Emergency conditions are very life-threatening situations and require fast actions and immediate intervention from medical stuff. For young doctors without extensive experience in the treatment of these important diseases, it is very crucial to know and timely apply modern treatment algorithms. Simulation medical scenarios are a good approach and can help to improve knowledge and practical skills. Authors provide frequent trainigs for students and interns for emergency medical conditions according to world standards and University syllabus. The main idea is to create new and improve old practical skills and competencies for students and interns.

Stress is a known contributor to several life-threatening medical conditions and a risk factor for triggering acute cardiovascular events, as well as a root cause of several social problems. The burden of stress is increasing globally and, with that, is the interest in developing effective stress-monitoring solutions for preventive and connected health, particularly with the help of wearable sensing technologies. The recent development of miniaturized and flexible biosensors has enabled the development of connected wearable solutions to monitor stress and intervene in time to prevent the progression of stress-induced medical conditions. This paper presents a review of the literature on different physiological and chemical indicators of stress, which are commonly used for quantitative assessment of stress, and the associated sensing technologies.

We present to you a case of life-threatening haemoptysis secondary to non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis complicated by bronchial artery pseudoaneurysms. We discuss this patient’s emergency medical management using intravenous tranexamic acid, which resulted in successful resuscitation and eventual survival, and evaluate the need for urgent anaesthetic and interventional radiology input in such a case.

The work the results of using the developed electronic textbook on physics for organizing the independent work of secondary school students is analyzed. The possibilities of an electronic textbook are shown, the advantages of using the textbook in the learning process are noted. For the development of the electronic textbook, the C# programming language was used in the Microsoft Visual Studio software environment. The main idea of developing an electronic textbook is the relationship between theoretical teaching and practical skills. The electronic textbook provides two modes of operation: training mode and control mode, thus the electronic textbook contains a block of theoretical material and a module for interactive testing of students' knowledge. The theoretical material of the textbook has been developed in accordance with the standard curriculum for the subject “Physics”. The interactive testing module includes standard physical problems of different degrees of complexity, as well as practice-oriented problems on physics. A set of practice-oriented problems has been developed, the use of which in the process of teaching physics will allow to ensure the formation of students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills, to prepare students for practical activities. The main advantage of an electronic textbook is interactivity. The novelty of the development of an electronic textbook is implementation in accordance with a new approach aimed at shaping students' knowledge about the practical applications of physics and developing their practical skills.

AbstractObjectivesThe goal of this study was to find out the training received in Urgent and Emergency Medicine (UEM) by the Primary Health Care (PHC) physicians of Asturias (Spain), as well as their perception of their own theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a series of procedures employed in life-threatening emergencies (LTEs), and also to analyze the differences according to the geographical area of their work.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional survey of PHC physicians using an ad hoc survey of a sample of 213 physicians in Asturias regarding their self-perception of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in techniques used in LTEs by areas of work (rural, suburban, and urban). The interview was conducted by mail from April through May 2017. The data processing has used absolute and relative frequencies, as well as central tendency parameters and dispersion parameters. The estimates for the entire population have been made using confidence intervals for the mean of 95%. In the comparison of parameters, the differences between parameters with a probability of error less than five percent (P<.05) have been considered significant. For the comparison of means between the different techniques in the different areas of work, ANOVA was used.ResultsWith respect to the training of physicians, in general, for managing emergencies, both at the regional level and by areas of work (rural, suburban, and urban), none of the sets analyzed attained five points. By areas of work, it was the suburban region where there was a greater average general level of knowledge. There were significant differences in the average theoretical knowledge and the average practical skills in the procedures studied according to the different areas of work. The greater number of significant differences was between the urban and suburban regions and within the urban area. Conclusions:It’s necessary to ensure an adequate homogeneity of the levels of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of PHC physicians in order to guarantee the equity of provision of health care in emergencies in different geographical areas.Cernuda MartínezJA, Castro DelgadoR, Ferrero FernándezE, Arcos GonzálezP. Emotional stress has been associated with the development and progression of several chronic medical conditions. Recently, researchers have assessed the impact of stress-management interventions on patients' psychological functioning, quality of life, and various disease outcomes, including survival. This review summarizes the value of stress-management techniques in the treatment of two important, life-threatening conditions: coronary heart disease and cancer. Results from randomized clinical trials indicate that psychological interventions can improve patients' psychological functioning and quality of life. However, there is limited evidence to suggest that these interventions significantly reduce morbidity and mortality.
