Introduction: There is a morphological assessment of the damaged area and the inflammatory response of periodontal tissues after therapy. It seems relevant to evaluate the reaction of the periapical tissues of the teeth of experimental animals after the treatment of simulated apical periodontitis using laser photodynamic therapy (PDT) and non-pigment laser transcanal microablation using morphological research. Methods: The lower incisors of 15 rabbits were used to simulate acute apical periodontitis of pulpal origin. Subsequently, the traditional treatment of teeth canals using mechanical cleaning and irrigation with antiseptic solution started. Then, three groups underwent different therapies - using PDT (n = 5; photosensitizer chlorin e6, [l = 660 nm, 60 mW/cm2 ] for 2 minutes), using a new technology of transcanal laser ablation (n = 5; diode laser [l = 1265 nm, 180 mW/cm2 ] for 3 minutes), and without additional treatment (n = 5). Laser therapy in two groups was carried out for 10 days once in 2 days. The animals were euthanized 10 days after the treatment started, decapitation was performed, and morphological specimens were studied under a microscope. Descriptive analysis (study of inflammatory apical infiltrate, bone regeneration of the alveoli and periodontal ligament) and quantitative analysis were performed. The data were statistically processed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The group treated with the new laser technology showed the best results with moderate lymph-macrophage infiltration and congested vessels, moderate neoangiogenesis and fibrogenesis. The size of the lesion was 506.4 mm2 , compared with the PDT group - 872.0 mm2 (P≤0.05). Conclusion: A decrease in the focus of inflammation, moderate neoangiogenesis and fibrogenesis in the periapical region when using transcanal laser microablation indicate the prospects of using the new technology in clinical practice in the complex therapy of apical periodontitis.

Relevanct of the research topic. One of the possible causes of apical periodontitis is the infectious inflammatory process of the periapical periodontal tissues. The microflora of the root canal system is represented by various microorganisms, among which streptococci, enterococci and staphylococci most often prevail. The complex anatomy of the root canal system ensures the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, and the endodontic treatment does not always contribute to their qualitative and quantitative reduction. Purpose ― study of the effectiveness of endodontic treatment of chronic apical periodontitis in the near and long term. Methods. We observed 110 patients aged 20 to 30 years with apical periodontitis, bone density analysis and microbiological examination of the contents of the root canal. Depending on the obtained clinical and laboratory data, the patients were divided into two clinical groups: in group I endodontic treatment of 55 teeth was carried out according to the scheme developed by us; in group II — 55 teeth using the standard method of treatment. Results. In endodontic treatment of chronic apical periodontitis, treatment of the root canal system with a diode laser promotes better decontamination of the microflora. Coal mining introduction into the root canal system and in the region of the transition folds of the platelet autoplasma leads to an increase of the reparative process in the periapical region (p≤0.05). Summary. The inclusion in the Protocol of endodontic treatment of apical periodontitis of treatment of the root canal system with a diode laser and injection of platelet autoplasm is a more effective method of treatment in comparison with the traditional one.

Background. The study of new methods of treating frostbite is feasible using an experimental model, the effectiveness of which is confirmed by morphological results. Purpose of the study. Morphological substantiation of the effectiveness of the developed device for simulating contact frostbites of varying severity. Material and methods. In 30 laboratory rats, the designed device was used to simulate cold trauma of varying severity. The material for morphological research was collected at different time intervals. Results. Morphological argumentation of the effectiveness of the created device for reproducing both superficial and deep frostbites is presented. Conclusions. The developed device is not difficult to manufacture; it is safe and allows reproducing standardized contact frostbites of varying severity in laboratory animals.

Abstract Background Communities in Charge of Alcohol (CICA) is an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) place-based approach to reducing alcohol harm. Local volunteers, from areas with multiple indicators of deprivation, train to become accredited 'Alcohol Health Champions' (AHCs). AHCs, supported by a local co-ordinator, provide brief opportunistic advice at an individual level and mobilise action on alcohol availability through influencing licensing decisions at a community level. CICA is the first programme we are aware of globally that has attempted to build local AHC capacity. Here we explore lessons learned from four case study areas (of the original ten) that persisted with the intervention for more than 12 months. Methods A case study approach to investigate the context, acceptability, facilitators and barriers to maintaining CICA. Descriptive analysis of ongoing recruitment of champions, numbers of training events and activity of champions (as reported by area coordinators). Framework analysis of interviews with AHCs and stakeholders. Results CICA has increased public health capacity by training 123 AHCs in its first year. The four areas that continued with CICA have trained a further 34. The different approaches in the four areas include: embedding champions in wider health champion/volunteering projects; innovative use of new technology (portable fibroscan); expansion into different geographical areas. AHCs and coordinators report significant social value from participation in CICA. Conclusions The likelihood of embedding CICA into a local area's activities appeared to be dependent on the energy and enthusiasm of the local area's co-ordinator, and may be dependent on that individual remaining in post. ABCD programmes may be more likely to be sustainable if capacity building is supported. CICA might be more sustainable if it was embedded in a wider programme of ABCD, since health issues are interrelated and AHCs often wish to broaden their portfolio. Key messages A volunteer alcohol health champions programme increased public health capacity in areas of social deprivation by utilising the assets (skills) of local people. Embedding a community alcohol health champions programme in a wider programme of asset based community development is more sustainable and allows champions to broaden their volunteering portfolio.

