The article presents the results of a research on the life satisfaction, conducted in 2014, among randomly selected children aged 8, 10 and 12, attending primary schools in Wielkopolskie voivodship. The aim of this research is to compare the subjective assessment of the life quality of children experiencing and not experiencing peer violence. Division of the participants was conducted due to the type of experienced violence — physical (beating) and emotional (rejection). Psychometric scales such as OLS (Overall Life Satisfaction), SLSS (Student Life Satisfaction Scale) and BMSLSS (Brief Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale) were used to evaluate the quality of the examined children life. The mean values of the above-mentioned indicators for children experiencing and not experiencing violence according to age were compared. The Student’s t-test was used to evaluate the significance of differences. Moreover, the state of certain goods possession in both groups of participants was confronted as well as the level of satisfaction with some aspects of life quality was compared. The research has shown that life satisfaction of beaten and discarded children decreases with age faster than other children. One of the factors impacting such results is the worse financial situation of children experiencing violence. Another factor is appearance, but it becomes more important in older age groups.

The article presents problems related to life quality, life satisfaction and sense of happiness, their determinants, methods of measurement and dependence on the level of wealth and other conditions. Life quality is an abstract blurred term which depends on numerous factors. There is not any single, comprehensive definition, measure or cause of such phenomena as life quality, economic well-being or sense of happiness. Their evaluation depends on economic, political, cultural and social conditions and also on individual features, expectations and attitudes. More and more often, next to hard economic coefficients, social indicators are applied, and synthetic measures of the level of life quality or social and economic well-being are developed. The level of social development is strongly affected by the quality of human capital. The article presents an attempt at matching parameters and indicators which characterise various aspects of life quality and applying them for the development of synthetic measures of life quality in its different aspects. It is also aimed at comparing them with the current results obtained by research studies in this field. The aim of the article is to provide an assessment of diversification in the levels of living conditions observed in some selected countries – its size, specificity and cause-effect relations with the use of the listed parameters and measures. The research on life quality should be applied to the assessment of the efficiency of social and economic policy which has been currently implemented.

Background: Vitiligo can negatively affect patients’ quality of life (QoL). Assessment of QoL provides relevant information about treatment benefits. Objectives: To examine the effects of excimer laser treatment on vitiligo patients’ QoL and to identify overall patient satisfaction. The literature review failed to show any study concerning the same field. Methods: A total of 134 vitiligo patients (with 386 lesions) were studied. The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) was used to assess the effect of excimer laser treatment on patients’ QoL. A visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to rate patients’ overall life satisfaction and disturbance. Results: Excimer laser treatment significantly improved QoL in vitiligo patients, with improvement observed in five of six DLQI domains. Treatment-induced changes in the VAS score showed a significant decline in life disturbance and improvement in life satisfaction. Multivariate analysis revealed that sex and treatment duration were independent factors influencing treatment outcomes. Conclusions: Treatment of vitiligo with excimer laser can positively influence patients’ QoL. Patients with multiple focal lesions should be treated by excimer laser even if some lesions may not show significant clinical improvement.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the general life satisfaction of the population of Rivne region by the constituent elements of life quality. Method. The method of population life quality research of Y.Krupnov was used. The general and static methods, systematic and structural analysis methods, comparative-geographical method have been applied. The regional and national statistics, profile agencies reports have been compiled. Results. The state of demographic well-being of Rivne region is defined as high, the region has one of the highest fertility rates in Ukraine and low numbers of natural decline. The assessment of the quality of life of the population in the category of "health" is with average values in Ukraine. The most common in the region are circulatory system diseases and neoplasms and a high mortality rate from injuries and poisoning. The average life expectancy of the population is 71.6 years and is slightly higher than in Ukraine. The security of the population of the region by individual and social conditions, especially by economic indicators, is low. There is a decrease in the number of general secondary education institutions in the region, but the increase in the number of preschool institutions Improvement in the region's communications corresponds to the level of improvement in Ukraine, and, in our opinion, indicates a sufficient level of quality of life for the population in this category. The average wage in the Rivne region is lower than the national average. The quality of life of the population of Rivne region is estimated as above average and the most effective directions of its growth are substantiated: the fight against poverty through expansion of employment and reduction of the unemployment rate; regulation of the minimum wage, increase of pensions; development and implementation of measures to stimulate the development of small and medium-sized businesses, etc. Scientific novelty. The geographical aspect of the level of population life satisfaction of the studied region is revealed. For the first time the category "life quality" was systematically analyzed by its structural elements on the example of Rivne region. Practical importance. This research results reveal the level of life satisfaction of the population of Rivne region in comparative-geographical aspect and measures to increase it. They can be used to analyze the life quality of the other Ukraine regions population. They can be applied in drawing up programs of regional socio-economic development.

People with disabilities report having a wide range of quality of life. Quality of life is typically determined by life satisfaction, and negative and positive affect. Although people with disabilities face many individual, social, and environmental challenges, they often express a good to excellent quality of life. Having a good quality of life, despite these many challenges, is known as the disability paradox. Similarly, the erroneous assumption by many able-bodied people that individuals with disabilities must have terrible lives is also part of the disability paradox. The purpose of this chapter is to examine research showing how exercise can be an important vehicle to enhance quality of life. An overview of quality of life theories, concepts, measurement, and definitions is presented, followed by a review of the research and the mechanisms behind the association between physical activity and quality of life. For instance, feelings of mastery, increased functional fitness, enhanced social support from group and partner exercise, and biological mechanisms are all plausible mechanisms undergirding the salubrious effects of physical activity.

