Runway excursions are the main risk for runway safety: operational protection areas mitigate the effects of events classified as veer-off, overrun, and undershoot. This paper presents a methodology for the quantitative risk assessment of runway veer-off in an international airport whose name will not be revealed for privacy reasons. The proposed methodology is based on similar principles adopted in other aviation risk analyses. The Real Level of Safety (RLS) related to the veer-off accident was calculated through the implementation of a retrospective analysis that permits to define a frequency model, a location model and a consequence model. Instead, Target Level of Safety (TLS) was defined through the risk matrix and acceptability criteria present in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Safety Management Manual. Finally, the risk of veer-off accidents in the airport under evaluation was determined by using primary data provided by the airport management body. Risk values were calculated in more than 1300 points around the runway and they were used to assess the current level of safety. The authors present a risk map that allows identifying the areas in the strip with the highest risk of a veer-off accident. The obtained results demonstrate that the developed methodology represents a useful tool to define TLS and to assess whether infrastructural and operational modification need to obtain the required level of safety.

Safety is a major factor every flight. National aviation safety oversight is one of the functions that are the responsibility of coaching the Derectorate General of Civil Aviation to encure compliance with the standards, procedures and regulations, in order to see the fulfillment of the terms and condition in general aviation safety standards and safe operation of airports in particular that carried out by the organizers airports and other stakeholders. The method of analisys used to determine the operational supervision airport is gap analysis between the observation and collection of primary data from airport managers with operational safety performance indicator airport contained in KM, 24 2009 on Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 139 on the airport (aerodrome) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The analysis showed that the safety oversight of the airport operation in airport Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang in the surveillance system consists of four systems which are airport management system, air side system control, the airport environment systems, inspection systems and reporting systems and safety management system has been appropriate and meets CASR 139.Pengawasan keselamatan penerbangan nasional merupakan salah satu fungsi pembinaan yang menjadi tanggung jawab Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Udara memastikan kesesuaian standar, prosedur dan peraturan terkait, guna melihat pemenuhan peraturan dan ketentuan standar dan keselamatan penerbangan pada umumnya dan keselamatan operasi bandar udara pada khususnya yang dilaksanakan oleh penyelenggara bandar udara dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya. Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan pengawasan operasional bandar udara adalah metode analisis kesenjangan (gap analysis)antara hasil observasi dan pengumpulan data primer dari pengelola bandar udara dengan performance indicator keselamatan operasional bandar udara yang terdapat dalam KM. 24 Tahun 2001 tentang Peraturan Keselamatan Penerbangan Sipil Bagian 139 (Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 139) tentang Bandar Udara (Aerodrome). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pengawasan keselamatan operasi Bandar udara di Bandar udara Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang dalam sistem pengawasan terdiri dari 4 sistem yaitu sistem manajemen bandar udara, sistem control sisi udara, sistem lingkungan bandar udara, sistem pemeriksaan dan sistem pelaporan dan sistem Manajemen keselamatan sudah sesuai dan sudah memenuhi referensi CASR 139.

Abstract In recent decades, many accidents involving pressure vessels and piping components (PVP) have occurred in North America. Several studies have been conducted to understand their causes and find suitable solutions to reduce their frequency. Most of the researches have focused on the technical causes of these accidents and the subsequent implementation of safety management strategies. These researches highlight that the main technical causes are leak and rupture. From this standpoint, it is important to deepen the study of these causes to better understand the risk of accident in PVP applications. In Alberta alone, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) showed that more than 15 root causes initiated leak and rupture failures in PVP since 1990. This paper presents an analysis of the frequency of accidents, their severity, their causes, and the risk associated in the Alberta petrochemical industry from 2008 to 2017. This study proposes an exponential decay function to estimate the frequency of accidents involving PVP and identifies the most important causes based on a severity analysis. The results based on the frequency model show that there is a good agreement between the predicted and observed accidents frequency from 2008 to 2017. The severity analysis results shows that the main factors contributing to accidents are corrosion, construction deficiency, and overpressure. Finally, the proposed model of frequency and severity of observed and predicted PVP failures, is a useful tool for risk assessment and prevention program implementation.

Night tourism development comes up as an innovative strategy for tourism development in this current intense competition. There are four main elements in night tourism, namely economic, social, environmental, and night atmosphere. Berastagi is the most popular tourist destination in Karo Regency, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, which already have night tourism destination but unfortunately undeveloped yet. Night tourism development in Berastagi must be with the local wisdom approach to maximize its benefit. Karonese as the majority ethnic of the local community in this area potential to be developed on its night tourism. This paper only analyzes the environmental and night atmosphere aspects in Berastagi’s night tourism, which based on local wisdom. Qualitative primary data from field observation and depth interview results have been analyzed by using the descriptive method. The study shows that involving local wisdom in developing the environment and night atmosphere can give the typical identity for the night tourism in Berastagi.Night Tourism

Employees and employers are facing issues in work life balance. It has become a difficult domain now, because the work needs have increased due to an increase in work pressure and complexities in handling the technology. As there are drastic changes in the rules and regulations in the work scenario of the aviation industry, it makes work life balance of employees difficult and set more hurdles. Hence there are many distractions and imbalances in the life of women employees in the aviation industry working across all levels. This work pressure is creating high level of hurdles in maintaining a harmonious job and family life, especially for female aviation employees. Data is collected from 50 female crew members working at Cochin International Airport. The objective of this study is to analyze the work life balance of working females of Cochin International Airport and its influence on their personal and specialized lives. The result of the study shows that the management should frame certain policies which will help employees to have the balance among their personal and expert lives.

The present study is focusing on the professional stress on organisation among the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of Indian Military Intelligence. 384 samples of Military Intelligence personnel will be taken for this study. Sources of data is Primary data include a structured questionnaire. Data was collected through structured questionnaire and measure through Likert’s scale, using KMO measure of sampling adequacy, Cronbach’s alpha for checking internal consistency, Bartlett sphericity test for testing the null hypothesis and various factor analysis including Eigenvalues, Extract square Sum loading, variance percent and Accumulation percent values relative comparison and Correlation matrix will be used as tools to arrive at desired results and statistical interpretations. The hypotheses put for test and the resultant values at 0.01 and 0.05 (for different factors) clearly indicated that there is an existence of association between different level of cadres and professional stress among personnel of Indian Military Intelligence. The authority who can formulate the rules and regulations and binding them on the lower cadres and professions to accept and adopt.

The article considers the role of integration processes of the quality management system in the field of civil aviation. The process of effective implementation of IMS in the corporate environment is taken into consideration and substantiated. The analysis of ICAO-9859 Document is carried out and the need for the implementation of an integrated corporate management system in organizations operating in civil aviation is substantiated. The advantages of using integrated systems are substantiated. General and specific principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS) are highlighted. The created system for the effective implementation of the IMS is considered using a specific example of applying the requirements of the “Safety Management Manual”.
