In today’s hyper-competitive manufacturing world, the rapidly changing landscape has put new demands on organizations, and they need to reinvent themselves by injecting new strategies in order to stay ahead of the competition. Therefore, to achieve world-class performance and competitiveness in the global environment and competition, there is immense pressure on manufacturing organizations with limited resources to invariably pursue main drivers to enable them to improve process innovation. In this backdrop, this questionnaire-based study investigates the impact of various enabling practices on process innovation of manufacturing organizations. The questionnaire package included scales of lean manufacturing (LM), organizational culture (OC), human resource management (HRM), total quality management (TQM), supply chain management (SCM) and process innovation (PI). The data were collected through convenient sampling technique from presidents, CEO’s, directors, managers and senior supervisors of different functional areas of large-scale organizations. The theoretical model was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) through AMOS®. The key findings revealed positive and significant relationships of LM, HRM and OC as drivers with TQM and SCM. The results also demonstrated affirmative and significant associations of TQM and SCM with PI. Similarly, the outcomes indicated that TQM and SCM, as carriers, partially mediate the relationships of LM, HRM and OC with PI. Overall, the findings elucidate the imperativeness for manufacturing organizations to reinforce their mediators (TQM and SCM practices) while effectively implementing LM, HRM and OC practices as drivers of PI. The study has important implications for the organizations seeking to determine the relative importance of various practices as an effective source of process innovation.

Purpose The relevance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in contributing to the economy and social development is increasingly felt in the current business environment. Focusing on sustainable development, SMEs have also implemented many acting strategies of large-scale enterprises such as lean and green practices. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the linkage between lean manufacturing practices (LMPs) in SMEs and their sustainability performances. Further, this study explores the relationship between the triple bottom line sustainability performances. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on a survey conducted and data collected from 252 manufacturing SMEs in India. The hypothesized relationships are then analyzed with structural equation modeling. Findings The outcome of the analysis shows that LMPs are positively associated with various sustainability performances categorized as economic, environmental, and social performances. Further, this study shows that environmental sustainability is correlated with economic and social sustainability performances. Research limitations/implications The study conducted was limited to a particular state in India. Moreover, the study uses the data from a cross-sectional survey from single respondents. Practical implications The findings of the study become an added advantage for the managers to convince their various stakeholders for implementing LMPs in SMEs. Originality/value The research findings provide theoretical and practical insights to derive the importance of LMPs in maximizing sustainability performances. It gives an enhanced perspective of the importance of LMPs on the sustainability performance of SMEs.

This was an applied study regarding the objective and a descriptive-correlational one concerning the data collection approach, which was focused on evaluating the impact of organizational culture on applying total quality management along with stressing the mediating role of business ethics. A total of 148 employees of Shirin Asal Company (Tehran Branch) constituted the research statistical population that Cochran’s formula was used to choose 106 subjects as the sample size by a simple random sampling method.Standard questionnaires were employed to gather the essential data. The validity and reliability of variables were also examined and approved. The reliability rates for business ethics, organizational culture, and total quality management were calculated to be equivalent to 0.78, 0.89, and 0.90, respectively. The structural equation modeling method assisted with the Smart PLS2 software was utilized for data analysis. Revealed by the research findings, organizational culture influences business ethics and total quality management. Business ethics was also found to act as a mediating variable in the relationship between organizational culture and total quality management. In conclusion, organizational culture and business ethics affect the satisfactory implementation of TQM, which somehow requires managers and stakeholders to particularly consider these components.

<p>The Background of this research was the trend of companies’ outsourcing human resource (expertise and specialists) to accomplish tasks more cheaply and efficiently to increase productivity. The objective of this research was to find out the impact of employees’ perception of outsourcing human resource on their job satisfaction and turnover intention. To achieve this objective the quantitative research has been done by using explanatory survey method. The design of this research applies quantitative approach. The samples for the study consisted of 115 human resource division employees of three Banks in Jakarta. The primary data in this research was obtained by using closed ended questionnaires. Non probability sampling method with the convenience sampling technique was employed to select the sample. Data analysis used in this research was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The result of this research concludes that employees’ positive perception of outsourcing human resource increases their job satisfaction and decreases their turnover intention whereas negative perception of outsourcing human resource decreases job satisfaction and subsequently increases turnover intention. Based on the result of the research, it is important that a company outsource human resource to increase productivity.</p>

This study aims to explore the impact of lean manufacturing (LM) or transaction-based supply chain management (SCM) on a supply chain relationship (SCR) and supply performance (SP) in manufacturing industries in Thailand. The measurement instruments for LM, SCR, and SP were developed from comprehensive literature reviews, verified by experts, and statistical techniques to assure reliability and validity. The hypothesized model was tested with path analysis of structural equation modeling. It was found that the set of LM, SCR, and SP frameworks were reliable and valid for Thai manufacturing industries. LM had not only a direct effect on the SCR and SP but also an indirect effect on the SP through the SCR. The SCR also had a direct impact on the SP. This paper presents insights into the debate concerning the impact of transaction-based SCM on relationship-based SCM and SP.

