A person has more than 300 degrees of mobility, but it is practically impossible to recreate such a kinematic scheme. In this article, a kinematic scheme of the exoskeleton is proposed that is most necessary for human movement. A 3D model of the exoskeleton actuating unit with an electrohydraulic drive has been developed in the CAD system and the values of masses, coordinates of mass centers, inertia tensors of the links of the exoskeleton actuating unit have been calculated. A launch file has been developed in the MATLAB environment for modeling the dynamics of the exoskeleton actuating unit. The control laws in the degrees of mobility of the actuating unit of the exoskeleton are selected. As a result of the theoretical study, the ranges of changes in the generalized coordinates for the joints under study are determined. The dependences of the power and the moment in the joints 9, 10 on time are obtained. The conducted studies have shown that lifting the leg will require more energy and this makes it necessary to develop power plants, explore various types of drives and ways to control them energy-efficiently. The obtained data can serve in the development of a medical exoskeleton.

We conducted a theoretical study on the properties of a polaron with electron-LO phonon strong-coupling in a cylindrical quantum dot under an electric field using linear combination operator and unitary transformation methods. The changing relations between the ground state energy of the polaron in the quantum dot and the electric field intensity, restricted intensity, and cylindrical height were derived. The numerical results show that the polar of the quantum dot is enlarged with increasing restricted intensity and decreasing cylindrical height, and with cylindrical height at 0 ~ 5 nm , the polar of the quantum dot is strongest. The ground state energy decreases with increasing electric field intensity, and at the moment of just adding electric field, quantum polarization is strongest.

The area of web-based CAD system has grown since the mid-1990s. This paper introduces a new web-based CAD system for fabric appearance. The system uses the Browser/Server structure, and the designer can employ this system installed on the server to build a 3D model of fabric appearance through the Web browser. The basic architecture is discussed in this paper. Some key technologies, such as graphics display, texture mapping and the data exchange, are also investigated. In the last, some future research directions are presented.

A new inspection standard that enhanced quality of operating /maintenance management of the nuclear power plant was introduced in 2009. After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster (Mar. 11th 2011), the situation surrounding the nuclear industry has dramatically changed, and the requirement for maintenance management of nuclear power plants is pushed for more stringent nuclear safety regulations. The new inspection standard requires enhancing equipment maintenance. It is necessary to enhance maintenance of not only equipment but also piping and pipe support. In this paper, we built the methodology for enhancing maintenance plan by rationalizing and visualizing of piping and pipe support based on the “Maintenance Program” in cooperating with 3D-CAD system.

Currently, design and processing of complicated model are enabled by the progress of the CAD/CAM system. In shape measurement, high precision measurement is performed using CMM. In order to evaluate the machined part, the designed model made by CAD system the point cloud data provided by the measurement system are analyzed and compared. Usually, the designed CAD model and measured point cloud data are made in the different coordinate systems, it is necessary to register those models in the same coordinate system for evaluation. In this research, a 3D model registration method based on feature extraction and iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm is proposed. It could efficiently and accurately register two models in different coordinate systems, and effectively avoid the problem of localized solution.

The goal of this work was to develop a 3D model of Electric Swing Adsorption pro- cess for carbon dioxide capture from effluent gasses from power plants. Detailed 3D model of the composite honeycomb monolithic adsorber was developed for a sin- gle monolith channel and can be used to simulate and represent different physical properties: velocity, concentration and temperature. The advantage of this model is the fact that all physical properties and results can be presented visually in the 3D domain. COMSOL Multiphysics software was used for solving partial differential equations and simulations of adsorption and electrothermal desorption processes. Some simulation results are presented in this work. The results obtained from 3D simulations will be used for the adsorber model reduction to the 1D model which will be used for modeling and optimization of the whole ESA cycle due to its sim- plicity and computational demands. Simulation and optimization runs based on the 1D model will be performed in g-Proms software.

The study focuses on a two-handed robot with twelve degrees of freedom, six for each arm, and gives an example of calculating generalized coordinates for the two-armed robot limbs at their joint manipulation. The initial data for obtaining generalized coordinates are represented by the location of the work object, which is a cube. When solving the problem, the last arm links reach the faces of the work object with a given orientation. To obtain generalized coordinates, we used a hierarchical approach, which is based on an algorithm for solving the inverse problem of kinematics, and developed a control flow chart. The values ??of generalized robot coordinates were obtained for each location of the object of work, taking into account the kinematic constraints in the joints of the robot actuator. Findings of research show that it is possible to obtain generalized coordinates for the coordinated movement of the robot actuators with tree-like kinematic scheme.

Abstract A hybrid-type expert system is developed for supporting the initial design process of marine power plants. Firstly, discussion is given generally to understand design process in the view point of applying the AI technique effectively to design. Based on the result of the discussion, a hybrid-type expert CAD system with coupling the AI technique and the numerical optimization method is developed. In the system, the design knowledge is represented in the production rules, and the data of machineries consisting the plant are described by the frame-type representation. Through the system execution, it is ascertained that the system is effective not only as the design tool assisting designers but also as the tool instructing inexperienced designers.

Coaxial-cavity gyrotrons are microwave sources that can extend the possible power levels of hollow cavity gyrotrons significantly and make them attractive for future fusion experiments and power plants. KIT already demonstrated operation of a modular short-pulse 170 GHz coaxial-cavity gyrotron with an output power of 2.2 MW, operating in the TE34,19 mode. Today’s focus of KIT is the verification of this technology at longer pulses, which will prove the long-pulse capabilities also. At the moment, the current KIT prototype has been extended with cooling capabilities for all critical, highly loaded components of the tube and two new, different electron guns are available for operation. This paper will give an overview about the recent status and the future prospects connected to the coaxial-cavity gyrotron development at KIT, including both experimental and theoretical activities.

In conventional 3D NURBS-based isogeometric analysis (IGA), it is required to generate a discretized 3D model from the imported CAD model. Since a CAD file only contains surface information of the 3D object, generation of 3D mesh and trivariate basis functions are required for the IGA. In CAD system, the Boolean difference operation, so-called “trimming” is frequently employed for creating complex objects. To directly utilize the trimming information into analysis, trimmed elements need to be defined and their integration schemes are also needed. In this paper, trimmed elements searching, classification, decomposition and integration rules are presented. In the process, seven types of generalized trimmed elements are defined. Since covering all possible 3D geometries is not possible, three out of seven types of trimmed elements formed by extrusion are treated. The decomposition rule of trimmed elements is introduced and curved tetrahedral cells are adopted to integrate the trimmed elements. For numerical integration of curved tetrahedral cells, 3D NEFEM-like integration scheme has been developed. For the demonstration of the usage of the developed elements, two numerical examples of trimmed volume are treated.
