Human factors are important causes of hazardous chemical storage accidents, and clarifying the relationship between human factors can help to identify the logical chain between unsafe behaviors and influential factors in accidents. Therefore, the human factor relationship of hazardous chemical storage accidents was studied in this paper. First, the human factors analysis and classification system (HFACS), which originated from accident analysis in the aviation field, was introduced. Since some items were designed for aviation accident analysis, such as the item “Crew Resource Management”, it is not fully applicable to the analysis of hazardous chemical storage accidents. Therefore, this article introduced some modifications and changes to make the HFACS model suitable for the analysis of hazardous chemical storage accidents. Based on the improved HFACS model, 42 hazardous chemicals storage accidents were analyzed, and the causes were classified. After analysis, we found that under the HFACS framework, the most frequent cause of accidents is resource management, followed by violations and inadequate supervision, and finally the organizational process and technological environment. Finally, according to the statistical results for the various causes of accidents obtained from the improved HFACS analysis, the chi-square test and odds ratio analysis were used to further explore the relevance of human factors in hazardous chemical storage accidents. The 16 groups of significant causal relationships among the four levels of factors include resource management and inadequate supervision, planned inappropriate operations and technological environment, inadequate supervision and physical/mental limitations, and technological environment and skill-based errors, among others.

In order to know the pattern of actual application of human factors criteria by industrial designers an experiment was conducted by asking 87 students of industrial design to evaluate a CAD workstation after completing a course in “human factors in design”. The guidelines chosen for the evaluation were those related to design of visual displays, controls and workstation layout on the CAD system. Since the main objective was to see how many of the principles had become part of their “common sense” they were asked to evaluate the equipment without any reference to any books/notes. The subject's responses were compared with the human factors guidelines using a Chi-square test (0.05 significance). The results pointed out that industrial designers readily accepted general criteria such as visibility, operability, and accessibility but interpretability of the display was frequently unrecognized. Such information could be used by industrial designers and human factors experts to improve their cooperation in the design process and thus increase the acceptance and marketability of the product.

Breast milk is the best food for an infant. Toddlers are faster affected by the chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes when they grow up. The main causes are less quality of getting the exclusive breastfeeding. The percentage of exclusive breastfeeding in Maimunah’s midwifery lab work was only77,09% in 2016. The purpose of this study was to determine those factors that influenced exclusive breastfeeding in Maimunah’s midwifery lab work Palembang. This study was about a quantitative one with a cross-sectional approach and carried on 2nd-15th of August 2016. There were 94 qualified respondents and the data collection was done by using the questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequency test, chi-square test, and logistic regression. The shown that 62.8% who gave the exclusive breastfeeding, 55,3% didn’t work, 47,9% were in an age of 20-30, 59,6% had high education, and 63,8% had children ≥2. Meanwhile, there was a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding with the occupation (p-value=0.000), age (p-value=0.025), education (p-value=0,020), and parity (p-value=0.022). The result of multivariate analysis shown that influential factors of exclusive breastfeeding were occupational, age and parity. Furthermore, the most influential factor was an occupation with OR = 10.197. It was suggested to improve the motivation of working mothers to have the exclusive breastfeeding by facilitating them with the corner of breastfeeding in their office.

Abstract Background: Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) act as the first immunization for the newborns, fortify their immune defense system and eventually reduce the mortality rate. This study aimed to identify the influential factors of EIBF among mothers in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh. Methods: A total number of 421 mothers living in Rajshahi district who had at least one child aged 6-24 months were considered as sample. Mothers were selected using multistage random sampling. This study was conducted from January to March, 2019. The EIBF was measured by a principal question, “Did you provide your breast milk to your newborns within one hour after delivery?” Frequency distribution and Chi-square test and multivariable binary logistic regression model were utilized in this study for getting prevalence and influential factors of EIBF respectively. Results: This study revealed that the prevalence of EIBF among mothers in Rajshahi district was 88.4%. Multivariable logistic model provided eight influential factors of EIBF: (i) husbands’ education level, (ii) husbands’ occupation, (iii) family monthly income, (iv) mothers’ age, (v) mothers’ BMI, (vi) place of delivery, (vii) getting pregnancy with planning, and (viii) mothers taking advice regarding the benefit of breastfeeding during their pregnancy. Conclusions: This study identified several modifiable influential factors of EIBF. The customs, culture and other characteristics are almost the same across the country. These factors could be considered to increase the rate of EIBF among mothers in Bangladesh.

The aim of this study was to compare the demographic factors and the risk indicators for the occurrence of the stroke in the city of Fortaleza with other cities, based on national studies. A transversal study developed with 180 patients who were diagnosed with stroke in nine different public institutions within the period from October 2007 to April 2008. For data collection, a questionnaire was applied by interviewing the patient and/or their companions. The following tests were used for the comparative analysis of epidemiological data: The Chi-Square Test for the adherence and the T-Test for the mean. The patients with stroke evaluated in Fortaleza were younger and had higher rates of hypertension than in the national profile, however, fewer were smokers or consumers of alcohol. It is necessary to increase knowledge about the health of the Brazilian population by region, since there are specific influential factors in the occurrence of stroke.

The rationale of this study is to find out the effectiveness of customer retention strategies from the perspective of the existing customers of a bank in Dehradun (India). The literature suggests that the retention is influenced by four levels namely financial bonds, social bonds, structural bonds and customization bonds along with some additional variables. The questionnaire survey was responded by 108 existing customers of a leading private sector bank. Chi-square test revealed that the effectiveness of retention strategies is independent of demographic variables except education. The factor analysis indicated the grouping of the seventeen variables into three factors namely: Value added services, convenience and business development. Finally, a multiple regression analysis revealed that the factors extracted in factor analysis are significant in determining the effectiveness of customer retention strategies.
