The implementation of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) in the educational field has become the way of learning in many educational institutions worldwide. MOOC is believed could help to promote active learning among language learners. In Malaysian polytechnic settings, MOOC has just recently implemented for the English course. Thus, this study aimed to investigate polytechnics English as a Second Language (ESL) lecturers' acceptance of using Massive Open Online Course for teaching ESL and the challenges they faced in using MOOC. The methodology used was the survey method where a set of questionnaires was developed and adapted from the Technology Acceptance Model. The respondents for this study were 34 ESL lecturers from different polytechnics in Malaysia. The findings revealed that polytechnic ESL lecturers have positive perceptions towards the ease of use and usefulness of MOOC for teaching ESL. The investigation also revealed the challenges faced by the lecturers in using MOOC for teaching ESL. The results would contribute positively to the policy makers, developers, and administrators to gain more insight on the lecturers' perceptions and challenges related to the use of technology for language teaching and learning in any higher learning institutions.

Flipped learning empowers learners to take an engaging role in learning while educators assist the learning process. The employment of flipped learning has been confirmed to enhance the teaching and learning of English as a second language in previous studies. This study aimed to explore the application of the unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology towards ESL lecturers’ intention to use flipped learning. This study used a quantitative research framework where a set of online questionnaires was used in collecting the data. A total of 206 English as a second language lecturers from four different universities participated in this study. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The result of this study indicates that only social influence is significant in predicting English as a second language lecturers’ intention to use the flipped learning approach. Furthermore, this study enriches the literature on 21st century education and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. In addition, this study could help educators and stakeholders in adapting or enhancing the flipped learning approach by distinguishing the distinct predictors of technology acceptance.

This study applied the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in investigating teachers and students’ perceptions towards integrating the D2L system to enhance EFL teaching and learning processes at the English language department, Majmaah University. Two close-ended questionnaires were designed to measure the participants’ perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitudes, and intentions to use D2L. To understand participants’ perceptions and the obstacles that may hinder their use of D2L, an interview with open-ended questions were conducted. Data from the questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS. Qualitative analysis of the interview data showed the frequencies and proportions of participants’ responses. The findings indicated that the D2L system is totally accepted by teachers and students. Few problems along with their suggested solutions were grouped, presented and discussed.

Indonesian Eastern Fleet Training Command currently has the facilities to train professional soldiers in the shooting.A simulator facility in the form of computer-based clinic shooting is called Virtual Arms Solution FTS D-423 (VAS).Need to analyse the relationship between perceived ease of use and usefulness of VAS in order to determine thelevel of acceptance. Both these factors are modelled by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which canexplain the factors that influence the actual receipt of the use of technology. After that, the relationship between thetwo factors that have been modelled with the Technology Acceptance Model to be treated using Path Analysis(Path Analysis). Where the path analysis was used to analyse the causal relationships between variables in order todetermine the effect of the direct and indirect causes of the variable to a variable result. Based on the analysis anddiscussion, it is obtained as follows that the ease and usefulness of a positive effect on Attitude using VAS positiveeffect on Behavioural Intention using VAS. The issues of gender disparity in the usage of information technology (IT), as well as self-efficacy, have received considerable interest and attention among researchers in recent times. Prior research has identified that gender differences and self-efficiency affect the attitude towards adoption and use of technology. In general, females are believed to be disadvantaged compared to their male counterparts with respect to IT usage and acceptance. The reasoning is that males are mostly more exposed to technology and tend to have more proficiency with such tools. Very little information exists in the extant literature regarding perceptions in developing parts of the world, including Africa. In this chapter, an empirical evaluation of the issues in the context of e-banking will be made in Lagos (Nigeria) and its environs. An extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) will be used as a conceptual framework to guide the discourse. Data analysis was done on SPSS 15.0. The study’s results showed that gender differences moderated the acceptance of e-banking of users in the research context. Namely, computer self efficacy and perceived ease of use were of concerns to females, but less so for their male counterparts. Also, perceived usefulness of e-banking is discovered to be the most influencing factor for male users. The study’s implications for research and practice are discussed in the chapter.

This chapter aims to determine the variables that explain using mobile banking. This study identifies and investigates the factors that influence the adoption of mobile banking, and specifically focuses on the evaluation of mobile banking application with users or non-users. The research model includes the basic concepts of the technology acceptance model. The technology acceptance model (TAM) tries to explain the adoption process and underlying influencing factors in technology acceptance. The survey was conducted to gather data which was coded in SPSS 17. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze data, and structural equation modeling using Amos 17 software was used to validate the research model. The result shows that perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived normative pressure significantly influences customer attitude, which affects the adoption of mobile banking.

