An enormous volume of electronic waste (e-waste) is currently being generated in Vietnam, threatening to render this country as an e-waste dumping region. Although the residents play an indispensable role in the e-waste management system, there is presently no or very limited studies available which involve public perceptions on the e-waste recycling in Vietnam. In this study, based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), the structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to examine the key factors influencing e-waste recycling behavioral intention of residents in Danang city, Vietnam. Data analyzed from 520 questionnaires revealed that environmental awareness and attitude toward recycling, social pressure, laws and regulations, cost of recycling, and inconvenience of recycling significantly directly affected residents’ behavioral intention, with laws and regulations being the strongest construct significantly to predict individuals’ intention. Of the five above-listed constructs, only inconvenience of recycling had a negative impact on residents’ recycling behavioral intention. Moreover, past experience showed the statistically significant negative effect on the inconvenience of recycling while it had no significant impact on behavioral intention. The influences of demographic variables on recycling behavioral intention were also discussed in this paper. The findings from this research may help policy-makers have a better understanding of residents’ e-waste recycling intention. That is very useful in paving the way for a successful e-waste recycling and management system not only in Vietnam, but also in other countries which are suffering from the same problems of e-waste.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to reveal the impact of the e-tailers’ product variety decisions on their logistics service quality (LSQ) in B2C e-marketplaces. Furthermore, it investigates the mediation of transaction intensity and the moderation of the perceived technical quality in this relationship.Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected from one of Turkey’s biggest e-marketplace firms, N11.com. Consumer evaluations and the e-tailers’ product offers were used to operationalize research variables. Structural equation modeling was used to test the research hypotheses.FindingsProduct variety increases the sales of e-tailers but negatively affects their LSQ. This negative effect does not stem from the operational complexity resulting from increased sales; on the contrary, transaction intensity actually suppresses the negative effect of product variety on LSQ. This study additionally reveals that the perceived technical quality weakens the negative impact of product variety on LSQ.Originality/valueThe intense competition in e-marketplaces makes LSQ a key competitive factor, highlighting the importance of revealing its determinants. Although the negative effect of product variety on operational performance has been revealed in manufacturing and physical retailing environments, it has been under-investigated in online retailing. Drawing on a knowledge-based view, this study reveals how product variety decreases LSQ in the online context despite its unique features (i.e. temporal and spatial separation). Moreover, by demonstrating that the delivered product’s instrumental performance affects the perceived LSQ, it reveals that technical quality and functional quality are not disjoint components in online purchases.

PurposeThis study analyzes the desires and behavioral intentions of tourists within the scope of perception of COVID-19 and nonpharmaceutical intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design/methodology/approachThe population of the research consists of people on a touristic trip in Turkey. Because of the pandemic, questionnaire data was collected online between 25 April and 15 May 2020. The research was carried out with 712 questionnaire forms. The data obtained were analyzed by structural equation modeling in the SM-PLS statistics program.FindingsPerception of COVID-19 significantly and positively affects NPI and negatively and significantly affects desire. Perception of COVID-19 and NPI do not have a significant positive/negative effect on behavioral intention. Finally, desire has a significantly positive effect on behavioral intention.Research limitations/implicationsSince the research has limitations in terms of time, cost, accessibility and control difficulties, the entire population could not be reached. The study was carried out with only 712 tourists traveling in Turkey.Practical implicationsThe obtained results will impact, particularly the decisions taken in Turkey's tourism sector. Moreover, if tourism companies know the decisions of the consumers during the pandemic process, they can use the appropriate marketing techniques.Social implicationsThe result may give an idea about the decision-making process of the consumers on traveling during the pandemic. In this way, psychologically different research can be developed.Originality/valueThere has not been any study made in Turkey that investigated the context of the current research model. Therefore, this research is original.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors influencing customer adoption toward takaful products in Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach The study used five attributes of diffusion innovation theory (DOI), namely, relative advantage, compatibility, trialability, observability and complexity. Furthermore, the authors introduced two additional constructs, namely, consumer awareness and religiosity to analyze the adoption behavior of customers. A total of 365 questionnaires were distributed among the participants of the study. The survey was conducted in the Karachi city where the respondents were the existing and potential users of takaful products. The theoretical model of DOI theory was tested using structural equation modeling. Findings The findings report that complexity has a negative impact on the adoption of takaful, whereas relative advantage, compatibility, trialability, observability, religiosity and consumer awareness shows a positive and significant influence. Originality/value It is a noteworthy point that past literature is quite limited to investigate the determinants of consumer intentions to adopt takaful products. Based on this argument, the authors build the study to provide a scope and coverage in the field of Islamic insurance. The authors also expect that the research will encourage and provide a venue for forthcoming studies to help policy makers and academicians in this emerging business.

