The purposes of this study were to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards the recommended vaccinations for adults between 19–64 years of age and the associated factors among parents. The survey was conducted from October to December 2018 among a sample of parents randomly selected from five preschools and primary, secondary, and high schools in the geographic area of Naples, Italy. The mean age of participants was 45.2 years (range 19–71). Only 16% of the parents knew all vaccinations recommended to adults between 19–64 years of age. Those being healthcare professionals, having a chronic condition, having received information about vaccinations from physicians, and having a lower educational level were more likely to know the vaccinations recommended to adults between 19–64 years of age. Female participants, those who had received information about vaccinations from physicians, and those who had a lower number of children were more likely to have a positive attitude toward the usefulness of the administration of vaccinations recommended to adults between 19–64 years of age. Among unvaccinated respondents, more than half reported a positive attitude toward willingness to receive a recommended vaccination. This positive attitude was significantly higher among those who considered vaccinations as being useful and among who had received information from physicians. Only 16.9% self-reported to have received at least one vaccination recommended to adults between 19–64 years of age. Those who were healthcare professionals, who had at least one chronic condition, and who considered the administration of the vaccinations as being useful were more likely to have received at least one recommended vaccination. Greater efforts by policy makers and healthcare providers are needed to increase parents’ knowledge on recommended vaccines, and it is also crucial that healthcare providers have a high knowledge and favorable attitudes in order to increase vaccine coverage.

Abstract Introduction Finding effective ways to help pregnant women quit smoking and maintain long-term abstinence is a public health priority. Electronic cigarettes (ie, vaping) could be a suitable cessation tool in pregnancy for those who struggle to quit; however, healthcare professionals (HCP) must be informed about these devices to offer appropriate advice. This study used the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, and Behavior (COM-B) model and Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) to explore HCP attitudes towards vaping in pregnancy and postpartum; beliefs about the health risks of vaping; perceived barriers and facilitators of vaping in pregnancy; knowledge of current guidelines and policies; and training needs. Methods Interviews (n = 60) were conducted with midwives (n = 17), health visitors (n = 10), general practitioners (n = 15) and stop smoking specialists (n = 18) across the United Kingdom. Interview transcriptions were analyzed thematically using the framework approach and the COM-B. Results Discussing vaping as a tool for quitting smoking in pregnancy was prevented by a lack of capability (limited knowledge of vaping, lack of training in smoking cessation); lack of opportunity (restricted by organizational policies and guidelines, lack of time and financial issues impacting on training), and negative social influences (sensationalist media and stigma associated with vaping in pregnancy); and lack of motivation (fear of future litigation and comebacks should adverse effects from vaping arise). Conclusions Factors related to capability, opportunity, and motivation were identified that influence HCPs attitudes and behaviors towards vaping in pregnancy. Gaps in knowledge and training needs were identified, which could inform the development of targeted vaping training. Implications Vaping could be suitable in pregnancy for those struggling to quit smoking. However, HCPs must be informed about these devices to offer appropriate advice. These data extend our knowledge of factors influencing HCP attitudes and behaviors towards vaping in pregnancy. Generally, vaping was perceived as safer than cigarettes, but a perceived lack of evidence, health and safety risks, dependency, and regulation issues were concerning. Considering our findings, greater efforts are needed to ensure HCPs are sufficiently informed about vaping and guidelines available. More importance should be placed on training for all HCPs who have contact with pregnant women.

Abstract Background In the study, it was aimed to evaluate the attitudes and behaviors related to vaccine confidence levels of teachers who are a professional group that can lead the community about vaccination in developing countries such as Turkey. Methods This is a cross-sectional study conducted on 752 teachers from 21 schools in the city center of Eskisehir in the first semester of the 2020 academic year. The questionnaire included the sociodemographic characteristics, vaccine-related information, attitude and behavior questions, and the Vaccine Confidence Scale(VCS) questions. The total score that can be obtained from the VCS ranges from 0 to 80 and high scores suggests higher confidence level towards the vaccine. The cut-off of the scale was determined by ROC Analysis according to the positive attitude towards the vaccine. It was accepted that those who scored 54 and above had confidence in the vaccine. Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used. Results Of the participants, 508 (67.6%) were female and their mean age (SD) was 41.7 (8.3) years. Only 6%(45) of the teachers answered 100% of the knowledge questions correctly. 49.6%(373) of the teachers had positive attitudes towards the vaccine. The total score obtained from VCS ranged from 6 to 80, with the mean (SD) of 59 (14.1). In the study group, 43.1%(324) had confidence in the vaccines. In teachers who had paid vaccinations done on their children[OR, 95%CI: 1.96 (1.37-2.81)], answered all of the vaccine knowledge questions correctly[2.27 (1.15-4.49)] and teachers who advocate the opinion that “it is necessary for teachers to take part in the fight against anti-vaccination groups and movements”[1.82 (1.21-2.76)] were more likely to have confidence in the vaccines. Conclusions The vaccine knowledge levels of the teachers were low and it was seen that approximately half of them had a positive attitude towards vaccines. Teachers with vaccine confidence constituted less than half of the study group. Key messages Increasing the knowledge levels of the individuals may increase the confidence in the vaccines. Health policy makers should organize health education programs to increase teachers' confidence in vaccination considering the fact that they are role models of the communities.