Higher education institutions are faced with the complex challenges of serving increased enrollment levels within tight budgets. This challenge is prompting many universities to explore new approaches including the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle for delivering courses to help extend teaching and learning beyond the classroom. Using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as an underlying theory, this study investigated students' perceived usefulness as well as the perceived ease of use of Moodle in the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana. The study also used multiple linear regression to determine if these factors have any impact on the rate at which students use Moodle. Data was collected from a random sample of 229 students from the Faculty of Science Education using a questionnaire. The analysis revealed that students' perceived usefulness of Moodle and perceived challenges in using Moodle combined contributes significantly to students' rate of Moodle use.

Understanding learner participation is essential to any learning environment to enhance teaching and learning, especially in large scale digital spaces, such as massive open online courses. However, there is a lack of research to fully capture the dynamic nature of massive open online courses and the different ways learners participate in these emerging massive e-learning ecologies. To fill in the research gap, this paper attempted to investigate the relationship between how learners choose to participate in a massive open online course, their initial motivation for learning, and the barriers they faced throughout the course. This was achieved through a combination of data-driven clustering approaches—to identify patterns of learner participation—and qualitative analysis of survey data—to better understand the learners’ motivation and the barriers they faced during the course. Through this study we show how, within the context of a Coursera massive open online course offered by the University of Illinois, learners with varied patterns of participation (Advanced, Balanced, Early, Limited, and Delayed Participation) reported similar motivations and barriers, but described differences in how their participation was impacted by those factors. These findings are significant to gain insights about learners’ needs which in turn serve as the basis to innovate more adaptive and personalized learning experiences and thus advance learning in these large scale environments.

<p class="3">This study investigated undergraduate students’ intention to use wiki technology. An extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been used by taking into account not only students’ wiki perceived utility and usability, but also Big Five personality characteristics and two other variables, social norms, and facilitating conditions, as proposed in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Students’ beliefs before (pre-wiki scenario) and after (post-wiki scenario) the actual use of the wiki system were investigated, with 85 and 86 participants respectively. The hypotheses were tested using partial least squares analysis. For the pre-wiki scenario, 8/15 hypotheses were confirmed and 11/15 for the post-wiki scenario. The relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness was found to be of the highest magnitude. The most notable difference across the two scenarios was that the relation between perceived ease of use and attitudes towards use was significant only in the first scenario. The results demonstrate that the proposed TAM-extended model could predict students’ wiki acceptance.</p>

The changes that happen in technology recently have brought about significant changes in the field of education where it can improve the quality of knowledge with the invention of technology is creative, unique, and of course, it is beneficial to us especially among students. There is a growing number of interests in how these technological platforms are perceived by the users (students) and the effectiveness of these platforms. For this reason, it is essential to investigate the easiness and usefulness of such technology being currently used by students. To further understand the issue, the role of students' perception plays an essential role in the use of technology in education. Therefore, this study focuses on the students' understanding of the use of technology in learning among students at the University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) by applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Besides, this is an exploratory study on the impact of TAM on students' perception. An online questionnaire has been distributed, and a total of 113 respondents were collected, which aims to gather insight on the use of technology in the learning system at UNIMAS. Moreover, this study has used various analysis methods such as descriptive analysis, reliability test, factor analysis, and Pearson correlation coefficient and Partial Least Square- Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) to investigate the role of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness in determining the usage of technology in the higher learning institution. The findings in this study revealed that there is a positive relationship from perceived ease of use towards the use of technology among students. The outcome of the study identifies that there is a satisfactory level of technology usage among the respondents. The results also suggest that policymakers should ensure the innovation of technology to consider the ease of use and usefulness of technology (via training and providing mobile-friendly applications) to assist students' learning in the higher learning institution. The limitations of this study are that the sample is collected at the undergraduate level. It is recommended for future research to include respondents from postgraduate levels to see any difference in their perception of technology. The paper deals with the issue of application possibilities of MOOC platforms in IT specialist training. It is emphasized that this problem is urgent due to the coronavirus pandemic which caused reconsideration of educational approaches, means and tools. In the study the analysis of the most demanded massive open online course platforms in terms of IT specialist training is presented. Challenges of MOOCs for teaching and learning foreign languages are highlighted. Profession-related, soft skill mastering and English learning courses have been scrutinized in terms of their content and user-friendliness by teachers and students of two universities. Design, layout, topics, communities, documentation, and application availability have been evaluated and ranked. Three online English courses of similar purpose on Coursera, FutureLearn and Prometheus have been compared and ranked with the aim to advise the most efficient one to senior undergraduates striving to be employed in Ukraine and abroad in the multicultural IT environment.
