Among the partners of the UNESCO Chair The Ocean’s Cultural Heritage are CHAM and IPC (Cape Verde) which defined as essential action the underwater archaeological site inventory of that archipelago. This action started in 2018 as part of the European project CONCHA, that aims to address the different ways that port cities developed around the Atlantic during the early modern era. CONCHA’s surveys were conducted on the island of Santiago, in Ribeira Grande anchorage, in São Francisco (17th century) and in Urânia shipwrecks (1809). The project included the underwater survey, a review of the documentation and of the archaeological materials, recovered from the sites, at the Museum of Archaeology in Praia. Dissemination and training activities were also carried out. This paper systematizes the results of these works.

Iron-containing earth minerals of various hues were the earliest pigments of the prehistoric artists who dwelled in caves. Being a prominent part of human expression through art, nature-derived pigments have been used in continuum through ages until now. Studies reveal that the primitive artist stored or used his pigments as color cakes made out of skin or reeds. Although records to help understand the technical details of Indian painting in the early periodare scanty, there is a certain amount of material from which some idea may be gained regarding the methods used by the artists to obtain their results. Considering Indian wall paintings, the most widely used earth pigments include red, yellow, and green ochres, making it fairly easy for the modern era scientific conservators and researchers to study them. The present knowledge on material sources given in the literature is limited and deficient as of now, hence the present work attempts to elucidate the range of earth pigments encountered in Indian wall paintings and the scientific studies and characterization by analytical techniques that form the knowledge background on the topic. Studies leadingto well-founded knowledge on pigments can contribute towards the safeguarding of Indian cultural heritage as well as spread awareness among conservators, restorers, and scholars.

Coffee is called Kopi in both Indonesia and Malaysia. It was said to be introduced to these two countries during the period of colonisation. Various studies (i.e., Robelt McStocker, 1987; Jeff Neilson & Felicity Shonk, 2014; Cheryl Chang & Ian McGonigle, 2020) have discussed the coffee industries, coffee consumption and political economy of livelihood opportunities in these coffee-producing regions. In her book titled, "Coffee Culture: Local Experiences, Global Connections", Tucker (2010) asserts that "coffee is a material substance, but culture infuses with social and symbolic meanings" (p. 6). Both Indonesia and Malaysia demonstrate their own patterns of appreciation on coffee culture and cultural heritage in digital formats in a modern setting. According to Jambunathan (2019), upward mobility in coffee-business families in these regions is playing a role, as well-educated younger generations have successfully propelled new technique and advance application on numerous aspects of coffee business.