The aim of this paper was to, on the basis of everyday clinical practice analize the effect of a homeopathic remedy, as a complementary remedy in endodontic therapy of endoperiodontal lesions and chronic apical periodontitis and to radiologically check its effect on the flow and speed of reparation of damaged periodontal tissues. Endodontic therapy was done according to the usual protocol for the therapy of infectious canals with root canal preparation, medication with calcium hydroxide points and hermetic obturation with AH-26 paste. During endodontic treatment patients were taking homeophatic remedy Hepar sulfuris per os three times daily. The remedy stimulates the natural defences mechanism of the organism. Radiological follow up after three months period showed obvious reductiont of radiologic radiolucency in periapical region.

The objectives of this research are: to know the concept of modeling and simulation the cockpit display based on disadvantages and differences between A320 and B737NG; to offer the development and new technology to design the development (new) flight instruments of the display based on Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 NG flight instrument technology. Methodologies that have been used in this research are literature review, interview/discussion/questionnaire, and descriptive analysis. Questionnaire towards the users/pilots who flies airplane A320 or B737 NG. For the questionnaire, the Likert-scale method is utilized to collect data and information. This research result’s in finding that: 1. the technology of flight instrument system between A320 and B737 NG visually displays similarity with several differences such as ergonomic side, ECAM technology, and VSD technology. 2. Based on works of literature review and response from the users/pilots, the author finds and proposes several technologies or requirements to apply in the new type model of PFD and Multi-function Display, they are including: PFD and MFD merged into one display only with some additional menu buttons; ECAM + engine warning display, ECAM + systems display, and digital instruction to solve the problem merged into one display only with some additional buttons; display design is using the fully digital display, computerized system, LCD technology, VSD, and EHSI technology, and layout display is using configuration “basic T”; standby flight instrument merged into one display only with some additional menu buttons

This study examined the perceptions of the students and the teachers of METU Development Foundation Schools about the use of e-learning / sharing portal technology in their educational activities. Their perceptions were investigated in terms of three aspects: effects of the use of this technology on their perceived motivation, the perceived usefulness, and the perceived ease of use of this technology. A central server was installed for setting up an e-learning / sharing portal environment. Microsoft SharePoint, which is a Sharing Portal Software, was used to access to the central server. The study was conducted in the form of action research. The data were collected from 6th and 7th grade students by using a questionnaire. In addition to the questionnaire with students, interviews were conducted with the teachers. Descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, and descriptive analysis methods were used to analyze the results. The findings of the study indicated that the students and the teachers perceived that e-learning / sharing portal technology is a useful and easy to use technology. It was found out that the students and the teachers are satisfied with advantages of the use of this new technology in their learning environment. Furthermore, the teachers and the students stated that using the system affected students’ perceived motivation towards the educational activities positively.

Introduction: Periapical cysts, especially those of great extension, represent a challenge for endodontics, since they are not repaired with traditional treatment. The aim of this case report was to evaluate the effectivity of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy “aPDT” when associated with calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 in treating such cysts. Case report:  A 40-year-old female patient complained of bulging in the upper anterior region of the mouth. The clinical examination showed an extensive swollen periodontal area, painful with digital palpation, with a negative response to thermal tests on teeth 11 and 21. After traditional treatment, the canals of 11 and 21 were filled with photosensitizer methylene blue 0.005% pre irradiation time (PIT) of 5 minutes and irradiation by low power diode laser with visible red wavelength (660 nm) during 2 minutes without intervals, using an optical fiber delivering system with a helical movement from apical to cervical. Then the canal were filled with Ca(OH)2 paste for 45 days being changed each 15 days, and repeating the radiation. Results: After 45 days, the patient already had a bulging remission, with painless resistance to apical pressure in the region and signs of bone repair at the radiographic examination, and total absence of signs or symptoms. Conclusion: the association of aPDT with Ca(OH)2 paste is effective in treating of periapical lesions of great extension and avoid surgical treatment.Keywords: Antimicrobial; Calcium hydroxide; Diode Laser; Periapical cysts; Photodynamic Therapy; Root canal treatment.
