The impact of merging the use of digital technologies and authentic material to language learning has received great attention. This article offers new insights in EFL into these possibilities. A case study was developed to investigate the role that learning pedagogies might play in supporting the development of language learning. The participants involved in this study were students at EFL classrooms at primary schools. From a range of different cultural backgrounds and language groups, the students participated in the lessons. The study examines the impact and effectiveness for developing additional languages and further work has focused on the affordances of digital technologies and authentic materials. Keywords: Digital technology, Authentic material, English as a Foreign Language (EFL).

This case study is about “Concentra”, started by an entrepreneur along with his wife and colleagues who were later the part of the management. They started by providing BPO for financial services, contact center services, loyalty and customer retention. They started from a small company with limited manpower but grow up into big company spreading in many countries in lesser span of time. As the BPO expands, the management came across many problems in the company. One of the main problems which they came across was the employee dissatisfaction which resulted into lower customer satisfaction. The impact was so bad that they started loosing their customers and their business. This case study explains how a company can increase customer’s satisfaction just by understanding and treating their employees as the first customers of the organization to be served.

Abstract Human exposure is a relevant factor when operating in critical environments and depends on a thorough analysis and consideration towards driving the teams to a safer and more productive environment. Reducing such exposure through digital technologies benefits the whole workforce in their decisions and maneuvers, like simulations, training, and other critical activities that can be executed remotely and prior to the actual activity. This paper presents a case study to demonstrate how augmented and virtual reality can be used to create a high fidelity virtual environment emulating the real industrial facility. This approach enriches the Digital Twin with the association of data and the virtual environment. It leverages on display and interaction capabilities of hardware devices, and intelligence and data querying capabilities of industrial software, empowering the workers with enhanced training capabilities and access to information increasing safety and efficiency. A real application of this technology is presented in this paper through the case study of the PredictMain4.0 project of Repsol Sinopec Brazil (RSB), which aimed at the integration of digital technologies, including augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The PredictMain4.0 project was executed using data and data models of PETROBRAS’ P-50, a FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) operating in Brazil, and illustrates how different AR/VR applications can be developed and used in combination with engineering, operation, and maintenance databases. This includes 3D models, digitalized critical procedures, and the ability to integrate field teams into a single virtual environment, allowing real interaction in a digital setting that is linked to the real world. Considering the digitalized procedures, this paper aims to establish how virtual simulation and training can make teams more confident and prepared to execute the same physical asset procedures. After consulting with stakeholders from many different teams, the PredictMain4.0 project team selected three critical operating modules in the FPSO (Power Generation, Water Injection, and Gas Compression). For each one, considered which situations were relevant, should they occur. These situations led to developing a training and simulation framework, allowing instructors to create different scenarios and use advanced features such as digital measurement, real-time data collection, and collaborative sessions. The case study indicates that the development of such applications can save more than $1 million per year in maintenance costs considering the decrease in downtime and avoiding risks of accident.

AbstractThis paper examines opportunities for language learning in a cleaning job, which is a typical entry-level job for immigrants. An ethnographic case study approach is taken to investigate examples of the conditions that allow or prevent language learning for the focal participant, a sub-Saharan man who works as a cleaner in Finland. This case illustrates on a micro-scale the impact of the new economy on a worker in a company that has outsourced its cleaning services. Theoretically and methodologically, the study applies van Lier’s (

Objective - This study aims to identify the impact of the application of the PSAK 69 in plantation companies in Riau, particularly in PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero), and the impact of PSAK 69 to the profit gained by PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero). Methodology/Technique - This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The approach used in this research is a case study. The object of this research is PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero). PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) is a company engaged in the field of palm oil plantations. This study uses the data from PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero)'s annual report in 2016 and the data is collected using interviews and documentation techniques. Findings - The results of this study indicate that PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) has not implemented the PSAK 69 in its agricultural business. In addition, there are differences in the measurement and recording of the biological assets applied by PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) under the PSAK 69 (IAS 41). PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) measures and records its biological assets based on historical cost, so there is no gain or loss in the current period. In addition, the profit gained by PTPN V for the year ending on 31 December 2016 is too low. Novelty - The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference for other plantation companies in implementing the PSAK 69. The nexus between digital technologies, engagement and learning is often cited as being correlational, but is widely misunderstood. Research is clear that engagement can lead to better academic outcomes and improved learning, but less clear about the role of digital technologies in engaging students and the impact of digital technologies on student learning. Recent research suggests that in light of the increase in digital technologies in education that we must recognize the inherent challenges in increased use of digital technologies. In this article a small-scale case study was conducted to ascertain the level of student engagement and distraction during lectures. The study was repeated for two different cohorts of teacher education students to establish consistency of results. The authors sought to determine the level of academic engagement by having students record the number of digital distractions they encountered throughout the lecture. The students self-reported their distractions during a ~100 min lecture. The researchers found consistency between the two cohorts when looking at the number of self-reported distractions per student. The findings suggest that technology was a major distraction and further could be seen, due to the number of distractions, to be causing disengagement. In this article the authors use this case study to start a conversation about the possible perils of digital technologies with regard to engagement and learning and what this means in a future that may be dictated by technology-enhanced learning.

Abstract Online promotion of wine products is a new but indispensable approach in all promotional activities initiated by companies and producers of wine, whereas there is a need for a greater focus on this specific market, not separated from the real one, but a new component, increasingly prevalent. The new market, where demand is getting bigger in our country and where consumers are becoming more and more faithful to this type of promotion, is the online environment, which generated, as a response from manufacturers and distributors in almost all food industry areas, online marketing. Promoting in the virtual environment follows the same stages of development as any promoting strategy from other environments of intersection with customers: initial research, market segmentation, setting goals, market positio-ning, marketing mix, implementation of the promotional campaign itself and the implementation and post implementation control. The key features of wine products online promoting is interactivity and socialization. Internet communication occurs in two directions, unlike traditional marketing, which is unidirectional. The other characteristic of virtual promotional methods - socialization characterizes the future of cyberspace. The research purpose is not to separate the new form of promotion of other forms of nonvirtual marketing activities, but to emphasize that online marketing is the component that should not be missing from any promotional cam-paign launched by a company. The research was based on information provided by the S.C. Cotnari S.A. Department of Marketing. In order to determine the characteristics of online communication and modern promoting trends, we analyzed the website and social media accounts of this wine producer, as well as news portals and blogs. Questionnaires were applied on a sample of 133 consumers, to analyze the impact on their use of online marketing. The studied sample consisted of consumers of wine and, most of them, Internet users, from urban or rural areas. Each questionnaire contained 16 questions, with a total of 63 variables, and aimed to compare the behavior of respondents towards online promotion activity of S.C. Cotnari S.A., Iaşi county.
