scholarly journals RESEARCH ON ATTITUDES AND PREFERENCES OF TOURISTS IN THE CITY OF BRASOV ON THE INTRODUCTION OF HYBRID TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

The research refers to the attitudes and preferences of Brasovian’s regarding the introduction of hybrid transport systems. Other studies carried out on this topic have helped us to understand the attitude and preferences of Brasovians when it comes to hybrid transport systems. These hybrid transport systems They are based on environmental assessment and meeting the needs of customers who call for these public transport services. The hypotheses are specific to the qualitative research, the formulation is made after the research goals have been defined and the conception with which we will work. The assumptions from which we started are that these hybrid systems have a good impact on the environment. The fact that the technology of hybrid vehicles or all electrics are gaining more ground in recent years. The research is of a qualitative type based on a questionnaire, carried out on a total number of subjects taking place in Brasov. Following the initiation of the questionnaire, we managed to reach the following conclusions, where more than half of our respondents consider that these hybrid transport systems make us - they would be very beneficial and at the same time would have been used by the tourists of Brasov, thinking about protecting the environment. Due to the fact that Brasov is a mountain town with high levels of extremely low temperatures during the winter, I thought that the first step to reduce pollution is the introduction of these hybrid transport systems. Hybrid buses have a low fuel consumption, saving about 30% of the fuel requirement of a normal diesel bus. Brasovians and tourists from the city of Brasov regarding these transport systems. In short, this art icol represents a good development and vision on Brasov as well as a good vision from the residents and those who visit Brasov

Abstract In this article the authors present the methodology adopted and the results obtained in the first stage of the research encompassing focus group interviews (FGI) about the needs of public transport users in a selected city (Poznań). The elicitation and assessment of the requirements were carried out for three groups of people with disabilities using public transport in the city of Poznań: blind and partially sighted people, deaf and hearing-impaired people, as well as people with locomotor dysfunctions. A study carried out on the basis of a scenario especially designed for the FGI purpose has made it possible to identify barriers for people with disabilities and, consequently, to formulate their pre-trip,on-trip and post-trip requirements when it comes to urban public transport services. The results will be used to construct a questionnaire to be used further on in the project.

Highly populated cities depend highly on intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) for reliable and efficient resource utilization and traffic management. Current transportation systems struggle to meet different stakeholder expectations while trying their best to optimize resources in providing various transport services. This paper proposes a Microservice-Oriented Big Data Architecture (MOBDA) incorporating data processing techniques, such as predictive modelling for achieving smart transportation and analytics microservices required towards smart cities of the future. We postulate key transportation metrics applied on various sources of transportation data to serve this objective. A novel hybrid architecture is proposed to combine stream processing and batch processing of big data for a smart computation of microservice-oriented transportation metrics that can serve the different needs of stakeholders. Development of such an architecture for smart transportation and analytics will improve the predictability of transport supply for transport providers and transport authority as well as enhance consumer satisfaction during peak periods.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a stochastic optimisation model for integrating service and maintenance policies in order to solve the queuing problem and the cost of maintenance activities for public transport services, with a particular focus on urban ropeway system. Design/methodology/approach The authors adopt the following approaches: a discrete-event model that uses a set of interrelated queues for the formulation of the service problem using a cost-based expression; and a maintenance model consisting of preventive and corrective maintenance actions, which considers two different maintenance policies (periodic block-type and age-based). Findings The work shows that neither periodic block-type maintenance nor an age-based maintenance is necessarily the best maintenance strategy over a long system lifecycle; the optimal strategy must consider both policies. Practical implications The maintenance policies are then evaluated for their impact on the service and operation of the transport system. The authors conclude by applying the proposed optimisation model using an example concerning ropeway systems. Originality/value This is the first study to simultaneously consider maintenance policy and operational policy in an urban aerial ropeway system, taking up the problem of queuing with particular attention to the unique requirements public transport services.