PurposeConsumer's environmental awareness and friendliness have been growing, and consumers are increasingly concerned about the impact of hotel operations on the environment. This study evaluated the effect of green practices on the customer's green word-of-mouth (GWOM) intention for hotels with environment-friendly operations.Design/methodology/approachThe data have been collected from tourists by using the judgmental sampling technique, and a usable sample size of 257 respondents has been achieved. The data analysis has been performed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).FindingsThere is a strong relationship between green practices adopted by hotels and the green image of hotels. This study also found that the green image of a hotel positively impacts consumer green satisfaction and green trust, and these two variables have significant influence over the GWOM.Practical implicationsThe study can be helpful in the promotion of environmentally sustainable consumer behavior in response to a stimulus being generated by the marketers and policymakers.Social implicationsThis study will further help society to share and discuss favorable information about environmental sustainability through GWOM.Originality/valueThe study investigated the effect of green hotels on GWOM approximately after one year of the COVID-19 outbreak. Hence, the results can ascertain to be the basis of the new policies of the hotels in post-COVID world.

Purpose – This aim of this paper, from a systems perspective, is to focus on the effects of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology adoption and information sharing within a manufacturing facility on the just-in-time (JIT) and total quality management (TQM) practices and the subsequent impact on operational performance of manufacturing firms. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from 104 manufacturing managers, supervisors and quality professionals and analyzed using a path analysis methodology. Findings – RFID technology utilization and supply chain information sharing combine to enhance a manufacturing organization’s JIT and TQM capabilities which lead to improve operational performance. Research limitations/implications – Although the sample size is large enough to support path analysis, it is not of sufficient size to support structural equation modeling. This limitation precludes assessing the model as a whole. Direct and indirect effects are assessed, however. Practical implications – Manufacturing managers are provided with a framework for assessing the synergistic impact of combining RFID technology and information sharing on the JIT and TQM capabilities and the subsequent impact on the operational performance of the firm. Originality/value – A systems approach to assessing the impact of a combination of RFID technology and information sharing on operations programs is developed and tested. The results verify the importance of implementing RFID technology within an information sharing environment and support the proposition that RFID technology enhances both JIT and TQM capabilities.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), 52.4% of the world population had received at least one dose of a vaccine at17 November 2021, but little is known about the non-pharmaceutical aspect of vaccination. Here we empirically examine the impact of vaccination on human behaviors and COVID-19 transmission via structural equation modeling. The results suggest that, from a non-pharmaceutical perspective, the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines is related to human behaviors, in this case, mobility; vaccination slows the spread of COVID-19 in the regions where vaccination is negatively related to mobility, but such an effect is not observed in the regions where vaccination and mobility have positive correlations. This article highlights the significance of mobility in realizing the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines; even with large-scale vaccination, non-pharmaceutical interventions, such as social distancing, are still required to contain the transmission of COVID-19.


Provided that green supply chain management (GSCM) practices that integrate ecological thinking have been emphasized by increasing works of research, the impacts that may be posed by these practices on the environmental sustainability of manufacturing companies are not unexpected. Nevertheless, GSCM is capable of improving the performance of manufacturing firms in various aspects. Pertaining to this, this research aims to explore the application of GSCM practices and the effects they pose on organizational performance. To be specific, in this study, the results of the application of a set of internal and external GSCM practices on various aspects of organizational performance were investigated. Furthermore, according to the data collected, which were from 121 food, pharmaceuticals survey questionnaires, and chemical manufacturing companies in Palestine, statistical analyses were conducted. Moreover, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was utilized for the assessment of the hypotheses associated with the application of the internal and external GSCM practices and organizational performance. However, the findings of this research will be important specifically for the manufacturing organizations which aim for the enhancement of their organizational performance.

Abstract The agricultural sector is one of the opportunities for improving the economy of local communities. Opportunities will be a challenge for agro-tourism managers in their development. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of service quality and importance on visitor satisfaction and loyalty. The research method used is a survey method and research sampling using incidental sampling technique to 127 tourists who come to visit. Furthermore, the data is processed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the support of Amos SPSS Version 24. The results show that good service performance can significantly increase visitor satisfaction by 44%. However, it is inversely proportional to the effect of service performance on consumer loyalty directly. Improved service performance can lower visitor loyalty rates by 48%. In addition, increased satisfaction can also have a significant effect on visitor loyalty by 111%. In contrast to service performance and satisfaction, interests do not have a significant effect on visitor satisfaction or loyalty. So that the presence or absence of complete facilities at the research location does not guarantee that visitors will feel significant satisfaction and loyalty.

Purpose Human genomic research (HGR) demands very large pools of data to generate meaningful inference. Yet, the sharing of one’s genetic data for research is a voluntary act. The collection of data sufficient to fuel rapid advancement is contingent on individuals’ willingness to share. Privacy risks associated with sharing this unique and intensely personal data are significant. Genetic data are an unambiguous identifier. Public linkage of donor to their genetic data could reveal predisposition to diseases, behaviors, paternity, heredity, intelligence, etc. The purpose of this paper is to understand individuals’ willingness to volunteer their private information in this high-risk/high-reward context. Design/methodology/approach The authors collect survey data from 273 respondents and use structural equation modeling techniques to analyze responses. Findings The authors find statistical support for our theorization. They find that while heightened awareness of the benefits and risks of sharing correlates with increased privacy concerns, the net impact is an increase in intention to share. Social implications The findings suggest that prescriptive awareness might be an effective tool with which policy-makers can gain the sufficient voluntary participation from individuals necessary to drive large-scale medical research. Originality/value This study contributes a theoretically and empirically informed model which demonstrates the impact of awareness and privacy concern on individuals’ willingness to share their genetic data for large-scale HGR. It helps inform a rising class of data sufficiency problems related to large-scale medical research.