The article is devoted to the issue of sociological measurement of the quality of life of the population. It is argued that the key criteria for the quality of life of the population in the modern world are precisely non-economic indicators - such as subjective well-being, level of happiness, and social mood. The article provides evidence of the need for a subjective way of measuring the quality of life, which allows us to assess the living conditions of people through the prism of their real needs. The article clarifies the definition of quality of life: quality of life is an integrative or complex characteristic of the existence of the population, which can be measured by objective indicators of its standard of living or subjective assessments by members of society of the degree of satisfaction of their own needs. The analysis of the different ways of assessing the quality of life the author comes to the conclusion that the result of an objective method of measuring quality of life is the standard of living of the population, and the result of the subjective method of measuring quality of life - social well-being (subjective well-being, life satisfaction). The author insists that mixing subjective and objective indicators when constructing averaging quality of life indices is inappropriate, since in this case there is a risk of getting an irrelevant average. The conclusion is argued that it is advisable to make objective and subjective types of measurement of quality of life separately from each other, while comparing them with each other. The key input is formulated: the quality of life of a social actor through the prism of the sociological dimension is a measurement of social well - being (subjective well-being, or life satisfaction), and the position of a social actor in society through the prism of the sociological dimension is a social mood. At the same time, the phenomenon of social mood is represented by a synthesis of its static and dynamic components, the first of which represents social well - being, the second-orientation to value experiences and the corresponding readiness to act in a certain way. It is argued that the phenomenon that most generally characterizes the happiness system of an individual or group social subject (actor) is social mood. The definition of the concept of social mood is formulated as a General indicator of the position of a social actor in social reality, according to which social mood is a complex emotional and rational characteristic of an individual or group social actor characteristic of a certain period of time, determined by various aspects of the activity of this actor and determining its practical activity.

Objective: While a number of studies have dealt with the psychosocial consequences of transplantation for patients, we know comparatively little about the strains faced by their spouses. The present study investigates the psychosocial health of transplant patients and their spouses, as well as the link between these groups’ physical and psychosocial status, on the one hand, and their degree of burnout and level of life satisfaction on the other. Design: In a cross-sectional study, 121 patients and their spouses are surveyed by questionnaire following heart, lung, liver, or kidney transplant. Methods: The psychosocial parameters investigated in both patients and spouses are sense of coherence, quality of life, quality of the relationship, life satisfaction, and burnout. Results: Patients rate the quality of the relationship higher than their partners do, and they are more satisfied with the relationship than their spouses are (p < .001). Regression analyses show that patients’ life satisfaction is associated with quality of the relationship. Evidence of a full burnout syndrome can be found in three of the patients and two of the spouses. Burnout in the case of both patients and their partners is associated with limitations in one’s own sense of coherence and in one’s mental and physical health (multiple R2 = 0.79 for patients and 0.76 for spouses). Conclusion: Because of the importance of the couple’s relationship, psychosocial counseling should pay more attention to relationship satisfaction. Psychotherapeutic techniques should be used to improve the sense of coherence in both patient and spouse.

AbstractThe term quality of life (QOL) generally refers to the overall evaluation of an individual's life condition, on both objective and subjective dimensions. Quality of life research has focused on global evaluations of life satisfaction in adults. The life quality of adolescents and the performance of central life domains have largely been ignored. This study describes the psychometric properties of the Comprehensive Quality of Life Scale (ComQol) with an adolescent sample. In line with recent conceptualisations of QOL, ComQol assesses subjective and objective QOL on seven life domains. ComQol was administered along with two other self-report instruments (measuring fear and anxiety) to a sample of 264 school-based adolescents aged between 12 and 18 years. The scale yielded life satisfaction data that lay within the normative range for adults. Test-retest reliability and internal consistency analyses indicated that the scale has adequate reliability. In support of convergent validity, fear and anxiety were generally found to be significantly associated with lower levels of life quality. The present study supports the psychometric adequacy of ComQol as an instrument to measure the life quality of adolescents.

Objective of this study is to compare the life quality of the students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the Faculty of Education in Akdeniz University for the education year 2017-2018. The sample of the research study was composed of 895 students (448 female, 447 male) from Akdeniz University, Faculty of Sports Sciences and the Faculty of Education. The life qualityes of the studentes were evaluated according to the Turkish brief questionnaire (WOQOL-BREF TR) of WHOQOL life quality scale. WHOQOL life quality scale was developed by WOQOL group. WOQOL-BREF, a shorter form of this test, which involved 100 items, was developed by the same group and it was interpreted into Turkish afterwards, by Fidaner et al. (1999). Originally composed of 26 items, this scale's Turkish version was comprised of 27 items. The data was analyzed via SPSS package program. In order to determine the differences in socio-demographic features of the participant students, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) was used, and for observing the group differences, Tukey HSD and Independent Sample T Test were used. When the results of the Life Quality Scale of the students were analyzed, it was observed that there was statistically no significant difference in any sub-dimension of the life satisfaction, including the life satisfaction total points.
