Abstract The paper presents a comparative analysis of the effect of selected design features of blade and disc units on the functional characteristics of the process of grinding corn stalks in specific ranges of input variables. The effect of changes in the geometric features of the working units and rotational speeds on the energy demand during the grinding process was estimated. On this basis, an assessment of the quality of the shredding product in terms of shape and size was also made.

Abstract The authors present a comparative analysis of presentation of build-up areas with conventional symbols on 60 civil European topographic maps. The above-mentioned maps are in different scales, from 1:10,000 to 1:100,000, and have been published in nineteen European countries and the autonomous community of Catalonia. The analysis has proved that the scope of characteristics of build-up areas presented on the analysed maps was very diverse, from qualitative and quantitative point of view (e.g. there were between 2 and 25 different categories on 1:10,000 maps). The 1:10,000 and 1:50,000 maps generally contain more information on the characteristics of build-up areas than 1:25,000 maps. The characteristics themselves are also very diversified (e.g. only 6 of them appear on more than half of the analysed maps – most often churches). Polish maps stand out due to the fact that they contain particularly rich and consistent representation of both physiognomic characteristics and general functional characteristics of buildings and build-up areas at all the analysed scales.

Throughout history, human interdependence has been manifested through various forms of housing typologies that imply some form of coexistence of unrelated persons. The two alternative housing typologies that are quite common in more developed countries today, cohousing and coliving, attract a lot of attention of both architects and scientists. Scholars are still actively dealing with determining the motives and the clear typological definition of these two typologies. Following a review of the basic characteristics through a historical overview and contemporary works of the two mentioned residential typologies, this paper presents a comparative analysis of their basic spatial and functional characteristics. The presented examples and characteristics can serve as a basis for further research, understanding and defining cohousing and coliving housing typologies.

The article provides an overview of the most popular cloud services, in particular those which have their complete office suites, the basic functional characteristics and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of cloud services in the educational process. It was made a comparative analysis of the spreadsheets that are in office suites such cloud services like Zoho Office Suite, Microsoft Office 365 and Google Docs. On the basis of the research and the findings it was suggested the best cloud services for use in the educational process. The possibility of using spreadsheets in the study of logic, from creating formulas that implement logical operations, the creation of means of automation of problem solving process was considered.
