The research was conducted in four rivermouths surrounding city of Manado. The first location is Bahu rivermouth, second location is Sario rivermouth, third location is Jengki rivermouth and the fourth location is Bailang rivermouth. Objectives of this study were to reveal the composition of phytoplankton and its ecological indices in those four rivermouths.Method used was considered as descriptive and explorative study. Plankton net with 60 µm mesh size used for samples collection. The volume of water on the cod end was 50 ml which then  brought into the laboratory for further identification and density calculation.Fourtyfive in total of phytoplankton species identified on those four rivermouths comprise of 23 marine species and 22 freshwater species. The highest density value (5.99 individu/l) was found in Jengki rivermouth while the lowest found in Bahu rivermouth (0.65 individu/l). Those four rivermouths have diversity index ranging from 0.94 to 2.03 that considered high. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui jenis-jenis fitoplankton di keempat muara sungai di Kota Manado kawasan Teluk Manado dan mengetahui kepadatan spesies dan indeks ekologis fitoplankton di keempat muara sungai tersebut.            Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan eksploratif. Sampling plankton menggunakan plankton net ukuran 60 µm. Air yang tersaring dan tertampung di cod end  sebanyak 50 ml kemudian diidentifikasi dan dihitung kepadatannya.Diperoleh 45 spesies fitoplankton di empat muara tersebut terbagi atas 23 spesies air laut dan 22 spesies air tawar, dengan kepadatan tertinggi sebesar 5,99 ind/l yang terdapat pada muara Jengki dan kepadatan terendah sebesar 0,65 ind/l terdapat pada muara Bahu. Keempat muara tersebut memiliki indeks keanekaragaman 0,94-2,03 yang berarti memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman yang tinggi. Angka ini juga menunjukan bahwa pada daerah ini tidak ada spesies yang terlalu mendominansi suatu wilayah.Kata kunci: Fitoplankton, Muara sungai, Teluk Manado

This paper reports on the phytoplankton community, its composition, structure and distribution in Changjiang estuary from February 1999 to March 2000. Two hundred and eight species were identified in the dry and flood periods. Diatoms, with 143 species observed, was the most abundant phytoplankton group, accounting for 68.75% of the total phytoplankton species number. Skeletonema costatum was dominant among all the species. The phytoplankton of Changjiang estuary in China was divided into five ecological categories: freshwater species, estuary brackish water species, inshore low salinity species, inshore widespread species and off-sea high salinity species. During the dry period, the major phytoplankton populations in the surface layer were estuary inshore and offshore populations, distinguished from the composition of the bottom layer. The community structure was similar in the two layers during the flood period. The phytoplankton species diversity was calculated for Simpson, Shannon–Weaver diversity and evenness indices, and found to be higher in the dry period, due to the simple dominant species and low spatial heterogeneity in the flood period. Higher phytoplankton abundance was observed in the surface layer during the flood period. The phytoplankton species distribution, coinciding with the dominant species distribution, varied with salinity, and their abundance correlated significantly with nutrients and light.

The activities of the community around the peat swamp forest cause disruption of the ecosystem from the sustainability of the forest area's resources. Land clearing and peatland fires also affect the presence of ferns. The new environmental conditions due to changes in land cover cause ferns to be affected by these changes. Kuala Dua Village Kubu Raya Regency has secondary peat swamp forest and open peat land due to fires 3-4 years earlier so it is overgrown with a variety of new types of flora, one of which is a type of fern. The objective of the study is to describe species diversity of ferns and their site conditions in secondary peat swamp forests and open peatlands of Kuala Dua Village, Kubu Raya District. This research was conducted with survey method using multiple plot samples. The plots determination was done by purposive sampling which was taken place on the site where there were many species of ferns land. Three plots were on each land covered condition with a plot size of 5 m x 5 m that divided into 25 of a 1 m x 1 m sub plots. The results show that 5 species of ferns found in peat swamp forest and 4 species of ferns were found on open peatlands. The species that has the highest INP value in the forest was Asplenium belangeri and the species that has the INP value in open peatland was Nephrolefis falcata. Dominant Index, Spesies Diversity Index and Spesies Abudance Index were 0,12 and 0,18; 0,30 and 0,36; 0,51 and 0,52 on the forest and open peatland respectively. The Similarity Index value (IS) of ferns in secondary peat swamp forest and open peatland is 44%. The study shows dissimility of species fern in peat swamp forests and open peatlands.Keywords: Open peatland, Pteridophyta, secondary peat swamp forest

This study aimed to know the influence of planting the flowering plants in sugarcane plantation on the index value of diversity, domination, and the eveness of phytophage and entomophage insect species in sugarcane plantation. This study was done on two-month and six-month sugarcane of PT.  Perkebunan Nusantara VII Cinta Manis District. The research location is located in Ketiau Village, Lubuk Keliat District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The study was conducted from July to December 2018. Insects that came to flowering plants were collected by using fitfall traps, nets, and direct capture of insects that came. The results showed that the age of sugarcane affected the diversity of Entomophage and Phytophage insect species that came to the flowering plants. At 2-moth-old sugar cane plantations were found 42 species (388 individuals) and 6-month-old sugarcane plantations were found 41 species (284 individuals). The diversity of Phytophage and Entomophage species that came to flowering plants in  the 2-month-old sugarcane plantations was almost the same as in the 6-month-old sugarcane plantations. Phytopage species diversity index values were 2,826 and 2,548, while Entomophage were 2,564 and 2,867.

