In this paper, we present research on thermal transition temperature determination in poly (3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT), [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC60BM), and their blends, which are materials that are conventionally used in organic optoelectronics. Here, for the first time the results of electrical resistance measurements are explored to detect thermal transitions temperatures, such as glass transition Tg and cold crystallization Tcc of the film. To confirm these results, the variable-temperature spectroscopic ellipsometry studies of the same samples were performed. The thermal transitions temperatures obtained with electrical measurements are well suited to phase diagram, constructed on the basis of ellipsometry in our previous work. The data presented here prove that electrical resistance measurements alone are sufficient for qualitative thermal analysis, which lead to the identification of characteristic temperatures in P3HT:PC60BM films. Based on the carried studies, it can be expected that the determination of thermal transition temperatures by means of electrical resistance measurements will also apply to other semi-conducting polymer films.

ABSTRACTThe effect of heat treatments on the microstrueture, composition and electrical properties of the Al/TiW/ Polycrystal1ine Si system was studied systematically for the first time. It was found that Al and Si diffuse through the grain boundaries of the TiW layer at 400°C. Subsequently, Si accumulates at the Al/TiW interface while Al diffuses into the po1ycrystal1ine Si. TiSi, TiSi2, Al3Ti, and WAl10 are formed only at the Al/TiW interface as a result of the heat-treatments for 30min at temperatures between 450 and 500°C. The sheet resistance, measured on the surface of the Al film, is constant up to 350°C and then increases with the heat treatment temperature at all times. The I–V curves are characteristic to Schottky diodes. The general dependece of the current on the applied voltage remains the same but the electrical resistance changes as a result of the heat-treatments. At the long annealing time(30min), the electrical resistance decreases with the heat-treatment temperature. However, at the short annealing times(10–60sec), it first incrsases(between 400 and 450°C) and then decreases (between 450 and 500°C). The results of the electrical measurements are correlated to the microstructural and compositional changes occured due to the heat treatments.

Electrical resistance in young balsam fir (Abiesbalsamea (L.) Mill.) trees was inversely (nonlinear) correlated with specific volume increment, total foliar biomass, and the combined weight of the current and 1-year-old foliage. These relationships were stronger before budbreak than after. No relationship existed between concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, and Mg in the bark and wood collected around time of budbreak, and electrical resistance.

Eight azukisapogenol triterpene glycosides, including five new compounds, oxychiliotriterpenosides A–E (1–5), two new methyl glucuronide derivatives that proved to be artifacts, oxychiliotriterpenoside E-glucuronic acid methyl ester (6) and myrioside B-glucuronic acid methyl ester (7), and a known one, myrioside B (8), was isolated from the aerial part of Oxytropis chiliophylla Royle. Their structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analyses and chemical methods. Triterpene glycosides were first obtained from O. chiliophylla, and those containing a galactose unit (1, 2, 5 and 6) and diglucosidic or triglucosidic linkage at C-29 (1–4), were reported from Oxytropis species for the first time, which might be recognized as a chemotaxonomic feature of O. chiliophylla. All isolated compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities against NO production using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cells, but no compounds showed potent inhibition on NO production.

For the first time in the rhinological practice the methods of evaluation of the functional state of tissues of nasal cavity that were based on registration of their electrical features-electrical resistance (impedance) and potencial were worked out. In the comparative aspect there were researched the active and the passive electrical features of the tissues of nasal cavity which healthy people and those whose disease is acute sinusitis, have. For the first time the dynamic of electrical features was studied and the most informative electrical rates for the initial diagnostic of acute sinusitis and for evaluation of the effectiveness of appointed treatment were revealed. As a result of researches a new way of noninvasive diagnostic of inflammatory diseases of paranasal sinus was worked out, approved and inserted in practice. (Patent № 2157094, 10.10.2000 «The way of diagnostic of inflammatory diseases of paranasal sinus»). The suggested way is simple, reliable; it has high credibility value of revealing the pathologies of paranasal sinus and evaluation of its dynamic. This method may be recommended for the wide usage in hospitals and clinics for diagnostic of acute sinusitis and evaluation of effectiveness of treatment.

AbstractAn indole alkaloid, 2-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)-2-oxo-acetic acid (1) isolated for the first time from nature, in addition to the nine known compounds 5-hydroxy-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (2), alocasin B (3), hyrtiosin B (4), α-monopalmitin (5), 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(2S, 3R, 4E, 8Z)-2-[(2(R)-hydroctadecanoyl) amido]-4,8-octadecadiene-1,3-diol (6), 3-epi-betulinic acid (7), 3-epi-ursolic acid (8),β-sitosterol (9) andβ-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside (10) were isolated from the rhizomes ofAlocasia macrorrhiza(Araceae). Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data. Of these compounds,6exhibited the strongest cytotoxicity against the four tested human cancer cell lines (IC50of about 10 µM against Hep-2 larynx cancer cells).

Metastable β titanium alloy Ti-15Mo was investigated in this study. In-situ electrical resistance and thermal expansion measurements conducted on solution treated material revealed influence of ongoing phase transitions on measured properties. The monotonicity of the dependence of electrical resistance on temperature changes at 225, 365 and 560 °C The thermal expansion deviates from linearity between 305 and 580 °C.

The measurement of skin electrical resistance (SER) has drawn a great deal of attention for the rapid screening of transdermal penetration enhancers (PEs). However, the mechanisms underlying the SER measurement are still unclear. This study was to investigate the effects and mechanisms of seven oxygen-containing terpenes on the SER kinetics. Stratum corneum (SC) lipids were proved to play a key role in SER measurement. Then, the factors affecting the SER measurement were optimized. By the determination of SER kinetics, cyclic terpenes (1,8-cineole, terpinen-4-ol, menthol and α-terpineol) were demonstrated to possess higher enhancement ratio (ER) values compared with linear terpenes (linalool, geraniol and citral). For the first time, the linear correlation was found between ER of terpenes and the interaction energy of terpene–ceramide complexes revealed by molecular simulation. The attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) analysis revealed that the effect of cyclic terpenes on SC lipid arrangement was obviously stronger than that of linear terpenes. In addition, by evaluating HaCaT skin cell viability, little difference was found between the toxicities of cyclic and linear terpenes. In conclusion, measurement of SER could be a feasible approach for the efficient evaluation of the PEs that mainly act on SC lipids.