BACKGROUND: Healthcare providers are facing challenges to deliver qualified and efficient health services in response to the current health system. Clinical pathways (CPs) are a tool to achieve the best clinical outcomes at the lowest cost. The implementation should be supported by healthcare professional’s capacity involved in the process. AIM: The aim of the study was to assess healthcare professionals’ knowledge, skills, motivation, and commitment to clinical pathways (CPs) implementation in Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Hospital. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted at USU Hospital with 65 healthcare professionals as participants who consist of 10 specialist doctors, 50 nurses, and 5 pharmacists. These participants were selected using quota sampling and interviewed using a developed and structured questionnaire. This questionnaire was tested for its validity and reliability with r > 0.5 and Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.6. Pearson correlation test with p < 0.05 was used for analyzing the relationship among variables on CPs implementation. RESULTS: The healthcare professionals in USU Hospital had high knowledge, motivation, and commitment, but moderate skills in CPs implementation. There were positive correlations between knowledge and skill (p = 0.039), motivation and skill (p = 0.001), commitment and skill (p = 0.001), and motivation and commitment (p = 0.001) on CPs implementation. CONCLUSION: USU Hospital healthcare professional’s knowledge, motivation, and commitment to CPs implementation were adequate, but their skills were moderate. The motivation is substantially related to the healthcare professional’s commitment to CPs implementation. This study recommended the hospital explore and grow skills in communication, coordination, and affective commitment among individuals, teamwork, and leaders for the sake of willingness to achieve the values or goals of the CP implementation in their organization.

Abstract Background: Physical activity (PA)-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (KABs) are important content of health management. We conducted this study to (a) describe PA-related KABs of Chinese older adults, and (b) examine the association between PA-related KABs and mental health. Methods: This study used data from the 2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). 4048 residents aged 60 years and older were included as study subjects, assessing their PA-related knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and mental health. Comparison of PA-related KABs in urban and rural areas, as well as in different mental health groups were conducted using chi-square test. Ordinal logistic regression analysis was applied to assess the associations between PA-related KABs and mental health. Results: The proportion for knowing about the benefits of physical activity, knowing about appropriate exercise intensity, and knowing about healthy weight were 76.7%, 44.3%, and 75.4%, respectively. 89.2% of the participants hold positive attitude towards physical activity. 45.0%, 12.1%, and 12.9% of the participants reported preferring walking & Tai Chi, ball games, and body building, respectively. Participants in urban areas had significantly better PA-related KABs than those in rural areas (all p-values < 0.001). Adjusted ORs with 95% CI showed that participants who knew about the benefits of physical activity (OR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.02-1.38); hold positive attitude towards physical activity (OR = 1.31, 95% CI = 1.08-1.59); and reported preferring walking & Tai Chi (OR = 1.40, 95% CI = 1.23-1.60), ball games (OR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.17-1.79), body building (OR = 1.33, 95% CI = 1.09-1.63) had significant better mental health. Conclusions: Elderly residents in rural areas experienced significant poorer PA-related KABs than those in urban areas, especially for PA-related behaviors. Better PA-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors were associated with higher mental health in Chinese elderly residents.

Employee engagement is the positive attitude of each employee towards the business and the value of the organization. This research aims to see whether the use of AI-based technology, tools, and software can help management detect intangible things such as employee engagement level and provide clues as to what factors influence it and how management can improve it. This research is a qualitative approach. We interviewed the management and selected employees to determine employee engagement at SML before and after implementing the AI-based application. The interview results compared with the results obtained from the application for six months (Feb - July 2020). The study was conducted on all SML employees, amounting to 39 people. This research has shown that the use of AI based software can significantly help management, not only to find out the status of each employee’s level of involvement but also to anticipate their attitudes and behaviors through predictive indicators. Thus, the company can proactively retain key employees. This research provides new and practical insights and opportunities for company owners and leaders to utilize technology to detect something that is naturally quite difficult because it requires specific knowledge and experience.
