This study presents an overview of current scientific articles that address the reliability and validity of the 30–15 intermittent fitness test (30–15 IFT) as an assessment of aerobic capacity, as well as its use in terms of training programming. The search for and analysis of papers was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. A database search was performed through PubMed, PMC, Med Line, Cochrane Library and ScienceDirect, as well as directly from the author who first presented the IFT 30–15. Type of study: research was included in this paper on condition that (i) the original scientific paper was available in its entirety; (ii) the IFT 30–15 was used to evaluate or verify validity and reliability; and (iii) the IFT 30–15 was used for the purpose of evaluation of training programming. Of the 213 relevant studies identified, 21 were included in the quantitative analysis. All research was conducted on a sample of athletes who are exclusively engaged in team sports. As for the use of the subject test when it comes to programming individualized intermittent training to strengthen aerobic capacity, it seems that the IFT 30–15 test is appropriate and extremely useful for team sports. Regarding the reliability of tests identified in the reviewed literature, all studies indicate that the 30–15 IFT is a reliable test for assessment of aerobic capacity.

Reliability and validity have a well-established place in the development and implementation of educational assessment devices. With the advent of electronic delivery and assessment some of the factors that influence reliability and validity have changed. In order to understand the process involved the authors have suggested that a socio-technical approach to these educational issues gives an economical explanatory system. Within this socio-technical system, the authors show that the way the students extract information from sources is changing to an extent where it is difficult to distinguish between cheating and poor quoting behavior. This has led them to postulate a new classification within validity and reliability – knowledge validity and reliability. They argue that electronic delivery and assessment have not changed their core structures, but rather require revised education and training for both staff and students.

Despite a surge of interest over the past 10 years in young people’s maximal intensity exercise, the growth and maturation of anaerobic performance is still poorly understood. This observation is interesting for a number of reasons. First, during the prepubertal years, children’s physical activity patterns are characterized by short duration but high intensity bouts of effort.5 Second, investigators are limited by the range of available methodologies, most of which are assessing external but indirect mechanical indices of maximal intensity so as to deduce metabolic changes. Third, there are few data available from females. Finally, due to the importance of maximal intensity efforts during team sports and the increasing emphasis on organized youth sport programmes, the differentiation between growth and maturation and training adaptations of maximal intensity performance need to be addressed. As a consequence of these four observations, important reliability and validity issues need to be resolved prior to paediatric exercise scientists determining which key factors influence maximal intensity exercise during childhood and adolescence. This chapter will therefore focus on the variables that have been most commonly measured and review the explanatory factors related to maximal intensity exercise during growth and maturation.

Abstract The aim of this review was to determine whether smartphone applications are reliable and valid to measure range of motion (RoM) in lower extremity joints. A literature search was performed up to October 2020 in the databases PubMed and Cochrane Library. Studies that reported reliability or validity of smartphone applications for RoM measurements were included. The study quality was assessed with the QUADAS-2 tool and baseline information, validity and reliability were extracted. Twenty-five studies were included in the review. Eighteen studies examined knee RoM, whereof two apps were analysed as having good to excellent reliability and validity for knee flexion (“DrGoniometer”, “Angle”) and one app showed good results for knee extension (“DrGoniometer”). Eight studies analysed ankle RoM. One of these apps showed good intra-rater reliability and excellent validity for dorsiflexion RoM (“iHandy level”), another app showed excellent reliability and moderate validity for plantarflexion RoM (“Coach’s Eye”). All other apps concerning lower extremity RoM had either insufficient results, lacked study quality or were no longer available. Some apps are reliable and valid to measure RoM in the knee and ankle joint. No app can be recommended for hip RoM measurement without restrictions.

Purpose The purpose of this review is to systematically explore and summarise the validity and reliability of telerehabilitation (TR)-based physiotherapy assessment for musculoskeletal disorders. Method A comprehensive systematic literature review was conducted using a number of electronic databases: PubMed, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library and CINAHL, published between January 2000 and May 2015. The studies examined the validity, inter- and intra-rater reliabilities of TR-based physiotherapy assessment for musculoskeletal conditions were included. Two independent reviewers used the Quality Appraisal Tool for studies of diagnostic Reliability (QAREL) and the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies (QUADAS) tool to assess the methodological quality of reliability and validity studies respectively. Results A total of 898 hits were achieved, of which 11 articles based on inclusion criteria were reviewed. Nine studies explored the concurrent validity, inter- and intra-rater reliabilities, while two studies examined only the concurrent validity. Reviewed studies were moderate to good in methodological quality. The physiotherapy assessments such as pain, swelling, range of motion, muscle strength, balance, gait and functional assessment demonstrated good concurrent validity. However, the reported concurrent validity of lumbar spine posture, special orthopaedic tests, neurodynamic tests and scar assessments ranged from low to moderate. Conclusion TR-based physiotherapy assessment was technically feasible with overall good concurrent validity and excellent reliability, except for lumbar spine posture, orthopaedic special tests, neurodynamic testa and scar assessment.

