The purpose of this study was to analyse the media used in ELT textbook for beginners based on local characteristics of students by showing the data from analysed textbook, which is inappropriate for the the young learners in Indonesia, and this media made the teaching learning process ineffective and inefficient. Descriptive research design was applied in this study. The technique for collecting the data was quantitative approach. There were three (3) textbooks commonly used in primary level grade 4 in Indonesia. Those three were analyzed based on the local characteristics of students using demographic analysis. The result shows that only 5.6% of the media was related to local characteristics of students since the rest were to related general and foreign characteristic which reached 49% and 45.4% respectively. Therefore, the reason why the Englishlearners in Indonesia particularly on primary level grade 4 could not reach the standard of English Learning was because the media was 94.4% not related to the local characteristics of students.

The teaching focuses on short-term purposes, those are testing purposes. In fact, in teaching English, the assessment should focus on the function of the language itself. Those teaching styles might be caused by short-term purpose of teaching English: focuses on knowledge and memorization for testing purposes rather than communicative competence. Therefore all the teaching efforts focused on answering the tests while the primary function of learning English is being ignored. Memorizing vocabularies is general activities in teaching of English in primary level.  Thus to avoid such short-term purpose learning, a well and careful designed assessment should put into consideration in teaching English for young learners. Consequently the teaching-learning process will focus on authentic use of language. For those reason, authenticity in the assessment is a major consideration. This is a community service activity which was about English teaching and learning for young learners and its application in classes. The teachers of young learners needs to have knowledge about songs, games and media to teach English which is appropriate with learners’ and era’s need. Furthermore, this workshop is important to facilitate the teachers in giving the fun English materials. In this activitiy the teacher were trained to make the fun applicated media and the newest English nursery songs and games to be applied in their classes. It is hoped that this activity can facilitate the teachers in Kabupaten Pasuruan about the importantce of English learning for Young Learners, also teachers are hoped to be able to apply the fun and effective teaching learning process which is appropriate to the age and ability of the young learners and also appropriate with this era.Keywords: English teaching, teachers, workshop

The use of technology-based learning media, including video in English class can trigger students’ motivation to learn English and improve the learning process. This interesting and innovative media is believed to promote students’ engagement along the process. This descriptive study aims to describe the response of students related to their engagement to the use of English Learning video developed by using Camtasia Studio in second-grade students of elementary school. The data were collected through observations, interview and teacher’s questionnaire rubric. The result reveals that using technology-based media in classroom is really appropriate to increase students’ motivation and learning activeness to get a better teaching and learning process. Students and teacher gave positive responses toward the media and it was categorized into ‘Excellent’ media in which it was interesting and fulfilled the needs of second-grade students. Further, it was suggested for the next research to conduct the study in different grade.

Since teacher talk is a necessary input for the students in an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classroom, the objectives of this study are analyzing the categories of teacher talk and the classroom interaction in young learners’ classroom at reputable English Courses in Malang. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research design by using an observation sheets and an interview guide as the instruments. Besides, the researcher recorded the audio for every meeting. The result shows that, the teacher talk used in the classroom has been classified as direct teacher talk covering informing something, giving directions, and justifying students’ authority. For the classroom interaction in the class, it was found that the way students responded to their teacher’s talk was by individually. Further, it was found that direct teacher talk was implemented in the learning process and the implementations of this teacher talk were also connected with the way the students respond to their teacher talk

