Solutions that allow developers to create application for different mobile systems in which they can share whole source code or large parts of it are becoming more popular. This article compares the performance of Android-based mobile application created with the default and multiplatform tools. Authors on selected examples examine performance in various aspects of the application.

Проведен анализ технологий мобильной медицины, используемых для повышения качества оказания медицинской помощи. На основе анализа уязвимостей мобильных станций (смартфонов, планшетов, смарт устройств, различных периферийных устройств смартфонов и т.п.), технологий предоставления доступа к интернет для мобильных систем (используемые в сетях сотовой связи, беспроводного доступа), а также мобильных сервисов медицинских информационных систем предложена классификация угроз мобильной медицины и проведен анализ возможностей по реализации этих угроз. Целью работы является разработка актуальной модели угроз безопасности мобильной медицины, проведение исследований по оценке полноты и непротиворечивости применяемых в настоящее время средств защиты мобильных систем, таких как менеджер мобильных устройств, менеджер мобильных приложений, магазин доверенных мобильных приложений, шлюз безопасности мобильных приложений и др. В статье рассматриваются источники угроз, уязвимости технологий мобильной медицины, каналы воздействия угроз, объекты воздействия и возникающие ущербы от реализации угроз, характерные для мобильных технологий и имеющие отличные от традиционных точки приложения реализаций угроз и векторы. Проведен анализ контекста применения мобильной медицины и влияния на процессы предоставления медицинских услуг The analysis of mobile medicine technologies used to improve the quality of medical care. Based on the analysis of vulnerabilities of mobile stations (Smartphone's, tablets, smart devices, various peripheral devices of Smartphone's, etc.), technologies for providing Internet access for mobile systems (used in cellular networks, wireless access), as well as mobile medical information services systems, the classification of threats to mobile medicine is proposed, and an analysis of the possibilities for implementing these threats is carried out. The aim of the work is to develop an up-to-date model of threats to the security of mobile medicine, to conduct studies to assess the completeness and consistency of currently used protection systems for mobile systems, such as a mobile device manager, mobile application manager, trusted mobile application store, mobile application security gateway, etc. The article discusses the sources of threats, vulnerabilities of technologies of mobile medicine, the channels of exposure to threats, the objects of exposure and the resulting damage from the implementation of threats that are characteristic of mobile technologies and have different applications of threat implementations and vectors. The analysis of the context of the use of mobile medicine and the impact on the processes of providing medical services is carried out

JavaScript has become more and more popular in recent years because its wealthy features as being dynamic, interpreted and object-oriented with first-class functions. Furthermore, JavaScript is designed with event-driven and I/O non-blocking model that boosts the performance of overall application especially in the case of Node.js. To take advantage of these characteristics, many design patterns that implement asynchronous programming for JavaScript were proposed. However, choosing a right pattern and implementing a good asynchronous source code is a challenge and thus easily lead into less robust application and low quality source code. Extended from our previous works on exception handling code smells in JavaScript and exception handling code smells in JavaScript asynchronous programming with promise, this research aims at studying the impact of three JavaScript asynchronous programming patterns on quality of source code and application.

The coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has a direct and indirect effect on the different healthcare systems around the world. In this study, we aim to describe the impact on the utilization of emergency medical services (EMS) in Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 pandemic. We studied cumulative data from emergency calls collected from the SRCA. Data were separated into three periods: before COVID-19 (1 January–29 February 2020), during COVID-19 (1 March–23 April 2020), and during the Holy Month of Ramadan (24 April–23 May 2020). A marked increase of cases was handled during the COVID-19 period compared to the number before pandemic. Increases in all types of cases, except for those related to trauma, occurred during COVID-19, with all regions experiencing increased call volumes during COVID-19 compared with before pandemic. Demand for EMS significantly increased throughout Saudi Arabia during the pandemic period. Use of the mobile application ASAFNY to request an ambulance almost doubled during the pandemic but remained a small fraction of total calls. Altered weekly call patterns and increased call volume during the pandemic indicated not only a need for increased staff but an alteration in staffing patterns.

The overlap between one innovative paradigm (P4 medicine: predictive, personalized, participatory and preventive) and another (a new definition of “Healthy ageing”) is fertile ground for new technologies; a new mobile application (app) that could broaden our scientific knowledge of the ageing process and help us to better analyse the impact of possible interventions in slowing the ageing decline. A novel mobile application is here presented as a game including questions and tests will allow in 10 minutes the assessment of the following domains: robustness, flexibility (lower muscle strength), balance, mental and memory complaints, semantic memory and visual retention. This game is completed by specific measurements, which could allow establishing precise information on functional and cognitive abilities. A global evaluation precedes advice and different types of exercises. The repetition of the tests and measures will allow a long follow up of the individual performances which could be shared (on specific request) with family members and general practitioners.

