The use of technology-based learning media, including video in English class can trigger students’ motivation to learn English and improve the learning process. This interesting and innovative media is believed to promote students’ engagement along the process. This descriptive study aims to describe the response of students related to their engagement to the use of English Learning video developed by using Camtasia Studio in second-grade students of elementary school. The data were collected through observations, interview and teacher’s questionnaire rubric. The result reveals that using technology-based media in classroom is really appropriate to increase students’ motivation and learning activeness to get a better teaching and learning process. Students and teacher gave positive responses toward the media and it was categorized into ‘Excellent’ media in which it was interesting and fulfilled the needs of second-grade students. Further, it was suggested for the next research to conduct the study in different grade.

Teaching special needs students becomes more challenging and frustrating. Moreover, some SLB in Kendari nowadays have not been facilitated by suitable learning media, particularly in EFL context.  This study describes the research that sought to understand if the teaching media electronic or not, using flashcards, foldable books, and posters, is under the necessities of deaf and hard hearing students. This question becomes the primary goal of the investigation, and its enlighten is divided into three specific goals. They are, finding out the effects of the media used in assisting special need students and EFL teacher in the class; helping them in communication and comprehending the teaching materials especially in vocabulary English class; and gaining EFL teacher’s and special need students’ motivation in teaching and learning process utilizing the media. This study used qualitative by single case study design, which was conducted about six months in 2018. Five students by deaf and hard hearing impairment of SLB-F Mandara (special private junior high school) are as the sample of this study. The observation list and depth-interview were utilized in data collection. After doing some interventions, the data analysis used data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that by intervention and utilizing diverse media by flashcards, foldable books and posters could ultimately gain teacher’s and students’ motivation in the EFL context.

One of factors in the decline of student ability is due to the lack of teacher creativity in the teaching and learning process, especially in Bahasa Indonesia subjects that contain text material so it tends to be boring if it only delivered through lectures. The method (field research) with a descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study, because the researcher went directly to the research location. Researchers use interviews, observations, etc. in data collection. This research shows that when the teacher uses the language game technique to complete the story of the students, the teacher is finally able to improve the ability of the second grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Islam Uranggantung, even by using the language game technique to complete the story, students are able to win the poetry reading contest at the district level.

The object of this research is describing the students’ perception and to investigate how the students their perception about their teacher in learning process among second grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Amin Sorong. The method of this research was descriptive quantitative, the collect data is analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 17. The survey study was conducted to gather data from respondents. There were   31 students as respondents in this study. The instrument is questionnaire. The students’ perception about their teacher academic performance was in high level category. The students have 2 positive perceptions and one negative perception. Positive perception is in teacher knowledge of subject matter and teacher attitude to work. While negative perception is in the teacher’s skill of teaching the subject matter. Generally, the result of the data analysis and testing hypothesis shows that most of the students gave perception toward their teachers’ performance in teaching and learning process.

Media in learning process is very intact because it will be supported from  the learning to be more easily exposed. Many experts say that with the media, it can help teachers and students in the learning process to be able and achieve the goals of the learning process. This research aimed it introducing and describing how the  preparation and utilization of the flash cards media are used by teachers in teaching English to young learners. This research was conducted at SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. The method used in this research is the descriptive research in accordance with the case study that occurred. The source of the data was the English teacher and the subjects were the second grade students of SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. Observation, interviews and documentation are the data collection techniques used in this research. The findings reveal that teachers use flash card media according to the material to be delivered to young learners. Based on the results of the research the flash card media can help facilitate teachers in the delivery of learning material, students are also more enthusiastic, excited and very happy to learn English and very influential in the teaching and learning process.  Keywords:  instructional media, utilization of instructional media, flash Card

The use of technology in teaching and learning is an important aspect which has received  considerable attention  in  recent  years.  In a similar  sense,  the use of mobile phone application especially WhatsApp  messenger to  increase effectiveness of instruction has been acknowledged through a number of studies carried out so far. This study was conducted to find the effect of using WhatsApp Messenger on students’ speaking achievement at the second grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Kendari. The research question is that “Is there any significant effect of using WhatsApp messenger on students’ speaking achievement at the second grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Kendari?” This study used a quantitative approach by applying a comparative study. The participants of the study consisted of 60 students who were in two different classes: class XI IPA 2 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 4 as the control class. The experimental class consisted of 30 students taught in a combination method (WhatsApp Messenger and discussion method)   while the control class consisted of 30 students taught through using a conventional method. The  results of this  study showed  that  there  were  differences  in  the  speaking achievement of the students in the experimental class and the control class. This difference was in favor of the experimental class. The value of Chi-Square count is 28.486 and the Chi-Square Table is 19.675. So the H1 accepted and H0 is rejected . The differences between the two classes indicated that integrating the WhatsApp application in teaching English language improved speaking achievement of the students of the experimental class. Keywords: WhatsApp Messenger, Discussion, Speaking  achievement.

