The COVID-19 pandemic has affected human life in every possible way and, alongside this, the need has been felt that office buildings and workplaces must have protective and preventive layers against COVID-19 transmission so that a smooth transition from ‘work from home’ to ‘work from office’ is possible. However, a comprehensive understanding of how the protective environment can be built around office buildings and workspaces, based on the year-long experience of living with COVID-19, is largely absent. The present study reviews international agency regulation, country regulation, updated journal articles, etc., to critically understand lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and evaluate the expected changes in sustainability requirements of office buildings and workplaces. The built environment, control environment, and regulatory environment around office buildings and workplaces have been put under test on safety grounds during the pandemic. Workers switched over to safely work from home. Our findings bring out the changes required to be affected in the three broad environmental dimensions to limit their vulnerability status experienced during the pandemic. Office building designs should be fundamentally oriented to provide certain safety protective measures to the workers, such as touch-free technologies, open working layouts, and workplace flexibilities to diminish the probability of getting infected. Engineering and administrative control mechanisms should work in a complementary way to eliminate the risk of disease spread. Country regulation, agency regulations, and operational guidelines need to bring behavioral changes required to protect workers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has recently emerged as a prominent candidate for the Future Internet Architecture (FIA) that addresses existing issues with the host-centric communication model of the current TCP/IP-based Internet. Named Data Networking (NDN) is one of the most recent and active ICN architectures that provides a clean-slate approach for Internet communication. NDN provides intrinsic content security where security is directly provided to the content instead of communication channel. Among other security aspects, Access Control (AC) rules specify the privileges for the entities that can access the content. In TCP/IP-based AC systems, due to the client-server communication model, the servers control which client can access a particular content. In contrast, ICN-based networks use content names to drive communication and decouple the content from its original location. This phenomenon leads to the loss of control over the content, causing different challenges for the realization of efficient AC mechanisms. To date, considerable efforts have been made to develop various AC mechanisms in NDN. In this article, we provide a detailed and comprehensive survey of the AC mechanisms in NDN. We follow a holistic approach towards AC in NDN where we first summarize the ICN paradigm, describe the changes from channel-based security to content-based security, and highlight different cryptographic algorithms and security protocols in NDN. We then classify the existing AC mechanisms into two main categories: Encryption-based AC and Encryption-independent AC . Each category has different classes based on the working principle of AC (e.g., Attribute-based AC, Name-based AC, Identity-based AC). Finally, we present the lessons learned from the existing AC mechanisms and identify the challenges of NDN-based AC at large, highlighting future research directions for the community.

The relevance of the study is dictated by the introduction of digitalization in all spheres of human life, and timely protection of information and personal data of citizens in the first place. The objective of the study was the need to transform the methods and approaches of information protection during its transmission, creation and storage. Methodological arsenal of the study is presented by scientific methods of cognition of the studied phenomenon content, the structuring of its components and the system of generalization, and analysis of the causal relationship between the visualization functionality and information security of management decisions. The author analyzed the main virtualization technologies for digital business transformation and concluded that there is the need to improve the legal framework in this area. The significance of this article lies in the fact that the use of the virtualization method will increase the level of business security with minimal losses. Current GOST R 56938-2016 "Information protection when using virtualization technologies" does not fully reflect the issues of information protection in terms of its visualization, which leads to the need to improve the legal framework when using virtualization technologies for data protection. It is essential to pay special attention to cloud storage, collaboration and communication services, remote project management programs, cybersecurity solutions, and CRM systems. This is particularly relevant today during the emergence of virtual workplaces and transferring employees to remote work from home.

Grounding the transmission of knowledge by simplifying the learning process on real-world problems helps students maintain what is taught and remembers lessons learned when and when needed will have benefits and can be achieved using a variety of student-friendly teaching and learning methods that take into account interests, needs, and levels students. This article was written with the aim of studying the mechanism of knowledge transmission with the Readiness and Ability to Apply Learning Mode in the Islamic Education Perspective. The results of the discussion conclude that: 1) The concept of learning from teacher to student is popularly referred to as the 'Transmission' paradigm in learning and the process as a 'Transmission mechanism' with a different hierarchical Imperative mode; 2. In Islam, education is based on what Islamic ideals once held about educating all human beings rather than the narrow transmission of discursive knowledge. Islamic knowledge is the knowledge contained in the human body and the ways in which Muslims use it to archive, transmit, decode, and actualize religious knowledge based on a combination of imperative modes; 3) Islamic education aims to develop humans holistically, contrary to western education which focuses primarily on intellectual development. The main purpose of Islamic education is to reform and build human life and develop balanced relationships between individuals, communities and the world based on ethical concepts; 4) regardless of the frame of 'readiness to learn' or 'readiness for school', there is far more preparedness than this and far more that we can do to help everyone become more prepared to learn and overcome life.

