mobile application users. The conceptual model suggests that mobile application quality (MAQ) directly affects perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) which influence the intention to use (IU) mobile applications. Moreover, the offline brand trust (BT) has been hypothesised as a moderator between PEOU and PU's impacts on IU mobile applications. Analyses results indicated that system and service quality dimensions of MAQ significantly affect IU mobile application via PEOU and PU. Moreover, offline BT had both direct and moderator influences on the formation of IU mobile application. The study findings contributed to the theory in understanding mobile application users’ behaviours and suggested valuable managerial strategies in the m-commerce context.

During the last decades the economy has undergone a huge transformation in terms of telecommunication industry evolution. The use of mobile applications has been generally accepted in society but still little is known about how customers use these applications and how managers can obtain high levels of return on their investments in this domain. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been used for several years to predict the attitudes and behaviours of consumers of mobile services. However, several authors have recognized the limited applicability when it comes to explaining mobile service acceptance by customers. This paper uses a meta-analytic approach to review the acceptance of mobile services and analyse the relationships between TAM variables and consumer acceptance of mobile services. The authors searched all available academic computer databases to get a deeper understanding of this topic and uncover the most significant drivers of mobile application acceptance by consumers.