The article is devoted to the study of the attitude of Kazan residents to the prospect of not using a personal car as a means of transportation in the city. The aim of this study is to develop recommendations to popularize the idea of using public transport services of Kazan city residents on the basis of the analysis and its evaluation. To achieve the goal, the following main tasks were set and solved: a theoretical and empirical interpretation of the main concepts on the topic of the study; a comparative analysis of the volume of public costs from the use of a private car by residents of Kazan and their use of public transport services was carried out; the system of public transport in the city of Kazan was evaluated. The methodological tools of the study included a questionnaire survey and content analysis. As a result of the study, we found that at the moment there is indeed a problem within the city of Kazan, which consists in the impossibility of ensuring the universal transition of residents from the use of private cars to the consumption of public transport services, due to the lack of development of the relevant infrastructure.

The demand for public transport on the example of Lviv city is analyzed in the paper. The aim of the trip, the duration of the trip, vehicle occupancy rate, walking approach to the stop, and the choice of public transport mode are determined as the main impact factors. The questioning of 1100 users of public transport is carried out. During the formation of transport strategy of public transport system functioning in large cities, it is necessary to consider such factors of functioning as optimal, from the view of transport provision, location of places of work and study, trips are up to 45 min; vehicle occupation rate is up to 80% (on the most routes); the walking distance is up to 600 m; vehicles of large capacity. The provision of these indicators in transport systems will provide an opportunity to increase the effectiveness and enlarge the demand for public transport services as a result of qualitative functioning.

The aim of this paper is to determine, based on conducted marketing research, the level of passenger satisfaction with public transport services for the purpose of making better marketing decisions in the example of the City of Belgrade. The main task is to test the hypothesis on the existence of significant influence of factors, such as quality service, attitude and behaviour of employees (e.g. driver), adequate informing, quality of vehicles, line routes and timetable, on passenger satisfaction. Correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used for interpreting the obtained results and examining the formulated hypothesis. Empirical research has shown that there is a significant correlation between the aforementioned factors and passenger satisfaction with public transport services. The obtained results provided recommendations and guidelines for improving and increasing the quality of public transport services. The research results also provide the basis for future research that could examine the relationship between passenger satisfaction with services and sub-groups within the analyzed factors.

The paper identifies the main problems with parking in Kiev and their causes, analyzes the European experience in organizing a parking system according to the Park & Ride principle, identifies the main goals and principles for designing the intercepting parking for the implementation of this system, and also studies the feasibility of such car parks in Kiev (an experiment to determine the total time spent by passengersresidents of Boyarka when they move in the morning «peak» periods to the central part of Kiev). Object of the study – the general methodological provisions for organizing intercepting parking (Park & Ride systems) and organizing combined trips (individual and public transport) using the intercepting parking at the «Ipodrom» metro station (Glushkov Avenue) in Kiev. Subject of the study – the process of moving passengers-residents of the Boyarka city in the morning periods of «peak» in the central part of the city of Kiev. As shown by the results of the experiment, the use of public transport (metro) to travel around Kiev as an alternative to individual transport allows passengers to reduce time and, more importantly, significantly increase the guarantee of timeliness of travel. In addition, moving along the route of the Boyarka – Kyiv city according to a combined scheme (using public transport when driving around the city, regardless of the area of location), will be economically advantageous. The organization in Kiev of a network of intercepting car parks at the end stations of metro lines («Teremki», «Lisova», «Chervony Khutir» and «Syrets») in combination with other measures (for example, restricting parking on the streets in the city center, introducing parking throughout the city center, a reliable metro network, as well as an improved view / supply of public transport services) will help to reduce the flow of individual cars on the radial trunk streets and in the center of Kiev. KEYWORDS: PARKING SYSTEM, CENTRAL PART, INTERCEPTIVE PARKING, PARK & RIDE SYSTEM, INDIVIDUAL CAR, PUBLIC TRANSPORT, COMBINED TRIP, TIME COSTS
