In developed countries, material scientists are working intensively to create high-strength (metallic) technical ceramics. If such a material is created, it will be possible to manufacture such parts of power units (transmissions) of cars as shafts, turbines, etc. In the future, the latest composite ceramic materials with unique properties will gradually replace metals in the production of machine parts. Special device for diamond grinding of articles from composite, non-metallic, brittle materials (technical ceramics on the base of SiC, Al2O3; polycrystalline diamond, composite – Si + SiC + diamond etc.) is a universal flat grinding machine that enables to grind with high productivity both supporting main surfaces and lateral side surfaces – perimeter of an article of prismatic shape. It is also possible to grind substrates of other configurations – round, oval, etc. Grinding depending on sizes of articles can be done of both single and group of articles. The grinding takes place by the means of spring feeding of the article by pneumatic system that enables to prevent breakage of articles from brittle non-metallic materials in process of machining and obtain maximum high quality of the machined surface.

At the present stage of the revolutionary development of technologies, scientists from the leading countries of the world are working intensively to create qualitatively new materials whose physical-mechanical, electrical, thermal or other properties far exceed the basic constructions, armament or other metals used. Such materials are surface, brittle, composite ceramic materials (based on oxide and carbide ceramics, state-of-the-art surface compositions, polycrystalline diamond + Si  SiC and etc.). A progressive process for diamond grinding test samples from composite ceramic materials to determine the bending strength is discussed. The proposed technological process is based on an original and effective method for polishing the flat surfaces of articles made of difficult-to-process and composite materials - low-temperature precision grinding (LPG). Based on the results of many years and multilateral studies in the field of diamond processing of various non-metallic, composite and ceramic materials, optimum conditions for diamond polishing of mentioned materials have been determined and recommended. Technological equipment and equipment for processing composite and ceramic materials are also disclosed.

: Cr12MoV hardened steel is widely used in the manufacturing of stamping die because of its high strength, high hardness, and good wear resistance. As a kind of mainstream cutting technology, high-speed machining has been applied in the machining of Cr12MoV hardened steel. Based on the review of a large number of literature, the development of high-speed machining of Cr12MoV hardened steel was summarized, including the research status of the saw-tooth chip, cutting force, cutting temperature, tool wear, machined surface quality, and parameters optimization. The problems that exist in the current research were discussed and the directions of future research were pointed out. It can promote the development of high-speed machining of Cr12MoV hardened steel.

This work focuses on research on obtaining and characterizing Al2O3/ZrO2 materials formed via slip casting method. The main emphasis in the research was placed on environmental aspects and those related to the practical use of ceramic materials. The goal was to analyze the environmental loads associated with the manufacturing of Al2O3/ZrO2 composites, as well as to determine the coefficient of thermal expansion of the obtained materials, classified as technical ceramics. This parameter is crucial in terms of their practical applications in high-temperature working conditions, e.g., as parts of industrial machines. The study reports on the four series of Al2O3/ZrO2 materials differing in the volume content of ZrO2. The sintering process was preceded by thermogravimetric measurements. The fabricated and sintered materials were characterized by dilatometric study, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and stereological analysis. Further, life cycle assessment was supplied. Based on dilatometric tests, it was observed that Al2O3/ZrO2 composites show a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than that resulting from the content of individual phases. The results of the life cycle analysis showed that the environmental loads (carbon footprint) resulting from the acquisition and processing of raw materials necessary for the production of sinters from Al2O3 and ZrO2 are comparable to those associated with the production of plastic products such as polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride.

In this work, cutting experiments were carried out on titanium alloy Ti6Al4V by using polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tools to investigate the effects of the tool geometries and cutting parameters on machined surface roughness. Experimental results show machined surface roughness decreases with increases in the flank angle, tool nose radius and cutting speed within a limited range respectively, and begins to increase as the factors reaches to certain values respectively. And machined surface roughness decreases with increases in feed rate and cutting depth respectively.

Local and conventional raw materials?massive basalt from the Vrelo locality on Kopaonik mountain?have been used as starting materials to test their suitability for the production of glass-ceramics. Crystallization phenomena of glasses of the fused basalt rocks were studied by X-ray phase analysis optical microscopy and other techniques. Various heat treatments were used and their influences, on controlling the microstructures and properties of the products were studied with the aim of developing high strength glass-ceramic materials. Diopside CaMg(SiO3)2 and hypersthene ((Mg,Fe)SiO3) were identifies as the crystalline phases. The final products contained considerable amounts of a glassy phase. The crystalline size was in range of 8?480 ?m with plate or needle shape. Microhardness, crashing strength and wears resistence of the glass-ceramics ranged from 6.5?7.5, from 2000?6300 kg/cm2 and from 0.1?0.2 g/cm, respectively.

Relevance of the development of high-strength glass-ceramic coatings obtained by resource-saving technology for protective elements has been established. Structure formation mechanism in magnesium aluminosilicate glasses during heat treatment has been analyzed. Selection of the system was substantiated, model glasses and glass-ceramic materials on its base have been developed. Patterns of structure regularity and formation of the phase composition of glass-ceramic materials during their ceramization have been investigated. It was established that the presence of crystalline phase of mullite after melting leads to formation of the primary crystals and allows the formation of the fine crystalline structure under conditions of the low-temperature heat treatment at the nucleation stage. Developed high-strength glass ceramic materials can be used as a base in creating protective elements for special-purpose vehicles by energy-saving technology.