The research was conducted in the Bukit Senja City Forest Area, Middle Singkawang  District, Singkawang City. The purpose of the research was to find out diversity of forest vegetation in the city forest and vegetation which dominate the forest. The research was carried out for ± 4 weeks in the field and continued to analysis data. Method used in the research is direct observation through the analysis of vegetation in the field by using a line of paved paths made in a direction perpendicular to the contour with 4 lines each path = 500m with lane 1 as many as 25 plots, lane 2 as many as 25 plots, lane 3 as many 19 plots and lanes 4 of 25 plots. Based on analysis on data there were dominant trees which filled the forest based on INP seed, namely Durian 78.828%, Karet 53.480% and Jelatung 22.81%. According to the type of tillers namely Karet 34.58%, Durian 26.02%, and Simpur 23.97%. From the quantitative analysis it showed that be seen that in the index value dominant  (C) of a species is <1, which means the kind of go contained in the research is varies not only is controlled by one kind of. Diversity Type (H ') is in the group <1 which means it has a moderate Diversity Index (1 <H' <3). Abundant index (e) results show that the value of E => 0.6, which means that the type of abundant is high.Keywords: Bukit Senja Singkawang middle, City Forest, Vegetation Species Diversity

<p>Plants that have a wide range of insect presence, decreased insect diversity and abundance were so few consequenced because the absence of one insect species can be replaced by the presence of another. The bad consequences that occur are the types of plants that have specific insect specificities because the absence of these insects will cause the failure of plant pollination and will directly cause a decrease in crop production. This study aimed to determine the diversity of insect species that come in the soybean-tithonia intercropping. The method was used direct observation in tithonia-soybean intercropping, took insects using a sweep net in the morning. The results showed that there were 15 types of insects identified, namely <em>Epilachna</em> sp.; <em>Coccinella</em> <em>sexmaculata</em>; <em>Coccinella</em> <em>transveralis</em>; <em>Verania lineata; Ropalidia fasciata; Priocnemis</em> sp.; <em>Naupactus leucoloma; Piezodorus guildinii</em>; <em>Bemicia</em> <em>tabaci; Agromyza phaseoli; Spodoptera</em> sp.; <em>Nezara viridula; Paederus fusipes; Hylaeus</em> sp.; and <em>Trigona</em> sp. The range of results of the calculation of the diversity index showed that the five treatments in intercropping plants had the same abundance. So it was needed to calculate the highest diversity index value or maximum H expressed in Ln S. The maximum H value in this study is 2.708, which is a measure of moderate species diversity (1&lt;H’&lt;3).</p>

In this study, it is aimed to determine the zooplankton and species diversity of Dedeyolu Pond. Zooplankton samples were taken from 3 stations in monthly periods between May 2011 and April 2012. In the research, 17 species belonging to Rotifera, 6 species belonging to Cladocera and 2 species belonging to Copepoda were identified in Dedeyolu Pond. Among all zooplankton, it was represented Rotifera with 81%, Cladocera with 14% and Copepoda with 5%. Species diversity reached its highest value in April (H'=2.34) in the 3rd station, and the Margalef species richness index value reached its highest value in the first station (D=3.84) in October. There were a strong positive correlation between the number of individuals and the temperature in Dedeyolu Pond (r=0.674), a weak positive relationship between the number of individuals and the pH value (r=0.370), and a weak positive relationship between the number of individuals and the dissolved oxygen value (r=0.290). Keratella cochlearis species was recorded as the dominant species in all seasons in the pond.