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Debt To Equity Ratio (DPR) dan Sales Growth (SG) terhadap Return On Asset (ROA) serta dampaknya pada Dividen Pay Ratio (DPR). Jenis penelitian eksplanatori. Populasi penelitian 131 perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Teknik Pengambilan sampel menggunakan puposive sampling dengan kriteria sampel adalah yang membagikan dividen berturut-turut selama observasi dan memiliki return on asset  positif. Unit analisis laporan keuangan dan metode analisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Hasil menunjukkan DER bepengaruh negatif terhadap ROA, SG berpengaruh positif terhadap ROA dan  DER bepengaruh negatif terhadap ROA berdampak negatif DPR serta SG berpengaruh positif terhadap ROA dampak positif pada DPR.   This study aims to determine the effect of Debt To Equity Ratio (DPR) and Sales Growth (SG) on Return On Assets (ROA) and their impact on Dividend Pay Ratio (DPR). Type of explanatory research. The research population is 131 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Sampling technique using puposive sampling with sample criteria is that distributes successive dividends during observation and has a positive return on assets. The unit of analysis of financial statements and analytical methods uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that DER has a negative effect on ROA, SG has a positive effect on ROA and DER has a negative effect on ROA, which has a negative impact on the DPR and SG has a positive effect on ROA, a positive impact on the DPR.

This research is new in its attempt to take future time orientation, morningness orientation, and prospective memory as measures of mental prospection, and to examine a three-factor model that assumes working memory, mental prospection, and cognitive insight are independent but related higher-order cognitive constructs by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The three-factor model produced a good fit to the data. An alternative one-factor model was tested and rejected. The results suggest that working memory and cognitive insight are distinguishable, related constructs, and that both are distinct from, but negatively associated with, mental prospection. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) showed that working memory had a strong positive effect on cognitive insight and a moderate negative effect on mental prospection.

Governments have designated national parks to protect the natural environment against ecosystem destruction and improve individuals’ emotional and recreational life. National parks enhance environment-friendly awareness by conducting ecotourism activities and individuals with environment-friendly awareness are inclined to continue to visit national parks as ecotourism destinations. The New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) is a widely used measure of environmental concern, suitable for measuring the environment-friendly attitude and revisit intention of visitors of national parks. Therefore, the study carried out structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate the relationship between the NEP, national park conservation consciousness and environment-friendly behavioral intention. Based on the results, an implication is presented to induce national parks to cultivate individual environment-friendly awareness and for visitors to pursue sustainable, environment-friendly tourism behavior. The findings indicate that national parks are to expand educational programs and facilities for eco-tourists visiting national parks to maintain a balanced relationship between themselves and nature and have a strong environmental awareness to preserve the natural environment.

This study investigated the relationship among tourists’ perceived sustainability, aesthetic experience, and behavioral intention toward reused heritage buildings by employing stimulus–organism–response theory. There were 354 valid questionnaires collected from the Sputnik Lab in Tainan, Taiwan. A positive correlation was found between tourists’ perception of sustainability and aesthetic experience. When tourists perceived higher aesthetic experience, they also had stronger behavioral intention. Structural equation modeling analysis verified that the aesthetic experience of tourists had mediating effects between perceived sustainability and behavioral intention in the reused heritage space. The reuse of space should be attached significantly to the aesthetic display of space and service so as to promote such scenic spots and increase tourists’ intention to revisit through word of mouth.

The present study investigates the determinants of intention to use carsharing services by an integrated model of psychological predictors of travel behavior. The model proposed is tested by multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) in structural equation modeling (SEM) with further discussion about analysis of invariance and its relevance for comparisons between groups. The sample was classified into four groups: Italian users, Italian non-users, Swedish users, and Swedish non-users of carsharing. The users were respondents who have used or are currently using carsharing, while non-users reported never using the carsharing services. The analysis of data from 6072 respondents revealed that control was the main predictor of intention to use carsharing; driving habits had stronger negative effects for users of carsharing than for non-users; subjective norms positively predicted the intention to use carsharing among all groups; trust was a predictor of intention only for the Italian groups; and climate morality had a small negative effect on the Swedish groups only. The outcomes of this investigation will increase the knowledge about the use of carsharing and help to identify the behavioral and psychological factors that primarily influence people’s intention to use it.

Production deviance is 1 of 5 dimensions of counterproductive work behaviors (CWB). Based on data collected from 362 employees of Chinese enterprises, I examined the predictive effect of Confucian values on production deviance and the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between Confucian values and production deviance using structural equation modeling. I analyzed 3 factors of production deviance: work sabotage, slackness, and withdrawal. Confucian values were found to have a significant negative impact on these factors. Furthermore, job satisfaction was found to partially mediate the relationship between Confucian values slackness and withdrawal, but not work sabotage.

Human capital is a critical component of any organization's competitiveness. The absence of a high-capacity employee can have a negative impact on operational performance. The researcher examined the significance of organizational commitment as a mediator between work-family interference and turnover intention in the Royal Malaysian Navy. Data were collected from 400 navy personnel at the Lumut Naval Base in Perak, Malaysia, using structured questionnaires. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. Organizational commitment serves as a mediator between work-family interference and turnover intention in the Royal Malaysian Navy. According to the findings of this study, organizational commitment mediated the relationship between work-family interference and turnover intention. Additionally, work-family interference is a significant predictor of intention to leave the RMN.
