Abstract The virtue of compassion is a valid antidote to lighten the burden of negative effects brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, real-life situations can attest that this is not always the kind of behavior for some people since the current situation is considered as ‘survival of the fittest.’ In its absence, the respect of freedom by public officials to every citizen is a great substitute most especially in the implementation of the government’s vaccination program. This behavior actualizes every person’s plan of protection without being pressured. This right needs to be provided and not taken away by the government.

The Korean central government complex was relocated from Seoul, its capital city, to the newly constructed Sejong City in phases from 2012 to 2014. This study examines how the government relocation affects public officials’ compassion. Applying a two-way fixed effect estimation to mitigate endogeneity, I find that public officials’ sympathy declined significantly after the relocation and that certain management practices, such as a performance-related reward system, have exacerbated these negative effects. As a sympathetic attitude is a significant aspect of public service motivation and it positively related to government productivity, this study maintains that it is necessary for management to take heed of the disadvantageous effects of government relocation and attempt to address them.

Abstract As the world welcomes the availability and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, coupled with it is the ‘hesitant’ predicament of some Filipinos to get vaccinated because of the confusing information regarding its efficacy. With this, the government needs to build up public trust to assure a successful vaccination program. A recent study suggested that a more ‘localized’ public education and role-modeling from public officials and health authorities can help in building public trust. However, this needs a lot of clarification if applied in the current situation where education is fully executed online. The problem now lies in the country’s poor internet connectivity which greatly affects the online setup. This study then proposes that a house-to-house massive information campaign by local health care personnel which is led by a medical doctor to ensure a credible explanation of the entire procedure. In the same way, the idea of public officials as role-models seemed to be ineffective since there were already casualties linked to the vaccine. A consistent transparent approach is suggested in lieu of this which can prepare the country for a more defensive strategy to fight the pandemic.

Abstract Authoritarian leaders around the world often fight against corruption in an effort to win public support. Conventional wisdom holds that this strategy works because leaders can signal their benevolent intentions by removing corrupt officials. We argue that fighting against corruption can undermine regime support. By revealing scandals of corrupt officials, corruption investigations can alter citizens' beliefs about public officials and lead to disenchantment about political institutions. We test this argument by examining how China's current anti-corruption campaign has changed citizens' public support for the government and the Communist Party. We analyze the results of two original surveys conducted before and during the campaign, and employ a difference-in-differences strategy to show that corruption investigations, at the margin, suppress respondents' support for the central government and party. We also examine our respondents' prior and posterior beliefs, and the results support our updating mechanism.

Industrial human-robot collaboration (HRC) is not yet widely spread but on the rise. This development raises the question about properties collaborative robots (cobots) need, to enable a pleasant and smooth interaction. Therefore, this study investigated the influence of transparency and reliability on perception of and trust towards cobots. A video-enhanced online study with 124 participants was conducted. Transparency was provided through the presentation of differing information, and reliability was manipulated through differing error rates. The results showed a positive effect of transparency on perceived safety and intelligence. Reliability had a positive effect on perceived intelligence, likeability and trust. The effect of reliability on trust was more pronounced for low transparent robots. The results indicate the relevance of carefully selected information to counteract negative effects of failures. Future research should transfer the study design into a real-life experiment with more fine-grained levels of transparency and reliability.

Labor turnover in an illusionary capitalist economies of the 3rd world nations has been on the verge of eroding momentum in the last decade. Hence, the objective of this study is centered on the determination of adverse trend in the mono-cultural society. To determine the rate of influx of labor turnover using “TENDON SCALE” methodology, that will aid in establishing the evils of unemployment generated by it.To examine the advantages of labor turnover, if any, to the organization, as well as the general society, and to recommend a lasting solution that will curb the effects of LT, re-strengthen the labor relation laws of the advantage to the masses. The data collection is mostly based on primary sources as well as historical review of related literature was embarked upon to obtain a wider scope of coverage. Factual discussion was applied on time schedule on selected industries. A structured interview questionnaire was prepared consisting of (50) fifty in number tailored towards allowing individual respondents to expatiate his/her view on the rate of LT in his/her working place. The structured questionnaire was prepared in such away as to segmentize the labor structure/work force on functional basis in order to determine most affected segment of labor force of the organization. The analysis revealed that labor turnover is a hybrid of mono-cultural economy which begets the evils of unemployment ravaging the third world nations. A mono-cultural economy is one without alternative source of revenue, handicapped by vested interest of maraudours governance. A mono-cultural economy is characterized by ambiguity of approach due inconsistency in government policy and ideology, which has nothing to offer (survival of the fittest). When an economy is heavily dependent on one source of mainstay is described as mono-cultural society. Putting financial constraint apart, the study has been characterized by poor responses due to limited knowledge of the term labor turnover to the average worker.Labor laws in most third world nations are tailored to favor the employers rather than the employees, hence the actual cause/causes of LT cannot be ascertained based on responses from the employers and employees.Reasons for job satisfaction/unsatisfaction cannot be established due to the nature of labor laws that permits individual employer to determine the fate of the employees in his organization in mono-cultural economy. Data collection was handicapped by poor responses from the lower segment of the workforce that were restricted from having open interaction with outside visitor. Labor turnover should be a concern of the government for the benefit of its citizenship in all practical wisdom, but this is not the case in mono-cultural economy. It is a case of survival of the fittest, where a citizen is subjected to death penalty by labor laws which should have been in favor of the workforce. Mono-cultural governments are “banana” governments viable only to the survival of the fittest.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the shadow economy and public debt in Turkey. We elaborate on the questions regarding the negative effects of shadow economy on the sustainability of public debt observing the estimates about the size of shadow economy in Turkey. In the light of some scholars? estimates, we re-evaluate the macroeconomic situation of Turkey. At the core of the study, we discuss how the government borrowing policies would differ if the shadow economy was included into the legal system. In order to examine the effects of shadow economy on sustainability, we use various sustainability indicators. There is a significant difference observed between the calculations which take into account the volume of shadow economy as a share of economic system and those that exclude shadow economy as an exogenous variable. .
