scholarly journals Securing data in the Era of Internet of Things

Definition: -Using electronic devices and computers now days become more challenging as cyber crime has risen to another extant which has become a great challenge to control. Hackers, Trojans and other cyber tools may cause huge potential loss of wealth and money which can easily destroys an individual. Securing Information related to your facebook account is bit easier as it is a matter of an individual but on the other hand making a database secure and safe is a big and difficult task.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that encompasses electronic devices that have embedded technologies, sensors and connection to the Internet network, capable of collecting, processing, transmitting data and sharing information among each other, in order to transform data into information for decision making. On the other hand, there are still urban challenges facing cities where IoT can contribute. Aiming to support this theme, this study developed a systematic mapping of the literature on IoT and the main challenges faced by Brazilian cities, pointing out existing initiatives and alternatives of how IoT can help to solve them. The results showed evidence of practical applications on the use of IoT as a solution to the challenges in the cities. In addition, these results suggest the feasibility of using IoT in the solution of these problems.

Phthalocyanines and subphthalocyanines are attracting attention as functional dyes that are applicable to organic solar cells, photodynamic therapy, organic electronic devices, and other applications. However, phthalocyanines are generally difficult to handle due to their strong ability to aggregate, so this property must be controlled for further applications of phthalocyanines. On the other hand, trifluoroethoxy-substituted phthalocyanines are known to suppress aggregation due to repulsion of the trifluoroethoxy group. Furthermore, the electronic characteristics of phthalocyanines are significantly changed by the strong electronegativity of fluorine. Therefore, it is expected that trifluoroethoxy-substituted phthalocyanines can be applied to new industrial fields. This review summarizes the synthesis and application of trifluoroethoxy-substituted phthalocyanine and subphthalocyanine derivatives.

Internet of things witnessed rapid growth in the last decade and is considered to be a promising field that plays an all-important role in every aspect of modern-day life. However, the growth of IoT is seriously hindered by factors like limited storage, communication capabilities, and computational power. On the other hand, cloud has the potential to support a large amount of data as it has massive storage capacity and can perform complex computations. Considering the tremendous potential of these two technologies and the manner in which they complement one another, they have been integrated to form what is commonly referred to as the cloud of things (CoT). This integration is beneficial as the resulting system is more robust, intelligent, powerful, and offers promising solutions to the users. However, the new paradigm (CoT) is faced with a significant number of challenges that need to be addressed. This chapter discusses in detail various challenges like reliability, latency, scalability, heterogeneity, power consumption, standardization, etc. faced by the cloud of things.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a quite recent paradigm going a decade back to the past. With the development and deployment of wireless technologies this new advancement has taken the part in the consumers' lives and businesses. In other words, the IoT is a pretty convenient way to correlated devices with each other and make them communicate in such a network. This is feasible using the internet connection and differently saying, all IoT devices forming the IoT asset got their IP addresses. From this perspective, it's quite clear that this technology got a lot of advantages and the users may feel so thankful for being the part of an IoT community. On the other hand, the consumers would spend less time thinking about the possible security concerns being linked to this new improvement. In this paper, we intend to discuss how secure our IoT infrastructure is, what its strategic implications are and why cyber industry should invest more time and effort in order to better research and develop this concept. In addition, we would try to deal a bit more with the IoT crawlers as the tools for investigating the IoT network and being so handy for both - researchers and hacker's groups.

The article analyses the popularity of self-tracking as one cultural phenomenon. The practice of tracking one’s activity and controlling life parameters is not new, but nowadays it has been popularised and entered into a group of new, cultural trends. This process is strongly related to the development of technology, the Internet of Things and mobile solutions. On the other hand, to outline the full picture of the phenomenon of self-tracking, it should be considered in different cultural contexts, taking into account social factors and current fashions and trends.

Due to their prominent environmental protection and energy saving characteristics electric vehicles are promoted in all nations. On the other hand, the application of internet of things in all walks of life has received great attention in China. Though the profit model with internet of things technology is not clearly defined, this paper focuses on discussing in details the application of internet of things in the mobile battery recharging/swapping system for electric vehicles and possible update of operation and profit model.

Asia is the largest and most populous continent of Earth with an overall population of 446.27 crores. Housing this population drives various challenges in different aspects, in which providing healthy and nutritious food to each and every individual is most challenging. Unfortunately, because of certain production issues, farmers are not getting the desired throughput, and in some critical cases, situations lead to suicide. On the other hand, proper storage and distribution of these harvests are other challenges. Various models and IoT (internet of things)-based approaches have been presented and are available for implementation, but a dedicated layout combining the digitization of all the essential steps, starting from preparation of soil for agriculture to the making food available for every needy person, is still missing. In the paper, various related models have been studied, and an integral model is presented where integration of IoT is carried out with agriculture and with the food storage and distribution system.

A review of technological solutions for RFID sensing and their current or envisioned applications is presented. The fundamentals of the wireless sensing technology are summarized in the first part of the work, and the benefits of adopting RFID sensors for replacing standard sensor-equipped Wi-Fi nodes are discussed. Emphasis is put on the absence of batteries and the lower cost of RFID sensors with respect to other sensor solutions available on the market. RFID sensors are critically compared by separating them into chipped and chipless configurations. Both categories are further analyzed with reference to their working mechanism (electronic, electromagnetic, and acoustic). RFID sensing through chip-equipped tags is now a mature technological solution, which is continuously increasing its presence on the market and in several applicative scenarios. On the other hand, chipless RFID sensing represents a relatively new concept, which could become a disruptive solution in the market, but further research in this field is necessary for customizing its employment in specific scenarios. The benefits and limitations of several tag configurations are shown and discussed. A summary of the most suitable applicative scenarios for RFID sensors are finally illustrated. Finally, a look at some sensing solutions available on the market are described and compared.

If, on the one hand, the classic notion of artefact presupposes inert objects and a reliability between the user and the uses that can be extracted from the objects, on the other hand, it is recognized a suspicion that technical objects and their operative schemes, the machines and the “artificial” solutions contain in themselves an inauthentic and adulterating nature, a power of cunning and trickery capable of emancipate and process in autonomous forms, regardless of the uses and apprehensions that humans, their operators, may make. The western imaginary of technics would thus have been constituted under presuppositions that, together with the formal laws of mechanics or the cold mathematics that governs any grammar of codes, projected a animistic and a magical dimension in all the artificiality that allowed to manipulate the original productivity of nature. With the emergence of digital technologies and the general informatization of artefacts, this dimension took shape in what Philip K. Dick would consider to be a techno-animism tendency and that ubiquitous computing and internet of things would materialize in the era of so-called cognitive capitalism. In this paper, we seek to approach techno-animism as a speculative aesthetics that, by projecting a life into technical objects, inscribes in them an alterity and a strangeness that could enhance other perspectives beyond the usual uses and relationships that we take for granted and that hide objects, as well as the political or commercial strategies that mobilize them. Enchanting technical objects is, on the one hand, creating a possibility to suspend them from their instrumental flows and, on the other, installing a weird or magical realism that disturbs the articulations of a mere and exclusively human reality.
