Abstract The virtue of compassion is a valid antidote to lighten the burden of negative effects brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, real-life situations can attest that this is not always the kind of behavior for some people since the current situation is considered as ‘survival of the fittest.’ In its absence, the respect of freedom by public officials to every citizen is a great substitute most especially in the implementation of the government’s vaccination program. This behavior actualizes every person’s plan of protection without being pressured. This right needs to be provided and not taken away by the government.

This chapter aims to discuss the dialectic relationship between interior environments of heritage buildings and users and the importance of preserving interior elements as communicators of cultural significance. Today the conservation practice and reuse proposals focus on preserving the architectural envelope of buildings rather than interior aspects. Conversely, interiors need specific safeguard and care, not only due to their cultural significance but also because they are the part most closely connected to the real life of users. In the perspective of cultural conservation, existing buildings represent the continuity of cultural values from the past to the future, and at this point, interior architecture is crucial as it provides an authentic interaction between users and spaces conveying all these values. Therefore, the conservation of interior envelope and interior elements rises as a very important issue to be discussed, affecting the occupant's well-being in a very subjective and sometimes unconscious way (considering the cultural belonging).

We consider the current situation associated with the revival of icon painting traditions. It is believed that the icon, despite all the difficulties of understanding, is the element that contributes to the revival and formation of internal foundations, so necessary at the current stage of society development. The work traces the situation associated with the destruction of traditional spiritual values in the post-revolutionary period. We tell about those people who, in such a difficult time, tried to preserve the basic dogmatic canons of icon painting. We prove that it is their constant desire to preserve and spread the original values, as well as tireless work, that help such a vibrant cultural heritage not disappear. We analyze the features of traditional statutory icon painting existence in Tambov. We substantiate that the emerging Tambov icon painting direction with its own traditions, development stages and expressive means, based on the pious and artistic expe-rience of our ancestors, preserves and enhances the icon painting traditions in Russia. Also, the use of malachite color gives the created images uniqueness, filling them with its own semiotic context. We note the peculiarities of this direction. We conclude that it is necessary to revive a highly spiri-tual personality by studying this direction.

A 3-week laboratory module was developed for an undergraduate microbiology course that would connect student learning to a real-life challenge, specifically a local water-quality project. The laboratory series included multiple field trips, sampling of soil and water, and subsequent analysis for bacteria and nitrate. Laboratory results confirmed the usefulness of comparing real environmental samples, and student survey and performance data supported the original hypothesis of this study in terms of student learning objectives.

IN MASONRY: TECNOLOGY AND PRACTICE. The distancing of these technicians from the technology centers is unanimously recognized by them. The situation of conservation / restoration professionals in masonry in Brazil is not easy, it needs both training and the permanence of restoration and conservation works.