As individuals complete their surgical residencies and fellowships, their attention must soon turn toward choosing their career path. This review aims to help those individuals in making informed choices that will properly prepare a successful future in surgical practice. Included here is a survey of some principles that will help guide individuals to proper decision making, an analysis of several different practice settings, sections on negotiations, benefits, and contracts, and a guide to making a smooth transition and developing a successful practice. Helpful tips and possible pitfalls, such as general dos and don’ts for applying and interviewing, are also presented to ensure that the trainee is well prepared and well aware. Figures show a template for curriculum vitae format, a sample resume, a sample executive summary, a contract worksheet, an onboarding timeline, and screenshots of Surgeon Specific Registry. Tables list types of surgical practice, a summary of a personnel file, benefits packages, and lessons learned in kindergarten. Abstract Data and information technology are key to every aspect of our response to the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic—including the diagnosis of patients and delivery of care, the development of predictive models of disease spread, and the management of personnel and equipment. The increasing engagement of informaticians at the forefront of these efforts has been a fundamental shift, from an academic to an operational role. However, the past history of informatics as a scientific domain and an area of applied practice provides little guidance or prologue for the incredible challenges that we are now tasked with performing. Building on our recent experiences, we present 4 critical lessons learned that have helped shape our scalable, data-driven response to COVID-19. We describe each of these lessons within the context of specific solutions and strategies we applied in addressing the challenges that we faced.

The paper, based on the authors’ direct involvement in managing actual retrofitting design, reports on seismic vulnerability assessment, design and implementation issues related to the seismic retrofit of reinforced concrete buildings through base isolation. The retrofitting interventions design of damaged buildings involves three aspects: the damage survey, the assessment of the vulnerability of building in its original structural configuration, the design of intervention needed to reduce the building vulnerability up to a conventional level, normally indicated by the seismic standards. In the first part of the paper, the experience achieved in the retrofit of reinforced concrete buildings damaged by the Italian 2009 L’Aquila earthquake is presented by referring to a typical intervention designed by the authors. Topics related to conventional vs base isolation retrofitting strategies, structure’s performance, safeguard of human life, construction efficiency and repairing cost are analyzed with reference to actual case study. Lessons learned from the Italian experience have been critically applied to the design of retrofit intervention of a building, designed according to the current Nepal set of codes and under completion at the time of the earthquake, damaged by the Gorkha 2015 earthquake. In the second part of the paper activities carried out for the definition of a specific site seismic input, for the dynamic characterization of the building and for the design of the base isolation retrofit are presented.

As gestural interfaces emerged as a new type of user interface, their use has been vastly explored by the entertainment industry to better immerse the player in games. Despite being mainly used in dance and sports games, little use was made of gestural interaction in more slow-paced genres, such as board games. In this work, we present a Kinect-based gestural interface for an online and multiplayer chess game and describe a case study with users with different playing skill levels. Comparing the mouse/keyboard interaction with the gesture-based interaction, the results of the activity were synthesized into lessons learned regarding general usability and design of game control mechanisms. These results could be applied to slow-paced board games like chess. Our findings indicate that gestural interfaces may not be suitable for competitive chess matches, yet it can be fun to play while using them in casual matches.

The Covid pandemic has changed the entire order of human life, especially in the world of education. This requires education to change and adapt quickly to continue the learning process. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia policy on Work From Home (WFH) in education, especially among elementary schools. This article was written by reviewing articles and related references about online learning policies that are considered a solution to continue the learning process when schools are closed to avoid spreading the virus. However, on the other hand, this policy has had an impact on the process of transforming knowledge both for students, teachers and parents or families. This study uses a qualitative method based on library research (libraries).

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused major changes in almost all aspects of human life, including the implementation of public services. Government policies that implement work from home (WFH) for government agencies located in areas with a certain risk of transmission, have caused public service activities to undergo changes. public services during the Covid-19 pandemic while maintaining health protocols has become a separate issue and has led to many innovations in the field of public services. One of the public services affected during the Covid-19 pandemic is marriage services at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Complaints from a number of communitiesaimed at marriage services at the KUA with suspected maladministration. This study aims to analyze marriage services at the KUA during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study was conducted using the literature study method with data sources for journal articles, government agency websites and related documents. Since the beginning of the pandemic period, the implementation of marriage services at the KUA has been regulated by three circular letters from the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, taking into account developments in the condition of the community. Online marriage registration is optimized, and is demonstrated by the high rate of registration of marriage registrations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