The development of the digital era requires teachers to insert technology into English instruction. Teachers must be able not only to use the internet and computer software but also to implement technology appropriately in the teaching and learning process in order to help students achieve learning objectives. Many teachers have done inserting technology into English instruction. In addition, research on technology integration in English class has been mushrooming since years ago. However, the evaluation dealing with the implementation of technology in English instruction is limited. This research aims at evaluating how teachers use technology in the teaching and learning process. The evaluation focuses on whether the use of technology has enhanced students’ learning experiences or transformed students’ learning experiences. Four levels of the SAMR model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) are used to assess the implementation. Here, the researchers gauged information from six English teachers of the senior high school in Banyuwangi regency concerning how they use technology in the teaching and learning process.

This paper is intended to identify how teachers’ emphasis on writing influence the learning process in an English class, taking into account that the development of the four language skills is essential for learning a second language to gain an effective communication. this study adopts some main concepts related to English teaching and learning, which are: language skills, writing and learning process. Then, in order to recognize this educational case, this study follows a qualitative approach, a hermeneutic paradigm and a case study, using a non-participant observation, a participant observation, a semi-structured interview and some task-based learning (TBL) sessions which were observed critically by the researchers; all these data collection tools were useful to achieve the aim of this research. The aim of this study is to exhibit how the teachers’ emphasis on writing over the other language skills affects the English learning process in third grade students, at the “Institución Educativa San Cristóbal.” Among the remarkable results, it is visible that the teacher made the students develop aspects on the writing skill, but these were focused on transcription and repetition rather than comprehensible written productions.

The use of technology in learning media is very necessary for all educational institutions. Creating a pleasant learning atmosphere through multimedia means in the form of interactive animations. It was felt effective to increase children's learning interest in recognizing letters and numbers at TK RA Nurul Iman Jakarta. Use the type of research and development with the ADDIE model. Calculation of the app's feasibility to produce interactive animations that fit your needs. The purpose of making this learning media helps students to be able to more easily understand and understand and not feel bored in learning to start from letters and numbers and how to pronounce them. After the learning process, students will work on the quiz and there will also be games to make the child's thinking speed better. In addition, this application can help teachers in the teaching and learning process that is considered very boring, with an average value of 82.6% showing this interactive animation application is very fun for the media to learn the introduction of numbers and letters.

In the context of assessment, performance-based assessment is one of the authentic assessments to be applied in the English classroom as the completion of the newest curriculum demands. Thus, teachers are suggested to implement this assessment in the English teaching and learning process. Concerning that fact, this current study aims at investigating the washback of the use of performance-based assessment in the English class and the barriers faced by the teachers in implementing performance-based assessment in the English learning process. This study applied a qualitative research design. Using purposive sampling, there were two teachers and 72 students who participated in this study. An open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview were carried out in collecting the data. The result showed that performance-based assessment affected positively to the teachers. They could identify the students’ real competence, improve their teaching quality, and assess students objectively. Further, it gives positive effects for the EFL learners in matters such as learning enthusiasm and self-confidence, boredom reduction, and skill improvement. In conclusion, the use of performance-based assessment is good at improving some teaching aspects both on teachers and students. This findings prove the importance of performance-based assessment to bost the teaching and learning quality.

To master English, students must learn many things, including about grammar in order to use English properly and correctly. There are a number of ways lecturers can do to support teaching and learning process, one of which is by making use of technology to develop learning media. Using media is expected to make learning process about grammar enjoyable. This research aims to develop learning media using VideoScribe for the subject of Present Continuous Tense which is one of the materials studied by odd semester students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau. This research further designs, implements and tests the feasibility of the learning media. This research is a research and development (R&D) model with ADDIE which consists of 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The subjects of this study were undergraduate students majoring in non-English Department which consisted of 35 students in odd semester. The results of alpha testing, expert material assessment showed that the media that were designed was in a very good category with an average score of 4.26. Meanwhile, for trials with students, the video animation media using VideoScribe was in a very good category with an average score of 4.25. Therefore, it can be concluded that the instructional media designed is suitable to be used to support teaching and learning activities.
