Industrial estates (IEs) are important for economic growth, but they also negatively impact the living environment of local communities. To foster community acceptance, IEs and companies often implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. However, very few studies have explored the preferences of local communities. Therefore, the first objective of this research was to identify the CSR dimensions and activities preferred by local communities surrounding Amata City Industrial Estate in Chonburi, Thailand, while the second objective was to categorize residents based on their CSR preferences using K-means clustering. Data were collected from 309 residents and assessed using a choice-based conjoint analysis, with the two most preferred CSR dimensions identified as economy and environment. The results confirmed heterogeneity within a community. Seven segments were identified as wellness enthusiasts, sustainable developers, knowledge supporters, balanced conservators, nature lovers, utilitarian developers and economic persons. The findings should be beneficial for IE management in Thailand and could be used by companies and local governments to initiate citizen-centric CSR activities.

Basic tenets such as national and regional corporate social responsibility, community development agreement, impact and benefit agreements, social and labor plan, and social license were not implemented properly to balance the mutual benefit between the company and the local community. The researcher concluded that Lega Dambi large-scale gold mining company disregarded the role of the local community during commencement time albeit it had a strong relationship with the central government. Consequently, the company was terminated because of a bad relationship it had with the local community. It is recommended that national and regional corporate social responsibility that shows the company’s specific joint administration of the central and Oromia region governments should be designed and implemented fully. It is also recommended that discussions should be held with local communities and arrived at a consensus concerning the reopening of the company.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is now considered to be one of the most important activities for companies as it greatly affects both companies and local communities. This study analyzes the effects of corporate social responsibility activities on the life recovery of employees. A questionnaire survey on the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster in Iwaki City (Fukushima, Japan) was conducted. Iwaki City was among the areas most severely affected by the disaster. The effect of CSR activities on the life recovery of employees was analyzed by structural equation modeling. Life recovery largely depended on health and human relationships. CSR activities related to these two factors, such as work–life balance and local community activities, increased the life recovery of employees. Companies have large resources for improving local community resilience and local communities can recover from a disaster in a timely and effective manner when companies provide appropriate assistance. This study reveals how companies can contribute to the recovery of local communities through their CSR activities.

The social responsibility of corporate mining has been challenged by a significant socio-political risk from local communities. These issues reduce shareholder value by increasing costs and decreasing the market perception of corporate social responsibility. Community engagement is the process of understanding the behavior and interests of a group of targeted mining communities through surveys and data analysis, with the purpose of incorporating mining community acceptance into the mining sustainability. While mining organizations have discussed community engagement to varying degrees, there are three main shortcomings in current studies, as concluded in the authors’ previous research. This paper presents a framework to apply discrete choice theory to improve mining community engagement and corporate mining social responsibility. In addition, this paper establishes the main technical challenges to implement the developed framework, and presents methods to overcome the challenges for future research with a case study. The contribution of this research will transform mine sustainability in a fundamental way by facilitating the incorporation of effective community engagement. This will lead to more sustainable mines that local communities support.

The paper uses a framework for analyzing stakeholders based on their power, legitimacy, and urgency of their claims. The case will also demonstrate the complex institutional set-up in emerging markets and due to which sometimes it becomes difficult for organizations to implement such exploration projects to fulfill their social and environmental commitments. However, in the context of good local governance, a task of achieving the public welfare is not only carried out by local governments, but also supported by two other pillars in good governance, the business community and civil society at the local level. Thus, in terms of good corporate governance, it is known as corporate social responsibility (CSR), a form of corporate responsibility to the local community. The experience of the East Kutai Regency - East Kalimantan is an inspiration for other regions to initiate the formation of multi-stakeholder corporate social responsibility (CSRMSH). Observations were made in time horizon or cross-sectional. Data were tested using structural equation modeling. The results concluded that the company has not been optimally involved in corporate social responsibility program. This can be seen from the lack of corporate contribution related to the role of company to engage directly on corporate social responsibility that can be felt and utilized by surrounding community to develop resources around it. The research expects for manufacturing industries in industrial estates to increase active involvement in corporate social responsibility programs as they positively impact business development in the future.

The article implements the purpose of reviewing and systematizing and outlining the problems of control functions of the territorial community of Kyiv, which can be implemented by the local government - Kyiv City Council in cooperation with the Kyiv City State Administration. It is noted that the problems of legal relations in the field of land resources become especially large if they are implemented in the capital of Ukraine. The point of intersection of private financial resources, local and state public interests and related investments - the capital is also a place of realization of the rights of the territorial community to a comfortable and healthy living environment, satisfaction of their property, cultural and educational interests. It is obvious that the special status of the capital of Ukraine - the hero city of Kyiv requires special, more complex mechanisms of control in the field of land relations by the territorial community, in order to rationally and legally overcome potential conflicts between the interests of the community and individual stakeholders as private. , and the public interest, which is to obtain and exercise the right of ownership and use of land. It is established that the powers of local governments in the field of regulation of land relations are exercised on the basis of a significant array of bylaws of the Kyiv City Council. It is stated that a significant number of conflict issues related to illegal construction, preservation of unique forests within the city require appropriate legislation that would make the powers of the Kyiv City Council to control the acquisition and use of land within the city really effective and wider, than in other local governments to balance the interests of state power and the associated critical pressure of capital on land use in the city, and the interests of the local community.

The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been widely spread to developing countries. Most scholars argue that the CSR will give economic benefit to the local communities surrounding the company. Indonesia and Australia have adopted the concept of CSR into some legislation and regulations. When the laws of CSR were implemented in the field of tourism, some companies thought that they do not have any legal obligation to implement it. In practice, local communities have used CSR to demand the tourism industries to provide any social, cultural and economic facilities. This article is aimed at providing an analysis regarding the legal framework of Indonesian and Australian laws and regulations concerning CSR, particularly in Tourism Sector. In addition, it is intended to analyze how the implementation of CSR in tourism may strengthen the local communities. It is a normative legal research that primarily scrutinizes written official law and regulations as well as relevant court decisions regarding the issue of CSR, company, and tourism. It can be concluded that both Indonesia and Australia have regulated the concept of CSR very well as stipulated in official law and regulations. Regarding the implementation, by revolving within the scope of sustainable development concept as well as a gradual increase of tourism industries participation in CSR, the well-being of the local community will surely be improved.
