In this work, the electromechanical system of the 8000-series of Athens trolleybuses, based on data provided by OSY S.A., is analyzed. Those data were used to develop a valid model in order to estimate the total energy consumption of the vehicle under any possible operating conditions. In addition, an effort is made to estimate the energy saving potential if the wasted energy—in the form of heat—during braking or downhill courses is recovered (regenerative braking) and retrofitted during normal operation. This process requires the installation of appropriate electrical apparatus to recover and temporarily store this energy amount. Moreover, due to the fact that the main engine of the system is an asynchronous electric machine, its driving scheme is also of interest. This study assumes the current driving scheme, that is the direct vector control (DVC), and proposes an alternative control method, the direct torque control (DTC). Energy consumption/saving calculations highlight the effectiveness of incorporating regenerative braking infrastructure in trolleybuses transportation systems. Finally, a sustainable hybrid energy storage unit that supports regenerative braking is proposed.

This paper presents improved Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) of the Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Three-Phase Induction Motor (IM) for high performance and torque control industrial drive applications. The performance of the IM using PI Controllers and general fuzzy controllers are meager level under load disturbances and transient conditions. The FLC is extended to have a less computational burden which makes it suitable for real time implementation particularly at constant speed and torque disturbance operating conditions. Hybrid control has advantage of integrating a superiority of two or more control techniques for better control performances. A fuzzy controller offers better speed responses for startup and large speed errors. If the nature of the load torque is varied, the steady state speed error of DTC based IM drive with fuzzy logic controller becomes significant. To improve the performance of the system, a new control method, Hybrid fuzzy PI control is proposed. The effectiveness of proposed method is verified by simulation based on MATLAB. The proposed Hybrid fuzzy controller has adaptive control over load toque variation and can maintain constant speed.

Target. To analyze the features of energy consumption of the building of the educational building No. 17 of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" in the conditions of quarantine restrictions in the implementation of energy-saving heating schemes.Methodology. Dynamic energetic modeling of a university academic building created in the DesignBuilder software environment under normal and quarantine modes.Results. Recommendations for the implementation of energy-saving modes of heating the building of the academic building of the university during the period of distance learning when introducing quarantine restrictions in Ukraine.Scientific novelty. An integrated approach has been developed to an in-depth analysis of energy consumption under conditions of partial use of the premises of educational buildings during the quarantine period. It is substantiated that the use of premises with partial operation of the building requires additional unit costs for heating needs.Practical significance. Simulation dynamic modeling of the building's energy consumption for heating for various modes of operation and employment / use of premises of educational buildings during the quarantine period in Ukraine, the results of the study will allow to obtain a set of energy characteristics of the building as a whole and its individual rooms / zones for hourly changes in internal operating conditions and external climatic conditions. The use of the proposed scheme of operation of the heating system of the building of the educational building allows to reduce energy consumption during the heating period by 8,5% compared to energy consumption during normal operation, which is economically feasible in conditions of partial occupancy of the building during quarantine restrictions (during lockdown) and an unpredictable macroeconomic situation on the energy market, causing a trend towards an increase in prices for basic energy resources.

The Direct Torque Controlled (DTC) induction motor (IM) drives over the years have been the work force of industries. The popularity of this motor drive is due to the low cost and low maintenance of induction motor coupled with the fast dynamic response and simple control structure of direct torque control method. The robust performance of the DTC induction motor drive depends on the proper tuning of its speed controller. The proposed paper make use of the stochastic optimization technique namely the popular Harmony Search Algorithm and is compared with the parameter free Jaya Algorithm for tuning the gains of the speed proportional integral controller. Simulation studies in MATLAB/Simulink shows the success of the Jaya Optimization for improving the performance of DTC drive with respect to speed and torque peak over shoot and steady state error under different drive operating conditions.

In order to deeply understand the characteristics of the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control method, its mathematical models were established in the two-phase stationary coordinate system, the two-phase synchronous rotating coordinate system, and x-y stator synchronous rotating coordinate system. The implementation process of direct torque control method in varied stator winding connection was analyzed in detail. In order to improve the speed and torque performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, the direct torque control block diagram and the space voltage vector selection table were given. Finally, the summary and outlook of reducing torque ripple in the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control methods.

With the development of AC (alternating current )technique, larger power PMSM ( permanent m- agnet synchronous motor ) has been applied in the marine electric propulsion systems. In this paper the imple- mentation of the DTC (direct torque control) systems for a variable-speed 4088kW PMSM in ship electric propulsion systems has been studied. A novel control method using SVPWM (space vector pulse width mo- dulation) was proposed and a SVPWM module was designed. Then a DTC – SVPWM simulation model of PMSM with the load of propeller was found. The simulation results shows that the variable frequency speed regulation system have good response performance in the process of the motor start or speedup and through comparing the simulation results with the experiment data of the PMSM, the validity of the model is verified.

Abstract Compressors are widely used to transport gas offshore and onshore. Oil rigs and gas processing plants have several compressors operating either alone, in parallel or in trains. Hence, compressors must be controlled optimally to insure a high rate of production, and efficient power consumption. The aim of this paper is to provide a control algorithm to optimize the compressors operation in parallel in process industries, to minimize energy consumption in variable operating conditions. A dynamic control-oriented model of the compression system has been developed. The optimization algorithm is tested on an experimental prototype having two compressors connected in parallel. The developed optimization algorithm resulted in a better performance and a reduction of the total energy consumption compared to an equal load sharing scheme.