Entrepreneurship, especially among university students, measuring perception/tendency has been very popular in recent years due to reasons such as the importance of the subject, research applicability, reaching the target audience and relatively low research costs. In this context, it emphasises that the willingness, determination and predisposition of young people who will enter the business life to make a new venture and do their own business and their career planning are also important for entrepreneurial tendencies. In the context of this study, an adaptation study of the relevant scale developed by Schmidt Bohnenberger, Panizzon, Marcon, Toivonen and Lampinen into Turkish was carried out in order to determine undergraduate students’ entrepreneurial behaviour. The validity and reliability studies of the scale were carried out with the participation of 185 undergraduate students studying in different departments. Exploratory factor analysis was used to serve structure validity. At the end of the study, a seven-dimensional scale consisting of 40 items explaining 89.62% of the total variance was obtained. The internal consistency coefficient of the scale calculated with Cronbach’s alpha was 0.95. As a result, it contributed to the field by introducing a scale with proven reliability and validity.   Keywords: Entrepreneurship behaviour, undergraduate students, scale adaptation, validity–reliability.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of a MinimaxX GPS device (Team Sport 2.5, Catapult Innovations) operating with a sampling frequency of 5 Hz. Aerobic capacity testing can be beneficial to coaches, physical educators, and trainers in the process of designing aerobic training programs. However, testing in a laboratory can be costly. Polar heart rate monitors provide a fitness test that estimates aerobic capacity without having to use expensive equipment. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of the Polar fitness test in comparison to the laboratory test. Eighteen college age students completed the Polar fitness test along with a laboratory test for aerobic capacity. The laboratory test consisted of a maximal Bruce protocol treadmill test while the subject was connected to a metabolic cart. The study found that the Polar fitness test provides results that are not statistically different from the metabolic cart results (t = 1.681, p = 0.111). Additionally, the 2 tests were strongly correlated (r = 0.545, p = 0.019). This indicates that the Polar fitness test may be an appropriate means of aerobic capacity testing for those not needing the accuracy of expensive laboratory equipment.

Abstract. Varimax rotated principal component scores (VRPCS) have previously been offered as a possible solution to the non-orthogonality of scores for the Big Five factors. However, few researchers have examined the reliability and validity of VRPCS. To address this gap, we use a lab study and a field study to investigate whether using VRPCS increase orthogonality, reliability, and criterion-related validity. Compared to the traditional unit-weighting scoring method, the use of VRPCS enhanced the reliability and discriminant validity of the Big Five factors, although there was little improvement in criterion-related validity. Results are discussed in terms of the benefit of using VRPCS instead of traditional unit-weighted sum scores.

Today, worldview, spiritual and moral problems that have always been reflected in education and upbringing come to the fore in society. In this situation, there is a demand for philosophical categories. One of the priority goals of education in modern conditions is the formation of a reasonable, reflexive person who is able to analyze their actions and the actions of other people. Modern science is characterized by an understanding of the absolute value and significance of childhood in the development of the individual, which implies the need for its multilateral study. In the conditions of democratization of all spheres of life, the child ceases to be a passive object of education and training, and becomes an active carrier of their own meanings of being and the subject of world creation. One of the realities of childhood is philosophizing, so it is extremely timely to address the identification of its place and role in the world of childhood. Children's philosophizing is extremely poorly studied, although the need for its analysis is becoming more obvious. Children's philosophizing is one of the forms of philosophical reflection, which has its own qualitative specificity, on the one hand, and commonality with all other forms of philosophizing, on the other. The social relevance of the proposed research lies in the fact that children's philosophizing can be considered as an intellectual indicator of a child's socialization, since the process of reflection involves the adoption and development of culture. Modern society, in contrast to the traditional one, is ready to "accept" a philosophizing child, which means that it is necessary to determine the main characteristics and conditions of children's philosophizing.
