Young generation nowadays has lack of knowledge on the culture of shadow puppet (wayang kulit) which is a heritage that has a high value of art and philosophy. This is caused by the impact of foreign cultures rapidly entering Indonesia. The rapid development of the information technology through internet & game has led to globalization that seems to be not limited to space and time. The speed of information and foreign cultures cannot be stopped. The culture of shadow puppet (wayang kulit) is getting eroded and is not much known by the modern society nowadays. This is an irony to a big nation which has a rich heritage, so it is our obligation as a citizen to maintain and preserve it. Based on the formulae of AIGA 2015 that defines (time + content + context) / time = experience design, the game of wayang kulit (shadow puppet) Gatotkaca put forbattled different experience to users in exploring the information and entertainment in those media. Having the spirit of moderate Postmodernism, the design plan called User Interface which combines the modern and classic traditional elements will encourage new experience to the users (Experience Design). The design recognizes times and trends, and it keeps changing as the development of the times. The design can be a pace setter to next individuals who are called to maintain and preserve national cultures, in general, and wayang kulit purwa, in particular, through digital media. The development in the modern era will not change the identity of shadow puppet (wayang kulit) culture since it has solid foundation.

In this modern era marked by the discovery of advanced technology, it requires a creative young generation, so that they can compete in accordance with the demands of the times. One of the areas of creativity that gets that place is creativity in creating films. Films can be used as a place to express feelings, as well as be used as a product promotion or area where the film's work is produced. This fact is strengthened by the increasing inclusion of social media such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram which provide video media in their content. To produce good film work requires a process of putting into practice the theories of filmmaking. With this film-making training, at least the members of the Matan Theater can get to know more closely what film is and can practice making good and correct films at the same time.

The rapid development of information technologies in the formation of online or digital environments has a significant impact on the transformation of society contributing to the development of Smart society. This is largely due to the formation of a Smart environment based on the introduction of new technologies. In changing the patterns of social life, these new technologies require and stimulate the transformation of social norms and values. For example, simplified communication between people, expressed in the transfer of instant messages through mobile applications (messengers) gains popularity. Such messages replace verbal communication through mobile devices. The use of modern digital technologies contributes to developing new characteristics of activities, for example, multitasking, which is expressed in the ability to conduct several conversations and perform several actions in parallel. The aim of this study is to find the main trends and differences, and predict the behavior patterns of different age groups in the process of forming a Digital society. Changes can happen swiftly or slowly, in part determined by the speed of release of new information products. There is a latent transformation of generations’ existence in modern society from natural to imposed forced skills against the backdrop of these technological transformations. This paper aims to observe the presence of the Hip Hop Puppet in the middle of the Yogyakarta community which is developing quite dynamically. Talcott Parsons’s theory of social action and Derrida’s deconstruction theory is used as a theoretical framework to explain the presence of this Hip Hop Puppet. The theory was chosen because the Hip Hop Puppet was created by Ki Catur Kuncoro by fusing two cultures and simultaneously deconstructing the pure shadow puppets that were present first. Hip Hop puppets were created to meet the needs of today’s young generation. The Hip Hop Puppet was created by Ki Catur Kuncoro with the aim that the young generation does not lose their cultural roots and at the same time still be able to keep up with the times. In addition, the Hip Hop Puppet is intended as an alternative media to convey criticism and proof that traditional culture can be aligned with modern culture. The acceptance of the Hip Hop Puppet as a spectacle that attracts audiences from all walks of life, proves that there is a cultural change in the middle of the social life of the people of Yogyakarta.

The article discusses the forms and ways of the impact of modern digital media on people, groups, and society as a whole. The unilateral communication effect on a person is emphasized. The accent is made on the transmission model of information dissemination, taking into account the formation of its ritualized form. The author pays his particular attention to the status and role of an individual in interaction with mass media; provides arguments about the exclusion of a person from the communication dimension. The activity of modern digital media structures is substantiated as social constructors of reality. The researcher shows the technological and visual possibilities of mass media in the creation of artificial, illusory simulated models of the world perceived by a person as objective, authentic, and real. Mass media are presented as an integral social institution of modern society, operating autonomously, based on its own rules and norms, technological and content principles, conditions of network communication, digitalization, and mediatization of society. The article presents the concepts of theoretical comprehension of mass media as a self-sufficient autopoietic system of N. Luhmann, and consideration of media communication implementation as a non-communication of J. Baudrillard. The author stresses the role of spectacle and visuality in the process of TV influence on the subjects, in the construction of images and models of the world, comparable with the already available information consumers pictures of the world. The contradictory and ambiguous conceptual assessments of the activity and influence of mass media on the modern man are emphasized.
