This article discusses about role of leadership and motivation of school headmaster in improving teacher performance. By using literature review in education, this article found that teacher is a professional profession where he is required to make every effort to carry out his activities as best he can. The task of the teacher as an educator, teacher and trainer should be able to impact the students. The teacher as one component in teaching and learning activities, has a position that greatly determines the success of learning. The role of the school headmaster is very important and dominant in improving teacher performance, both in increasing competence and work motivation and in building effective work systems and creating a harmonious, safe and pleasant working atmosphere. The efforts of improving the quality of teachers must be continuously carried out by school headmaster in order to improve the performance of teachers into reliable individuals who will advance the school organization. Therefore, we need the ability of the leadership role and motivation of the principal to explore, disseminate, foster and develop the potential of the teacher in order to improve teacher performance in order to achieve educational goals

This chapter explores the work-family interface by investigating home as a potential work space that must still accommodate the social and leisure needs of household members. By examining spatial patterns of household Internet location, this chapter investigates the prevalence of paid work in Canadian homes, illustrates how household spaces are reorganized to accommodate the computer/Internet, and examines how the location of Internet access is situated within sociocultural contexts of the household and how this might affect potential work-from-home scenarios. Data collected from a triangulation of methods—surveys, interviews and in-home observation—also illustrate the relevance of household Internet location from an organizational perspective. The relationship between individuals and business organizations is interactive and integrative, and the home workplace is complex and blurred with other daily social realities, which influence effective work-at-home strategies and potentially shapes productivity and efficiency.

In this chapter, we elaborate on effects of recently induced digitalization of teaching, and consequently on innovative learning. A series of workshops on using digital tools in the teaching process—performed by teachers for teachers—was used to conduct a two-level analysis on how digitally supported teaching is performed. In the first level, a teachers Delphi analysis was performed, in the second level, we observed teacher performance in the role of learners, examining the user experience of multiple digitally supported teaching technologies. The study reveals that only some elements of innovative learning, i.e. understanding, commenting and providing feedback, modifying the environment and upgrading the learning content were positively influenced by digital technology. The proposed text can provide value-added for teachers in preparing their on-site and on-line courses; furthermore, it provides educational organization backgrounds on how to deliver adequate support for their staff, and finally: it gives learners an insight into how to participate in an innovative course.

There is a large body of research examining work disability management and the return to work (RTW) of sick or injured workers. However, although this research makes clear the roles of the returning worker and supervisor, that of the co-workers is less well understood. To increase understanding of this topic, we have identified, reviewed, and discussed three studies that emerged from our connection with a Canadian research-training program. The first study, conducted in Sweden by Tjulin, MacEachen, and Ekberg (2009), showed that co-workers can play a positive role in RTW, but this is often invisible to supervisors. The second study, undertaken by Dunstan and MacEachen (2013) in Canada, found that RTW could both positively and negatively impact co-workers. For instance, co-workers may benefit from learning new skills, but may also be burdened by the need to assume extra work to accommodate a returning worker. The third study, performed in Belgium by Mortelmans and Verjans (2012) and Mortelmans, Verjans, and Mairiaux (2012) reported the need to include the expectations and objections of co-workers in RTW plans and implemented a three-step RTW tool that involves co-workers. Taken together, these studies highlight the social context of work, the positive role played by co-workers in the RTW process, the impacts of workplace social relations on RTW outcomes, and the benefits to all of involving co-workers in RTW plans.

This article explores the role of symbolic score data in the authors' mobile music-making applications, as well as the social sharing and community-based content creation workflows currently in use on their on-line musical network. Web-based notation systems are discussed alongside in-app visual scoring methodologies for the display of pitch, timing and duration data for instrumental and vocal performance. User-generated content and community-driven ecosystems are considered alongside the role of cloud-based services for audio rendering and streaming of performance data.

From mid-March to the end of May 2020, millions of Italians were forced to work from home because of the lockdown provisions imposed by the Italian government to contain the COVID-19 epidemic. As a result, many employees had to suddenly switch to remote work, experiencing both troubles and opportunities. Social isolation from colleagues and the workplace represents a typical aspect of remote work which increased significantly during the social confinement imposed by the government. This study investigates the correlates of social isolation in terms of stress, perceived remote work productivity and remote work satisfaction, proposing the sequential mediation of stress and perceived remote work productivity, and the moderating role of concern about the new coronavirus. An online survey was conducted, and the responses of 265 employees showed the deleterious role of social isolation in stress, which leads to decreased perceived remote work productivity that, in turn, is related to remote work satisfaction. Furthermore, the results suggest that concern about the virus moderates the relationships between social isolation and remote work satisfaction, from one side, and remote work perceived productivity and remote work satisfaction from the other. This latter result suggests that the indirect sequential effect of social isolation on remote work satisfaction is conditional on concern about the virus. Some conclusions are drawn to support managers and HR officers in the choices to better manage employees’ work during the health emergency.

This case is appropriate for an introductory financial analysis course, intermediate case study in financial analysis, or any course that is preparing students to take the CFA exam. Because of the policy analysis that is included, it could also be used in a public finance class or an intermediate microeconomics course. It provides a basis for developing an understanding of how Social Security benefits are calculated. The specific focus of the case is on the Windfall Elimination Provision and the calculations which must be made to re-estimate benefits for those who are affected by this provision. The student plays the role of financial advisor. When advising a client about the stream of income which can be anticipated in retirement, it is vitally important to realize that, if the client has worked both as a government employee and in the private sector, the benefits the client will receive from Social Security may be less than what is indicated in the annual Social Security Statement. The policy implications section of the case also points out some of the surprising affects resulting from the structure of the Windfall Elimination Provision. The questions at the end of the case test the students understanding of the complexities of the system. Depending on the instructors guidance, students can familiarize themselves with the on-line calculators developed by the Social Security Administration.

Although coaches and players recognize the importance of leaders within the team, research on athlete leadership is sparse. The present study expands knowledge of athlete leadership by refining the current classification and exploring the importance of the team captain. An on-line survey was completed by 4451 players and coaches within nine different team sports in Flanders (Belgium). The results revealed that the proposed additional role of motivational leader was perceived as clearly distinct from the already established roles (task, perceive their captain as the principal leader on any of the four roles. These findings underline that the leadership qualities attributed to the captain as the team‟s formal leader are overrated. It can be concluded that leadership is spread throughout the team; the social, and external leader). Furthermore, almost half of the participants (44%) did not informal leaders rather than the captain take the lead, both on and off the field.

Abstract. This contribution consists of a critical review of the literature about the articulation of two traditionally separated theoretical fields: social representations and commitment. Besides consulting various works and communications, a bibliographic search was carried out (between February and December, 2016) on various databases using the keywords “commitment” and “social representation,” in the singular and in the plural, in French and in English. Articles published in English or in French, that explicitly made reference to both terms, were included. The relations between commitment and social representations are approached according to two approaches or complementary lines. The first line follows the role of commitment in the representational dynamics: how can commitment transform the representations? This articulation gathers most of the work on the topic. The second line envisages the social representations as determinants of commitment procedures: how can these representations influence the effects of commitment procedures? This literature review will identify unexploited tracks, as well as research perspectives for both areas of research.