BACKGROUND Mobile health applications provide a promising avenue to help mitigate the burden on mental health services by complimenting therapist-led treatments for anxiety. However, it remains unclear how specific systems' use of application components (i.e., tools) may be associated with changes in clinical symptomatology (i.e., anxiety, worry). OBJECTIVE This study was a secondary analysis of systems usage data from the Stage I randomized controlled trial testing the impact of the Unwinding Anxiety mobile application among adults with GAD. This secondary analysis was conducted to assess how using specific application tools may be associated with improvements in anxiety, worry, emotional regulation, and interoceptive awareness. METHODS We present analyses of the intervention group (i.e., those who received the Unwinding Anxiety program) during the Stage 1 trial. Total use of specific mobile application tools (i.e., ecological tools, meditation practices, educational modules) as well use specific to each tool (e.g., stress meter, lovingkindness meditation practice) were calculated. We utilized multivariate linear models to investigate the effect of total use of these tools on anxiety, worry, interoceptive awareness, emotional regulation at 2-months post-program initiation controlling for baseline scores, age, and education level. In addition, associations between systems usage metrics and baseline participant characteristics were assessed for differences in usage groupings. RESULTS The sample was primarily female (n=25; 92.6%) and the average age was 42.9 years old (SD=15.6) and educational module completion, the central intervention component, averaged 20.2 + 11.4 modules out of XXX for the total sample. Multivariate models revealed that completing >75% of the program was associated with an average 22.6-point increase in interoceptive awareness (SE=8.32, p=0.013) and an 11.6-point decrease in worry (SE=4.12, p=0.009). In addition, a single log unit change in total number of meditations was associated with a 0.95-point reduction in GAD-7 scores (SE=0.27, p=0.005) while a single log unit use of the stress meter was associated with an average of a 0.5-point increase in emotional regulation scores (FFMQ) (SE=0.21, p=0.027). CONCLUSIONS The work presented offers a clearer understanding of the impact of specific mobile app systems use on mental health outcomes. In addition, this research lays the groundwork for future comprehensive investigations of systems usage in dosing studies for health behavior change. Scaffolding is often an essential step in a genome assembly process,in which contigs are ordered and oriented using read pairs from a combination of paired-ends libraries and longer-range mate-pair libraries. Although a simple idea, scaffolding is unfortunately hard to get right in practice. One source of problem is so-called PE-contamination in mate-pair libraries, in which a non-negligible fraction of the read pairs get the wrong orientation and a much smaller insert size than what is expected. This contamination has been discussed in previous work on integrated scaffolders in end-to-end assemblers such as Allpaths-LG and MaSuRCA but the methods relies on the fact that the orientation is observable, \emph{e.g.}, by finding the junction adapter sequence in the reads. This is not always the case, making orientation and insert size of a read pair stochastic. Furthermore, work on modeling PE-contamination has so far been disregarded in stand-alone scaffolders and the effect that PE-contamination has on scaffolding quality has not been examined before. We have addressed PE-contamination in an update of our scaffolder BESST. We formulate the problem as an Integer Linear Program (ILP) and use characteristics of the problem, such as contig lengths and insert size, to efficiently solve the ILP using a linear amount (with respect to the number of contigs) of Linear Programs. Our results show significant improvement over both integrated and standalone scaffolders. The impact of modeling PE-contamination is quantified by comparison with the previous BESST model. We also show how other scaffolders are vulnerable to PE-contaminated libraries, resulting in increased number of misassemblies, more conservative scaffolding, and inflated assembly sizes. This Major Research Project (MRP) aims to investigate the impact of the on-demand economy, millennials’ digital habits, and the emergence of super apps on the restaurant-finding process. Currently, restaurant-goers are presented with multiple specialty applications to complete different tasks when evaluating restaurants. The current process of deciding on a restaurant is both time-consuming and inefficient. This project aims to propose a solution to this problem in the form of an early-stage super app called Palate. Palate is a mobile application that aims to streamline the process of discovering restaurants from the moment a restaurant-goer begins their search to the moment they confirm a reservation. This paper will discuss design principles, theories of the on-demand economy, restaurant-goers digital habits, super apps and the rationale for designing a restaurant super app interface.

There is a growing trend in building deep learning patient representations from health records to obtain a comprehensive view of a patient’s data for machine learning tasks. This paper proposes a reproducible approach to generate patient pathways from health records and to transform them into a machine-processable image-like structure useful for deep learning tasks. Based on this approach, we generated over a million pathways from FAIR synthetic health records and used them to train a convolutional neural network. Our initial experiments show the accuracy of the CNN on a prediction task is comparable or better than other autoencoders trained on the same data, while requiring significantly less computational resources for training. We also assess the impact of the size of the training dataset on autoencoders performances. The source code for generating pathways from health records is provided as open source.

A survey was conducted to assess the impact of mobile applications developed by theKrishiVigyan Kendra Banavasi with 150 farmers in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh inthe year 2020. KVK Banavasi developed three mobile applications namely ANGRAU-ATARI CFLD, ANGRAU Pashu Poshan and Fertilizer Calculator for benefiting farmingcommunity. Majority (64.67%) of the respondents were found in medium usage of mobileapplications, in agriculture. Fertilizer Calculator mobile application was found highest usage(74.50%) among the farmers when compared with other two applications. ANGRAUATATRI CFLD application was used by an average of 46.83 per cent farmers forinformation on new improved varieties, 75 % for control measures of pest and diseasesand 29 per cent for market related information. ANGRAU Pashu Poshan application wasused by 75 per cent livestock farmers for sheep management, 56 per cent for cattlemanagement and 45 per cent for poultry related information. Fertilizer calculator applicationwas used by 80 per cent farmers for recommended dose of fertilizers and 10 per cent forsoil test based fertilizer application.
