Automated system for creating training programs for mass professional users

The article discusses the automation of the creation and use of e-learning programs. The impact of automating the learning of a large number of users on the effectiveness of the introduction of a new software product is analyzed. The methods and algorithms that increase the efficiency of creating electronic training programs on example of the author’s automated system “Tutor Builder” are described. The results of experimental verification of the automated system are provided.

The aim of this chapter is to assess the impact of different organizational factors on the success of e-learning programs, in terms of both self-reported satisfaction and the level of learning. Hence, this study adds to the analysis of the efficacy of e-learning models from an organizational perspective by providing some useful insights, which may help to improve decision-making related to employee’s continuing education and satisfaction. This simulation, using a bivariate ordered probit model, shows that economic and indirect economic incentives play a key role in augmenting the level of both satisfaction and learning. This analysis also considers how efficacy of learning programs may thus improve by linking the human resources development policy with results obtained in e-learning courses.

The study examines the effect of e-learning on the students’ academic performance at Al-Quds Open University. 382 students have been randomly selected from the university's official records where a statistical analysis of the study variables was performed using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences program (SPSS.20).  The study hypotheses were tested by Paired Samples T-tests.The study has revealed that there are statistically significant differences in the students’ academic performance over the implementation of the e-learning strategy with regard to the level of the vast majority of students, gender, educational program, as well as their academic level.The study recommends the necessity of enhancing the e-learning strategy in the higher education institutions to foster the students’ academic performance taking into account the specificity of some learning programs such as the Arabic language programs and the social studies.

Σκοπός της εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση της επίδρασης της εξ αποστάσεως εκπαίδευσης στη διαδικασία επιμόρφωσης των εν ενεργεία Εκπαιδευτικών Πρωτοβάθμιας και Δευτεροβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης. Έγινε καταγραφή των απόψεων μετά από τη συμμετοχή τους σε προγράμματα εξ αποστάσεως επιμόρφωσης. Το 4ο Περιφερειακό Κέντρο Εκπαιδευτικού Σχεδιασμού (ΠΕΚΕΣ) Κ. Μακεδονίας σε συνεργασία με το «itlab» εργαστήρι πληροφορικής του Διεθνούς Πανεπιστημίου Ελλάδος (ΔΙ.ΠΑ.Ε.) ανταποκρινόμενο στις απαιτήσεις των εκπαιδευτικών για συνέχιση των εξ αποστάσεως επιμορφωτικών προγραμμάτων του σχολικού έτους 2017-2018 υλοποίησε τέσσερα (4) προγράμματα εξ αποστάσεως επιμόρφωσης, με χρήση της πλατφόρμας ασύγχρονης εκπαίδευσης OpeneClass και της πλατφόρμας σύγχρονης εκπαίδευσης BigBlueButton. Με την ολοκλήρωση σε καθένα από τα προγράμματα υλοποιήθηκε έρευνα με ερωτηματολόγια ερωτήσεων κλειστού και ανοικτού τύπου μέσω της πλατφόρμας, ώστε να καταγραφούν οι στάσεις, οι απόψεις και οι προτάσεις των εκπαιδευτικών για την εμπειρία τους κατά την διάρκεια της τηλεπιμόρφωσης καθώς και τα συμπεράσματά τους για την υλοποίηση εξ αποστάσεως επιμορφώσεων γενικότερα. Έγινε αποτίμηση και επισκόπηση των απαιτούμενων εκπαιδευτικών πόρων στην εφαρμογή εξ αποστάσεως εκπαίδευσης. The aim of this program is to investigate the impact of distance learning on teachers training processes of education of primary and secondary teachers in active education. Τhe opinions of the Teachers were recorded, after their attendance of distance learning courses. The 4th PEKES of Central Macedonia in collaboration with the ITlab Computer Lab of the International Hellenic University in response to the demands of teachers for the continuation  distance learning programs of last scholar year (2017-2018) realized four distance learning programs. The courses were developed on the OpeneClass asynchronous training platform, supported by the synchronous BigBlueButton training platform. Α questionnaire of closed-ended questions was answered through the platform in order to capture the opinions of the teachers for their experience of the online training. The required educational resources in distance learning implementation were evaluated and reviewed.