Interactive learning media facilitate students to be understand and comprehend certain contents of engineering subjects. Therefore, this study aimed to develop e-instructional multimedia for students in the subject of basic electronics and electricity using adobe flash CS 5.5. This subject was selected to support the teaching-learning process at the Vocational Secondary Schools. There were five stages during the development of the learning media, including (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation (ADDIE). Furthermore, 30 students in total were selected to test the media practicability. The results revealed that this multimedia is acceptable based on five criteria: creativity, affectivity, efficiency, interestingly, and interactivity with the scores of 76.8, 76.8, 71.5, 77.4, and 74.4 respectively. This study suggested the implementation of the e-instructional multimedia for further understanding its empirical application.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the cooperative principle violation between the teacher and the students in grade eighth classroom teaching and learning process in SMP N 11 Pematangsiantar. The problem of this research was What cooperative principle are violated by the teacher and the students in grade eighth classroom teaching and learning process in SMP N 11 Pematangsiantar, To solve the problem, the researchers use some theories like: Grundy (2000), Yule (1996), Cruse (2000), Cook (1989), Cutting (2002), Moloeong (2007), Grice (1975). The research done in this study follows descriptive qualitative perspective. Source data in this study is the cooperative principle violation between the teacher and the students in grade eighth classroom teaching and learning process in SMP N 11 Pematangsiantar. Descriptive research describes what it is. It involves the descriptions, recording, analysis, and interpretation of conditions that exist. After analyzing the data, the researchers conclude that the maxim are flouted if the information is more informative than is required, ambiguous, uses symbolic, not absolutely true, lack of adequate evidence. The maxim can be flouted when the researcherss produce some utterances in the form. From the data can found the maxim, they are: maxim of Quality, maxim of Quantity, maxim of Relevant, maxim of Manner. The maxim flout when the conversation started until the end, so the maxim can used in the conversation and the conversation can analyze with the maxim.

The process of learning English in SMP N 2 Penebel class VII C showed that students experienced obstacles in speaking. It could be seen from result of observation, interview and pre-test. It was 2.70 which is categorized below the passing grade minimum criteria: 3.0. Researcher indicated that it was because they seemed to be having lack of motivation in the English learning process. The use of interactive video in learning is necessary in order to improve students' motivation in speaking. Action research design was accommodated to help their problems. The researcher offered three kinds of tests. The result of pre-test was 2.70. After pre-test, the researcher went into cycle 1 which succeeded in improving their speaking from 2.70 to 2.96. In cycle 2, there was improvement up to 3.31. The use of interactive video gave positive responses to the students. As the result, their speaking could be improved.

The students problem in understanding the electron configurations was caused by the ineffective learning media which is used by the teacher didn’t fit the student’s characteristic. Therefore, it is important to develop media of Lego Chemistry games for electron configurations class. The validation of the media is validated in three aspects. They were validity from the results of the game, practicality from the results of the questionnaire, and the effectiveness from the results of the pre and post tests. This study used a Research and Development (R & D) model of Borg and Gall conducted in seven stages. The study showed that media of Lego Chemistry games was suitable for teaching learning process. It can be seen from the results of the material and media aspects by 0,83 and 0,94 which was valid. The results of the practicality of the questionnaires on the small and main tryouts were 92,50% and 90,66% and were considered practical. The results of the effectiveness of the N Gain on the small and main tryouts were 0.74 and 0.92 (high). Therefore, media of Lego Chemistry games was valid and effective. It is suitable to be used as the learning media in Chemistry class.

Es la razón de este trabajo de investigación: “Uso de las TIC en la práctica pedagógica de los docentes del Departamento de Ciencias Jurídicas de la PUCMM campus Santiago”. Es por ello, que el objetivo general busca “Analizar el uso que dan los docentes del Departamento de Ciencias Jurídicas de la PUCMM, a las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación en su práctica pedagógica”. El diseño de la investigación fue no experimental y de enfoque eminentemente cuantitativo.AbstractNowadays, technology helps raise the quality of teaching practice and processes of renewal in the retraining of teachers. To the extent that technological developments are assumed, the teaching learning process will help raise the skills of apprentices. That is why this research: “Use of ICT in teaching practice of teachers in the Department of Legal Sciences of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago”. It is therefore the overall objective sought to “analyze how teachers of the Department of Legal Sciences of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, use information and communications technology in their teaching practices.” The research design was non-experimental and eminently quantitative approach.
