In this article, a study on intermittent surface grinding using aluminum oxide grinding wheel with ceramic binder is presented. The testing material is 20XH3A steel (GOST standard – Russian Federation). The testing sample has been sawn 6 grooves, with the width of each groove of 10 mm, the grooves are evenly distributed on the circumference of sample. The testing sample resembles a splined shaft. An experimental matrix of nine experiments has been built by Taguchi method, in which abrasive grain size, workpiece speed, feed rate and depth of cut were selected as input variables. At each experiment, surface roughness (Ra) and roundness error (RE) have been measured. Experimental results show that the aluminum oxide and ceramic binder grinding wheels are perfectly suitable for grinding intermittent surface of 20XH3A steel. Data Envelopment Analysis based Ranking (DEAR) method has been used to solve the multi-objective optimization problem. The results also showed that in order to simultaneously ensure minimum surface roughness and RE, abrasive grain size is 80 mesh, workpiece speed is 910 rpm, feed rate is 0.05 mm/rev and depth of cut is 0.01 mm. If evaluating the grinding process through two criteria including surface roughness and RE, depth of cut is the parameter having the greatest effect on the grinding process, followed by the influence of feed rate, workpiece speed, and abrasive grain is the parameter having the least effect on the grinding process. In addition, the effect of each input parameter on each output parameter has also been analyzed, and orientations for further works have also been recommended in this article

The problem of reducing the thermal stress of the grinding process of bearing rings has been viewed. The possibility of reducing the temperature of the treated surface based on the use of precast textured grinding wheels has been presented. Experimental models of pulse, contact, average temperature, velocities and rates of their change in the function of grinding time are found.

In the grinding process, the grinding wheel surface condition changes depending on the dressing conditions, which affects the ground surface roughness and grinding resistance. Several studies have been reported on the practical application of dressing using prismatic dressers in recent years. However, only a few studies that quantitatively evaluate the effects of differences in dressing conditions using prismatic dresser on the ground surface roughness and grinding resistance have been reported. Thus, this study aims to evaluate quantitatively the effect of the difference in dressing conditions using the prismatic dresser on the ground surface roughness and grinding resistance by focusing on the dressing resistance. In the experiment, dressing is performed by changing the dressing lead and the depth of dressing cut with a prismatic dresser, and the ground surface roughness and grinding resistance are measured. Consequently, by increasing the dressing lead and the depth of dressing cut, the ground surface roughness increased, and the grinding resistance decreased. This phenomenon was caused by the increase in dressing resistance when the dressing lead and the depth of dressing cut were increased, which caused a change in the grinding wheel surface condition. Furthermore, the influence of the difference in dressing conditions using the prismatic dresser on the ground surface roughness and grinding resistance can be quantitatively evaluated by using the dressing resistance.

Abstract. These days, in the manufacture of units and mechanisms of ships, aircraft and other technological machines, industrial robots, long-sized products from D 16 (Standart GOST-R) aluminum alloy are used, for the processing of which a complex for belt rotary grinding has been developed. The outcome measures of the rotary belt grinding process depend on the cutting forces generated during the processing process. According to cutting forces, process stability is diagnosed, values of surface roughness indices, temperatures and cutting modes are calculated according to displacement balance equation. The article is devoted to obtaining a mathematical model establishing the relationship between the tangential component of the cutting force and cutting modes during belt rotary grinding of D 16 aluminum alloy.

The characteristic properties of non-wood biomass used in combustion processes are monitored, such as water content, ash, volatile matter. Biomass is usually not homogenous and of suitable dimensions for these determinations. This is the reason for the necessary adjustment of samples for analysis. But modifying the samples may change their properties. In this publication, the influence of the grinding process in a rotor mill on the content of water, volatile matter and ash in non-wood biomass samples was studied. Samples of flax, Crambe abyssinica, amaranth and rye were analyzed. All analyses showed moisture loss from the sample during grinding and in the case of flax, the loss of volatile matter was observed. It means the rotor mill is suitable for sample preparation prior to analysis. But for oil plants it is necessary to choose another mill or adjustment method.

Abstract Based on the variation of the actual cutting depth during the grinding process, a 3D finite element (FE) simulation model for grinding nickel-based superalloy GH4169 with single abrasive was initially constructed. Then the morphological evolution of the grinding chips during the grinding process was studied. In addition, the effect of the single abrasive cutting depth and the grinding speed on chip morphology and segmentation frequency was investigated. Finally, experimental results with the same test parameters verify the finite element simulation results. The results showed that in the experimental grinding speed range, the sawtooth lamellar chip with the free surface being serrated and the contact surface being smooth due to the extrusion of the abrasive is easy to produce when grinding nickel-based superalloy GH4169. As the grinding speed increases, the chip morphology changes from a unitary lamellar chip to a continuous serrated chip, developing into a continuous ribbon chip. The chip segmentation frequency is mainly determined by grinding depth and grinding speed. To be specific, the smaller the grinding depth and the greater the grinding speed, the greater the chip formation frequency.
