The term dialect refers to a variation of a language that is peculiar to a specific place, city or region, and therefore, can be regarded as the richness of that language. This study aimed to investigate preservice teachers’ attitudes towards Anatolian dialects. A screening model was used. Study sample consisted of 143 first-, second-, third and fourth-grade students of the Department of Turkish Language Teaching of the Faculty of Education of Muş Alparslan University in the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. Data were collected using the “Attitude Scale towards Anatolian Dialects” (ASTAD) developed by Pehlivan (2012). It is a Likert-type scale consisting of 22 items and 4 subscales. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows 22.0 at a significance level of 0.05. Results showed that participants had a moderate level of attitude towards Anatolian dialects. Participants’ attitudes towards Anatolian dialects significantly differed by bilingualism and grade while gender, mother’s and fathers’ educational levels, and socioeconomic status had no significant effect. Based on the results, it is recommended that activities, seminars and conferences be held to inform teachers and preservice teachers about what to do when they encounter students speaking local dialects. Parents and students should also be taught that local dialects are the richness of languages but that they should not use them in school environment.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the entrepreneurship characteristics and metacognitive awareness levels of pre-service teachers. Qualitative research method is used in this study and the study is designed as a relational survey. The sample of the study was 441 pre-service teachers studying at the faculty of education of a public university in Turkey during the spring semester in 2015-2016 academic year. Random sampling was used to determine the sample group. The instruments used to collect the data in the study were “Metacognitive Awareness Scale for Pre-service Teachers (MASP)” developed by Duman (2013) and “Entrepreneurship Scale for University Students (ESUS)” developed by Yılmaz and Sünbül (2009). SPSS-22 package program was used to analyze the collected data. In determining the relationships between the scores from MASP and ESUS scales, pearson product-moment correlation analysis was conducted. In determining MASP’s prediction of the scores from the ESUS scale multiple linear regression analysis was used. The results indicated a positive relationship at medium level between entrepreneurship characteristics and metacognitive awareness levels of pre-service teachers (r=.565 p<0.01). In addition, there are significant positive relationships between entrepreneurship characteristics and all sub-scales of MASP. It was found that the metacognitive awareness levels of pre-service teachers predicted their entrepreneurship characteristics at a rate of 43%. It is possible to say that activities towards improving metacognitive awareness could have positive impacts on entrepreneurship.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between Faculty of Education students’ levels of using cohesive devices and their skills in creating a consistent text. The document review technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was employed in the study. The “Cohesive Devices Evaluation Scale” was employed in determining the coherency factors in the students’ texts, and the “Paragraph Consistency Evaluation Scale” was employed in the evaluation of the consistency of the texts. The study was carried out at the Faculty of Education, Ahi Evran University in the 2014-2015 academic year. The students’ skills in using cohesive devices, elliptical narrative and conjunctive components are varies significantly depending on the department in which they are receiving their education. It is observed that there is a highly significant relationship between the length of the text and coherence and consistency. Again, it is observed that there is a significant relationship in a positive direction between consistency and coherence. A significant relationship at a low level between the students’ skills in creating a consistent text and references, elliptical narrative and substitution of the cohesive devices is also seen.

This study investigates the relationship between motivation and task complexity on performance. Monetary incentives are involved in this study as a moderating variable. The motivation examined in this research is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. A 2x2 quasi-experiment has been conducted and involving 66 university students. Two and three-way ANOVA are used for hypothetical testing. The result shows that individuals with intrinsic motivation have shown better performance than those with extrinsic motivation. After individuals have faced more complex tasks, they achieved lower scores than those who faced less complex tasks. Prior studies suggested that motivation could be destructed by monetary incentives. However, there is no interaction proof when moderating variable is involved. The relationship between motivation and performance is not influenced by monetary incentives. In line with it, the relationship between task complexity and performance is also not strengthened or weakened by the given monetary incentives information. Thus, monetary incentives failed to influence the relationship between motivation, task complexity and performance.