Three different habitats: secondary forest, acacia plantation, and mixed forests on limestone, were chosen to determine and compare the ant species diversity in these habitats. A total of 24 identified species and 11 morphology species belonging to 20 genera in seven subfamilies were collected using pitfall traps from June 2014 to May 2015. The Shannon-Wiener’s species diversity index indicated that the diversity was the highest in the acacia plantation (2.08), followed by the secondary forest (1.99) and lowest in the mixed forests on limestone (1.83). There are three dominant species in the habitat (I), Pheidole noda, Odontomachus cf. monticola, and Odontoponera denticulate; four dominant species in the habitat (II), Odontoponera denticulata, Carebara diversa, Technomyrmex brunneus and Anoplolepis gracilipes; and only one dominant species in the habitat (III), Anoplolepis gracilipes. The species similarity (S) relatively low may be because of the difference vegetation and condition in the three habitats. Đa dạng loài kiến ​​trong ba môi trường sống khác nhau: rừng rậm thường xanh nhiệt đới, rừng keo và rừng hỗn giao trên núi đá vôi, được nghiên cứu để xác định và so sánh sự đa dạng các loài kiến ​​trong những môi trường sống. Phương pháp nghiên cứu: sử dụng bẫy hố từ tháng 6 năm 2014 đến tháng 5 năm 2015. Đã ghi nhận được 35 loài, thuộc 20 giống, 7 phân họ. Chỉ số đa dạng loài Shannon-Wiener cho thấy rừng keo có chỉ số đa dạng cao nhất (2,08), tiếp theo là rừng rậm thường xanh nhiệt đới (1,99) và cuối cùng là rừng hỗn giao trên núi đá vôi (1,83). Có 3 loài ưu thế ở sinh cảnh (I) là Pheidole noda, Odontomachus cf. monticola và Odontoponera denticulata, bốn loài ưu thế ở sinh cảnh (II) là Carebara diversa, Technomyrmex brunneus, Odontoponera denticulate và Anoplolepis gracilipes. Ở sinh cảnh (III) chỉ có duy nhất một loài chiếm ưu thế là loài Anoplolepis gracilipes. Chỉ số tương đồng (S) tương đối thấp có thể là do sự khác nhau ở các thảm thực vật và điều kiện sống trong ba sinh cảnh.

The study was conducted at the Shatt Al-Arab River at Ktiban creek  in three stations during the period from October 2017 to September 2018. The first station was in the Shatt Al-Arab near Al- Hartha power Station, the second and third stations were in the Ktiban creek. Samples were collected once a monthly. A total of 5106 fish were collected from the study, period included 24 species belong to 12 families, and consisted of eight marine species and 16 freshwater species (nine native and seven exotic species). Physical and chemical characteristics were measured during sampling period. water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, light penetration, salinity, current flow, total dissolve solid (TDS), nitrate, nitrite and phosphates The range of parameters  in the Shatt Al-Arab were within their normal levels except salinity values and TDS (8.7 PSU and 8210 mg /l respectively). The values of the diversity index (H) were calculated in the study stations between 1.06 -1.87 and evenness index (j) ranged from 0.42 -0.83and richness index(D) between 1.00 -2.62.

Abstract. Syukur A, Zulkifli L, Idrus AA, Hidayati BN. 2021. Species diversity of seagrass-associated bivalves as an ecological parameter to support seagrass conservation along with the Coastal Waters of South Lombok, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 5133-5144. Seagrass has a role in supporting the survival of marine life, such as bivalves. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between bivalve species diversity as a parameter for seagrass conservation. The research approach was through observation and data collection for seagrass and bivalves using quadrant and transect methods—Analysis of the data through descriptive statistical analysis, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. The number of seagrass species in the six research sites was nine. Furthermore, the species composition of bivalves consisted of 11 families comprising 47 species. The ANOVA results showed a significant difference based on the F-count value, higher than the F-table value of the three ecological indices (H', E, and Ki). Two ecological indices, namely H' and Ki, have r values ??less than 0.5 for all environmental parameters (temperature, brightness, pH, salinity, DO, phosphate, and nitrate) and show no significant correlation. However, the E index value has an r value greater than 0.5 for nitrate, salinity DO, and phosphate. The highest significance value of the four environmental variables is for nitrate, with an r = 0.875. The conclusion is that the richness and abundance of seagrass-associated bivalves in the study area are predetermined by the characteristics of the seagrass environment, especially the substrate. Secondly, seagrasses could create a suitable substrate for bivalves to survive. Therefore, the indicator of the presence of associated Bivalvia species can be a parameter for local scale seagrass conservation at the study site.

Taman Hutan Raya Wan Abdul Rachman (Tahura WAR) is a protected forest area and habitat for various types of plants and animals. Tahura WAR is an area that has a high diversity of ferns, ferns are quite heterogeneous plants both in terms of habitat and way of life, ferns are one group of vascular plants that have a fairly high number of species, live in nature, some are attached to tree trunk (epiphyte) or grow on the ground. This research was carried out in the utilization block of Sumber Agung, which focused on fern species diversity, diversity, dominant species, and descriptions of types of ferns. This research was carried out by direct observation based on the existence of all types of ferns that are considered to represent the place. Based on observations in general, ferns are composed of 37 species, 28 genera, and 14 families. The highest number of ferns is Polypodiaceae with 8 species. With the Shannon-Wienner (H') diversity index of H’= 2.9. Type N. acutifolia dominates this research area with an INP value of 25.8%.
