This study investigated the effect of the implementation of communicative language teaching method in enhancing speaking Skill of the third semester students at English Department of Manado State University. This was a quantitative study using true experimental group and pre-posttest design. The sample was one class from third semester who enrolled in speaking subject. The data obtained was computed through t-test to see the significant difference occurred between the control and experimental group. From the calculation, t-test value is 2.932 based on the distribution of t-table α 0,05 with degrees of freedom n1 + n2 – 2 =12 + 12 – 2 = 22 and tabulated t-test value 2.074. from the calculation, it is clearly seen that t-test value is bigger than tabulated t-test value. t-test value = 2.932 t-tabulated = 2.074. seen from the final result after computing the mean score of both groups, the experimental group who were taught according to communicative language teaching principles achieved higher score (23.75) than the control group who weren’t taught according to communicative language teaching principles (12.08). According to the result, the use of Communicative Language Teaching method is effective in enhancing students’ speaking skill. Keywords: Students’ Speaking skill; Communicative Language Teaching Method.

Introduction. Oral communication is perhaps the most important skill while learning a foreign language. The conventional English teaching method that is applied at the different educational levels based on grammar and writing, does not allow the development of the necessary communication skills. The communicative teaching of language has been the subject of this research, in which its effectiveness has been treated using different resources and skills. Objective. This research aims to apply communicative language teaching activities to determine its effectiveness in the development of the speaking skill, in the second-year of Bachelor Education in a secondary institution in Riobamba, Ecuador. Methodology. A field, descriptive, prospective, longitudinal, quasi-experimental and quantitative research was carried out. The universe was made up of 94 students at that level. The sample equivalent to the universe was organized into two groups, one experimental and one control, with 47 students each. A diagnostic examination and a final test were applied for both groups, which during the time between both tests, followed different teaching-learning approaches. In the control group the traditional method was applied and in the experimental group, the communicative approach to language teaching. Results. The results showed that although both groups improved their performance in speaking, in the experimental group the increase in speaking ability was greater than in the control group. Conclusion. It was concluded that the application of communicative language teaching activities was effective in development of the speaking skill.

The main objective of this study is to identify the effectiveness of teaching methods in teaching English language through figures of speech. Thirty-one figures of speech were selected from different prose adverse lines for the study.  The study was experimental in nature and the pretest-post test control group research design was adopted among 120 bachelor third year education students from five campuses of Makawanpur District, Nepal. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the students to form the Control Group and the Experimental Group which were taught by using the lecture teaching method and the discussion teaching method respectively for thirty five days. The paired samples t test in SPSS Version 20 was used to compare Total Pretest Mean Score and Total Posttest Mean Score within groups. The overall reliability of the instruments based on the posttest scores of the students of the both groups of the pilot study was .979 and that of the research study was .968.  The pair samples t test between the Total Pretest Mean Score and the Total Posttest Mean Score of the Control Group (observed t- value=20.652, critical t- value= 2.001 and p< .05) and the Experimental Group (observed t- value= 42.907, critical t- value= 2.001 and p< .05) show that there was a statistically significant difference between the Total Pretest Mean Score and the Total Posttest Mean Score in each group. It justifies that the lecture teaching method and the discussion teaching method were effective within each group.

This study examined the effects of the mobile phones on high school students’ academic performance in Religious Education. The aim of the study was to test the efficiency using of mobile phones against the lecture method. Seventy-two participants (31 females and 41 males), in the Kingdom of Eswatini, participated in this quasi-experimental study. Purposive sampling was used to select participants who were randomly assigned to two groups (control and experimental). The control group was taught the topics, “The birth of the church and its spread” using a lecture method, whereas the experimental group was taught the same topic using mobile phones. The independent t-test and the dependent t-test were used to analyse data. The independent variable used was “teaching method,” with two levels: lecture versus mobile phones. The dependent variable was the participants’ scores derived from the pre-test and post-test. The independent t-test and the dependent t-test were used to analyze data. The results revealed that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group. The study concluded that the use of mobile phones improved students’ academic performance in Religious Education, and thus the integration use of mobile phones in the teaching of Religious Education is recommended in order to improve performance.

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) whether or not there was a significant improvement in speaking skill of students who were exposed to chain storytelling and (2) whether or not there was a significant difference in speaking skill between students who were exposed to chain storytelling and those who were not. The sample of this study was 60 tenth grade students of SMA Srijaya Negara, which were divided into control and experimental group, and each group had 30 students. To collect the data, each group was assigned pretest and post test. The data analyses used paired sample t test and independent sample t test in SPSS. The result from paired sample t test showed that the mean difference in post test and pretest of experimental group was 16.000 at the significance level of p<0.05 and since t obtained was higher than t table (9.649>2.04523), H01 was rejected and there was a significant improvement in speaking skill of experimental group. The highest contribution was given by story elaboration aspect (content), and then followed by pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency and grammar. The result from independent sample t test showed that the mean difference between post test of experimental group and control group was 2.4000 at the significance level of p>0.05 with t obtained<t table (0.942<2.00171), since t obtained was lower than t table, H02 was accepted and there was no significant difference in speaking skill between students who were taught by using chain storytelling and those who were not. Nevertheless, the mean difference from the experimental group was higher than that of control group (16.600>7.133). Keywords: teaching speaking, chain storytelling

Peer teaching is a strategy that allows the students to teach the new content to each other, and they must be accurately guided by instructors.     The researcher proposes that the use of students peer teaching  may promote students' achievement  and ensure the engagement of all the students in the learning process. Therefore, the researcher employs it as a teaching method aiming at investigating its  effect on Iraqi EFL students' achievement in the course of Library and Research Work .      The study hypothesizes that there is no significant difference between the students' achievement who are taught library and research work by students peer teaching  and that of the students taught by the traditional way. The experimental design of the study is Parallel Groups, Random Assignment, posttest. Each group consists of 35 students, chosen randomly from the Third Year Students at the Department of English in the College of Basic Education. Both groups were matched in terms of their age and parents' education. The experiment was fulfilled in the first course for 15 weeks during the academic year 2016-2017.       The same materials were presented to both groups. This included   units from Writing Research Paper by Lester D. . Post-test was constructed and exposed  The t-test for  independent samples was used to analyze the results and it is found out that there is a statistical difference between the two groups in their achievement because the calculated t- value 2.635 is bigger than the tabulated t- value which is 2.000, and also shown the superiority of the experimental group. The results indicate that the experimental group, who was taught Library and Research Work by peer teaching   was better than the control group, who was taught according to the traditional way. So, the null hypothesis is rejected. Finally, some recommendations and suggestions are presented in the light of the study findings. to a jury of experts to verify its validity and it was administered to both groups.