The history of usability began almost 20 years ago when computers were about to be used outside the designer and programmer environment. Until the 1980s software was mostly produced and used by designers so usability was taken for granted. In 1983, the first computers providing a graphic interface and a mouse were produced by Apple for distribution on a large scale. The gradual introduction of computers to offices and houses began creating usability problems. The development of computers was guided mainly by the technology available at that time. Gradually, the impact of training costs, errors in the interaction between user and computer, and the evolution of studies regarding the “human factor”, carried out by psychologists and ergonomics experts, led to a reflection on the importance of the target users.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of an e-learning online event, created for supporting resident’s training during the slowdown of surgical and clinical activities caused by COVID-19 pandemic. An overview of PubMed literature depicting the state of the art of urology residency in the COVID-19 era was performed as well, to contextualize the issue. Methods: An online learning event for residents was set up at the beginning of the pandemic; the faculty consisted of experts in urology who provided on-line lectures and videos on surgical anatomy, procedures, updates in guidelines, technology, training. The audience was composed of 30–500 attendees from Italy, USA, India and Belgium. A questionnaire to analyze relevance, satisfaction and popularity of the lessons was mailed to 30 local residents. Results and limitations: Almost all residents defined the web environment suitable to achieve the learning outcomes; the method, the number and the competence of the faculty were appropriate/excellent. Most of the younger residents (81.8%) stated their surgical knowledge would improve after the course; 72.7% declared they would take advantage into routine inpatients clinical activity. Nineteen more expert residents agreed that the course would improve their surgical knowledge and enhance their practical skills; almost all stated that the initiative would change their outpatients and inpatients practice. Overall, 44 articles available in PubMed have addressed the concern of urological learning and training during the pandemic from different standpoints; four of them considered residents’ general perception towards web-based learning programs. Conclusions: The paper confirms residents’ satisfaction with e-learning methods and, to our knowledge, is the first one focusing on a specific event promptly settled up at the beginning of the outbreak. Web-based educational experience developed during the pandemic may represent the very basis for the implementation of prospective on-site training and overall scientific update of future urologists.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to facilitate a participant led arts-based workshop for survivors of female genital mutilation (FGM) in order to explore their experiences and impact of FGM on health and wellbeing, and to use the artefacts to inform development of an e-learning resource. Design/methodology/approach The study utilised a creative narrative approach which included the sharing of personal stories, the creation of pottery models and the sharing of artefacts. A narrative approach was chosen as the methodology for the study as narratives are now well established within qualitative research as a meaningful way in which the voices of participants take precedence over those of the researcher. Six women who are living with FGM agreed to take part. Findings The composition of the workshop essentially encompassed two main strands: the creation of a persona and sharing artefacts. These are described in detail with supplementary images included wherever appropriate. The authors have not attempted to present the findings of the workshop from the perspective of the researcher but have rather enabled the findings to speak for themselves. Research limitations/implications There is a paucity of studies which have explored women’s experiences of living with FGM and the impact on health and well-being. The findings suggest that there is further scope for research and practice development which examines the impact of education on professional’s approaches to FGM. Originality/value This study and the wider focus towards the impact of FGM beyond the physical or procedural aspects of FGM offer a contribution to the evolving evidence base in this field.

<p>Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has had various impacts on society. The impact on the world of education is one of them. The community is required to follow changes in learning patterns from face-to-face to long-distance which is often called e-learning. For this reason, various parties are needed to support this learning process, one of which is a library with the aim of supporting the learning process of the community in the midst of pandemic. Methodology: This research uses descriptive research method. For data collection and analysis methods using literature studies from various references. Results and Discussion: Raising awareness of the importance of education during a pandemic to the public, distance learning is a need that must be met with synergy of education providers, communities, governments and libraries. Innovation in circulation services, database services and e-resources, managing online library events, compiling credible information sources and coordinating among librarians are expected to support e-learning programs in Indonesia. Conclusion: This study shows that e-learning is very much needed by society in current and future conditions. The education system can be implemented practically, efficiently and facilitates community learning. Library innovation to support e-learning is also very much needed to support the community learning process in the midst of a pandemic.</p>

Abstract Background: Musculoskeletal system pain is a major concern in our life due to its negative effects on our ability to perform our daily functions. During the COVID-19 pandemic several countries around the world switched their teaching programs into e-learning programs, where students spend long hour using desktop/ laptop or tablet devices. The use of these devices was associated with several complains among the students like neck, shoulder and back pain. The aim of this study is to evaluate the degree of different body aches associated with e-learning on university students and to find a link between the most common body posture, the duration of usage of desktop/ laptop or tablet devices with the negative health outcome on these students. Methods: The subjects of this study were students from An-Najah university in Palestine. 385 questionnaires were filled using Google forms as a web-based questionnaire and all the subjects were using e-learning approach due to COVID-19 pandemic. Upon completion of the study, descriptive statistics, correlation statistics with Pearson coefficient and Chi square analysis were used to study the sample.Results: Our study showed that a large percentage of participants used the desktop/ laptop or tablet devices for e-learning during the pandemic. The Duration of these devices use was correlated with the duration and degree of pain among the participants, and also associated with the difficulty in their ability to perform several daily activities. In addition, most of the students used the sitting position with the supine bent forward during the device usage. When comparing the pain level and duration associated with desktop/ laptop or tablet device usage in both genders, female tend to have higher duration and more severe pain compared to male. Conclusion: The university students that participated in this study had an increase in body aches during the e-learning process, and the aches duration and severity increases if the duration of desktop/laptop or tablet usage increase.

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">As governments and international bodies worldwide sought to prevent the spread of Covid-19, underdeveloped countries have been particularly challenged as they have little or no technological models and frameworks in place and the literature offers little guidance. The current research applied a quantitative approach to researching educational practitioners’ perceptions of e-learning acceptance, using a sample of 4,024 educators and students from a range of Kuwaiti educational institutions. Findings indicate that respondents were slightly supportive of e-learning adoption, with a majority acknowledging its advantages. However, respondents also mention the need for development in the technological competencies required to operate the proposed e-learning programs and a range of challenges that may impact e-learning. Hence, the authors propose a distance and blended learning model (DBLM) to enhance the implementation, utilisation, and evaluation of e-learning within the Kuwaiti educational system. Also, an e-learning teacher capability maturity model (eTCMM) was proposed to foster educators’ competencies and enable their active use of e-learning platforms. </span></p>
